This isn't really a mental health issue. It is a "I was a basketball professional at 14 and no longer care for the sport" issue.

Happens often with child prodigies.

People aren't depressed to be depressed.

That's sort of what I was getting at. I think it's important when talking about Mental Health to focus on the cause of the mental health.

This is not an "I'm tired of playing basketball" post.

I agree with you. Even if Mike seems a bit tired ( upset) the way we play recently :)

I thought I heard Michael Grady say that Mike was third on the list. I know he’s played every game since coming to Minnesota (56 straight). That might be his final number, because if you recall, we traded for him on the same day we played Utah, so he couldn’t play for either team until he completed a physical. If that game doesn’t count, he had played ten straight games for Utah before the trade, and 24 of the previous 25. If he plays tomorrow, I would consider that playing in 81 of 82 games, a full season missing only one game, and that makes me more comfortable about his future.

Conley himself has said that he’s unlikely to get hurt because he doesn’t take much contact any more. He doesn’t bang with bigs for rebounds, and he shoots a pull up rather than drive all the way to the hoop. He says his only contact at all these days is fighting through screens. Well, unless Chris Paul intentionally tries to roll into his legs again.

I thought I should add that Conley isn’t just playing, he’s playing well. In a category usually reserved for big men, Conley is #4 in the NBA in OFF Rtg, at a mind boggling 135.5! He’s also #16 in the NBA in Win Shares, at 3.9.

Conley is currently at the following:

11.4/6.2/2.8 on 46/45/94 shooting, .195 WS/48, 3.4 BPM [2.1 OBPM], 135 Ortg

CP3 age 36 season
14.7/10.8/4.4 on 49/32/84 shooting, .210 WS/48, 5.4 BPM [3.1 OBPM], 124 Ortg

While he isn't at CP3 level [who may have, along with Stockton, had the GOAT level age 36 seasons for a PG] is still playing at an extremely high level. Not quite an All-Star, but he is definitely a Top 100 player this year and maybe a Top 75 guy.

Word of advice from someone that's dealt with these issues my entire life; don't speculate about the cause of another's mental health. It's never productive for them nor is it a good look for you, regardless of your intentions.

This goes double for someone you've never met and whose circumstances you don't know. Although honestly, don't do it for someone you do know either.

Cannot agree with this statement more.

We have no idea what another person is going through, and the way people process trauma and adversity in their lives varies immeasurably.
Ricky simply saying "I need help" is a difficult thing to do, doing that as a public figure even more so.

He was always amazing to the fans here, and I wish him nothing but the best with whatever he does in the future.
It would be really fun to see him as a coach someday.

This clip is not 100% on point, and does contain spoilers for Ted Lasso so only play it if you have watched season 3. That said, the general theme is highly applicable to the mental health struggles of professional athletes and public figures. Because the moral of the clip is we don’t know these people and therefore we cannot properly understand their actions or motivations that underly those actions.

Conley is averaging only 10 minutes per game over the last two games. Time to worry?

Mike play 6 games in January with 46 Assists for 3 TO ! Just insane. Wish he shoot a bit more specially flooter. He loose a bit of efficiency not doing it often and we many need it later in the season. But overall, he is huge.

Mike has been extension-eligible all season. Has anyone heard any rumors about an extension?

At this point, could the front office be waiting until after the trade deadline, like they did with PatBev? I just can’t see us trading him. Maybe MIN refused to extend because of his age?

Could even wait up until the very end of the NBA calendar, a la Taurean Prince.
