Antoine Walker wants out

Post#1 » by cpfsf » Fri Jun 20, 2008 2:48 pm

Walker wants out: With the Wolves in a youth movement, forward Antoine Walker's agent said he has talked to the team about a trade or buyout of the 12-year veteran's contract.

"Antoine's a heck of a player," agent Mark Bartelstein said. "He wants to play. I wouldn't say anything is imminent, but we're talking to the Wolves and we'll see if we can work something out."

I don't see how this is a new revelation. This has been going on since January/February.

We wish he could still play too. I have to wonder whether Mark was misquoted, with his words condensed. The following was probably the statement in its entirety.

"Antoine's contract is that of a heck of a player," agent Mark Bartelstein said. "He wants to fire up a volley of ill-advised 3s like the good old days, but now his body is such a mess he is unable to play".

I could see Walker being moved draft day. Either in a Wilcox type deal, or for another big guy. We will trade him.

It will probably be worth several visits to the Old Country Buffet for Antoine Walker as well.

Whenever I see a headline like this, it makes me think "Wow, they really shouldn't have locked him in the locker room at the end of the season." But it's the only way he'll shed the pounds. I have faith they'll let him out when he's back to his All-Star Game weight.
