Game 28 Wolves at Kings 12-23-23 Record 21-6

No KAT

KARL-ANTHONY TOWNS
12/22/2023 1:46:13 PM
Towns (knee) is out for Saturday’s matchup against the Kings, Dane Moore of ‘The Dane Moore NBA Podcast’ reports. Towns left Thursday's win over the Lakers late in the fourth quarter, limping and holding his left knee. The injury is being described as just soreness, so it appears the big man has avoided something serious. Saturday's absence will mark Towns' first of the campaign. In his stead, more minutes should be available for Naz Reid, Kyle Anderson, Jaden McDaniels and other frontcourt options.

Jaden drops 30 or we riot (or sob into our pillows.)

Will be a tough one. Kings are good. Will be nice to see how we handle it without KAT,

With KAT out Luka or Miller should get some minutes. I'm not saying they will, but I think one of them should.

I doubt either will. For better or worse Luka isn’t quick enough and if you believe Dane Moore, Finch has no faith in Miller for this year. The key is to not use Naz in the starting lineup and keep his minutes consistent. We need to match speed with speed and use their tired legs to slow the game down late. Start NAW and depending on how things go maybe close with Naz. This one is winnable and is important that we win it.

Don’t expect to see Minott, Miller or Garza. With a smaller, quicker Sacramento lineup, I think Troy Brown gets the rotation minutes. Anderson can play the backup 5 role in spurts. Reid likely starts, but don’t rule out Brown/NAW starting either.

Conley
Edwards
McDaniels
Reid
Gobert

Anderson
NAW
Brown
Milton (one rotation)

I like TBJ, but if it’s one of TBJ or NAW I got to believe it would be NAW. If nothing else, he has played more with the starters during MCD’s injury. That experience will be helpful from a chemistry perspective.

Also JMAC over Milton for this one. I think JMAC fits the pace better.

I'm looking at lineup construction for both teams. McDaniels will have the Fox assignment, so you need a little more size to deal with Barnes and Murray.

You might give NAW the Fox assignment so Jaden is more free to help. They will run a lot of screen action to get Jaden off of Fox, so start NAW on him and switch Jaden to him. But your point is valid and it could happen.

Rudy hasn't had the same impact as he did a couple of weeks ago, the team as a whole has seemed kind of off. We can still pull this one off but I'm not too confident about it with KAT being out. Maybe we will rally and level up again in his absence.

We will miss KATs scoring alot. But we won't miss or need the size portion of it. Last time Kings ran us rugged in transitions with fast guard and wing heavy lineups that were shooting quickly and well.

So if we start NAW we should hopefully try to mitigate some of that. NAW is our best fight over or through screens defender by far.

Jaden needs to step up. We need his scoring, especially when Ant is on the bench.

True. But I usually record the games and it's not showing up on the guide. I'm probably jumping the gun.
Or I live too close to Sacramento (5 hrs)

Kings are on a back to back so even without KAT we have a chance. Still a really tough assignment though.

Tough but winnable. I see this as an opportunity game. I just hope the guys do too.

Slomo starting. Could be a good idea. As last year.
