Someone needs to talk about the 4th quarter. That was insane shooting, and frankly insane… everything.

Wolves now up to 14th hardest schedule with Houston as one of the 6 weakest teams left.

Here’s the Top Ten Qualified Players in Defensive Rating

1. Rudy Gobert • MIN 104.1
2. Evan Mobley • CLE 107.0
3. Naz Reid • MIN 107.4
4. Victor Wembanyama • SAS 107.7
5. Karl-Anthony Towns • MIN 107.9
6. Chet Holmgren • OKC 108.2
7. Kyle Anderson • MIN 108.6
8. Jarrett Allen • CLE 108.6
9. Anthony Edwards • MIN 109.0
10. Nikola Jokić • DEN 109.3

We know defense is a team pursuit, but owning half those spots is nice, right?

Here’s the kicker. I checked the DEF RTG of non-qualified players too, and we have good marks, even without playing with Rudy.

#3 Wendell Moore Jr. 100
#4 Leonard Miller. 101
(#10 Rudy 104)
#11 Josh Minott. 105
#13 Jordan MacLaughlin. 106

We are very close to shooting 50/40/80 as a team...

4 games into a 7 game home stand. Most disappointing part so far. No free chicken from Chic-fil-A. SMFH! ;) ;) ;)

How do we end up in the bottom half of offense rating? Is it all because turnovers?

A lot of teams are scoring crazy amounts against bad defenses. Eastern teams get to play the Hawks, Pacers, Raptors, and Wizards more than we do.

Pace is likely a big part of this.

Yes, turnovers and pace limit our FGA’s, plus we don’t take enough 3’s.

Those are probably the three biggest factors.

Dennis Rodman's kid is Bronny's teammate at USC. Who is the better prospect? Will Dennis come back and play with his son for a year???

Personally I would rather recruit Scottie Pippen and Malik Beasley next year. Put them together in a room and aranage Larsa Pippen to show up. Better fireworks than the 4th of July.

The general board is talking about Poku and how the Rubio trade from 2020 didn’t work out for OKC. While at the time it looked good for the Wolves, with the benefit of hindsight it might have been a top 10 worst of all time. The available talent we could have had would be miles ahead of what we ended up with.

Let’s also look at the other side of that trade. Ricky Rubio was never very good for the Wolves, but at least he mentored Anthony Edwards. Leandro Balmaro was a huge bust. The Wolves could have drafted IQ or Desmond Bane. If they never make the trade, they could have drafted Tyrese Maxey instead of Jaden McDaniels. Or they could have traded up from the high second they had that year or perhaps Jaden or Bane falls to the second round. Before draft night the Wolves had picks 1, 17, and 33.

In a very real scenario the 2020 draft the Timberwolves could have selected

1. Anthony Edwards
17. Tyrese Maxey
33. Desmond Bane or Jaden Mcdaniels

This trade did not age well for anyone.

Or with the trade the Wolves could have had

1. Anthony Edwards
23. IQ or Bane
28. McDaniels or if NYK took McDaniels at 25 we get Bane at 28.

Interesting! I don’t have an opinion on Rosa’s’ picks, but I will say that I think bringing in Rubio did a lot to put Ant on the right path to start his career.

Ant gave all of the credit for his miraculous second half turnaround to Ricky, and I think without Rubio mentoring him and showing him how to be a professional, there is a possibility that Ant busts.

We got Ant, Jaden and Naz that night. I’m content with that. [edit: Naz was the year before. Thanks Klomp!]
