Wolves depth chart after preseason games so far and more

Post#1 » by Mcfale313 » Mon Oct 20, 2008 1:03 am

after watching all the preseason games i figured it was quite obvious for the following depth chart

starter-main reserve-secondary reserve

PG: Randy Foye---- Sebastian Telfair---- Kevin Ollie
SG: Mike Miller---- Rashard McCants----Rodney Carney
SF: Ryan Gomes---- Corey Brewer ---- Rodney Carney
PF: Kevin Love---- Craig Smith----Chris Richard
C: Al Jefferson---- David Harrison----Jason Collins

no PT benchplayer: Blake Ahearn, Brian Cardinal

Now thats 16 players, 3 of 4 from Ahearn, Cardinal, Richard, and Ollie will be on injured reserve list to make the 12 men rotation, Cardinal's contract is guaranteed, so its basically Ahearn, Richard, and Ollie fighting for two spots, now Richard is a big man the wolves want to develop in NBDL, so the 3rd pg spot as well as the last spot of the team will be decided between ollie and ahearn, i wonder who the wolves would choose

Madsen will be on the roster, and he might actually start opening night.

well good point, i forgot maddog....
and he actually started today didnt him?~~
so if we add Madson there, does that mean we cut both Ahearn and Ollie since we dont have any spots left unless we cut Richard or Cardinal?
then we dont have a 3rd pg and like last season when our pgs have injuries that would be so bad.....and gosh Anthony Carter played well today against us.....he wasnt that good with the wolves for some reason....

C Love
PF Jefferson
SF Miller
SG Brewer
PG Foye
6 McCants
7 Gomes
8 Smith
9 Telfair
10 Carney
11 Madsen
12 Ollie

I think I'd go with that.

I agree with Devilz there, though i would have liked to see Harrison get more of a chance here. I mos def think we see a trade at the deadline though with one or more of Cookie/Cardinal/Gomes/McCants/Carney getting shipped out.

it'd be nice if Harrison could be in the rotation at some point, but his first step is to put on shoes and a uniform and play in a game. Where the hell is he anyways, did he get shin splints walking up the Target Center stairs to sign his contract?

C - Jefferson
PF - Love
SF - Gomes
SG - Miller
PG - Foye
6 - McCants
7 - Brewer
8 - Telfair
9 - Smith
10 - Harrison
11 - Carney
12 - Collins

IR - Cardinal, Madsen, Ollie

Richard unfortunately gets cut, unless we don't keep Harrison, or move Collins. I like Harrison's size over Richard, though. Would be nice to be able to move Cardinal and Collins for an expiring, obviously we're tossing in a pick/cash, though. Clock's ticking.

I dont see us keeping the unguaranteed contract of Harrison over the partially guaranteed contract of Richard seeing as I dont think Harrison played at all this preseason. And we kinda know what we are getting out of Richard.

No way Love is a starter (yet). Like most rookies, Love has a lot to learn.

you're probably right; I think the method of making him earn his way in with smart play is proper, but at the same time if it was me personally, I'd want to make sure he knows the expectations and throw him in the fire and make him fight through it. I'd anticipate inconsistent play, but I wouldn't anticipate consistent failure. Plus I want him to log lots of minutes at NBA pace and burn some of those kilojoules those science men are always talkin bout

Harrison had to shine to be kept over Richard, and I don't think he has.
