You guys really don’t want to assign any blame to Rudy? Put aside the missed free throws, or allowing the King’s to pound us on the offensive glass. Go back and look at his defense in the first quarter. Notice how he just failed to defend anyone on the high screen action. Or notice in OT how he gave Monk uncontested 3s because he didn’t want to close out.

Brian here. The doom and Gloom network is on site (as in I watched the game) and things are not looking good. The Timberwolves barely pulled out a loss tonight against the Sacramento Kings of ….. Sacramento. After spotting the Kings an early lead, the Timberwolves fell apart in the second half when there water turner offer left to witness … water breaking. The other #1 overall pick of the Timberwolves was in peak playoff form and as such the team was left to rely on Naz Reid and Jaden Mcdaniels. Unfortunately the team could not capitalize on the “early” exit of Sabonis and the complete game absence of Fox. If only the team could learn to notice when a player is overwhelmed and over matched and calm them down. Regardless the team still hold a tie for first place on the western conference. A mighty feat considering preseason most fans would be happy with a top 4 finish. Should Anthony Edwards continue to have babies he decides he wants to have, hopefully he can space them far enough apart that he can no longer miss any more games until next season. Until then, this is Brian signing off from The Doom and Gloom Network.

Are you on psychedelics or just mad drunk?

Interesting you should say that. But I was sober at the time. But now I’m drunk…. Thanks to the loss.

Cheers.

Tonight was a good example of what Charles Barkley was saying he doesn't like about our team. KAT doesn't use his size to punish smaller defenders, the Kings got us in a shootout and Monk was giving us fits. We made it easier for the Kings with some turnovers and bad 3 point shots when we could have gotten some easy buckets in the paint.

Also we should have rebounded WAY better than we did. We had a ton of size out there yet Sabonis and smaller guys kept wrecking us on the glass. If you are going to be big it would benefit you to play big, especially when it matters and the other team is beating you in those areas. Sabonis smacked us up in the paint and killed us on the glass.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Remember that we built this team to use Anthony Edwards as our closer. It’s hard to close with bigs.

There is plenty of blame to go around down the stretch. Gobert with turnovers. Naz missed his good look. Our perimeter defenders couldn’t stop Monk. Ant wasn’t there. Towns made mistakes. It just feels like people are scapegoating whoever they didn’t like, going into the game.

Rudy is clearly not 100%. He did not play well tonight giving many offensive rebound. Mike was not good too despite correct data. And KAT is KAT… not a clutch player. I didn’t know about ANT drama story.. it probably explain why he is not totally mature yet :)

The Kings played like it was a statement game. They played tough and simply out-hustled the wolves. Sabonis is a tough matchup for our bigs due to being so physical. However, he gets a lot of nonsense calls too. I don't see how you call that foul on Mike at the end of the 4th.

Would be a fun series to watch that's for sure

Why wouldn't we post up Kat? With Sabonis out it should have been a great move.

As gut-punching as that loss was, for us to even be in the game at the end was a success.

Sabonis wrecks everybody on the glass. That's just the way it is. Letting Monk score play after play after play was what lost us the game.

Rudy wasn't great either, especially in the 1st qrt. With Sabonis out of the game, I would had taken Rudy out and put in a smaller player/shoot to go 5 out or 4 out and Towns post. Also, use two small guys to double team Monk.

Not sure about the double, but I would have used NAW in place of Rudy once Sabonis fouled out. I also would have been tempted to run more offense for Jaden in OT. He had the hot hand and the big night. His confidence was through the roof. Finch gets too set in his ways and it hurts when adjustments are necessary.
