I didn’t mean to suggest you do it the entire game. First we need to take better care of the ball. That adds to time of possession just by itself. I am talking about taking longer in the late 3rd and throughout the 4th. Once you realize they are not cooling down on offense, you make the decision to try and slow the pace as much as possible and limit their total shots. It happens more often than you think. In fact I think the Thibs Wolves were known for shooting late into the clock, though I might be off by a year in either direction.
