And yet, he's not getting nearly the same crap that Lopez has got for the last 2 years, even though he's playing way worse than Lopez ever has, and even though he got a max deal as well. The double standard/straight up ignorance when it comes to judging Lopez vs other big men is mind-boggling.

Well to be fair, Hibbert mainly got praise for his postseason play last year and not much more.

Lopez has been talked about a lot because we were really bad when he was injured but people felt that having him back wouldn't do much because (in their minds) "he wasn't that good and that his offensive numbers don't translate to wins".

Also, since the trend has been to have mobile, defensive centers, people don't really know how to rank Lopez as a center. He gets knocked for not playing good defense, but the question then is "how far should he be penalized for not playing good defense, if he does what he does on offense?".

Lopez has never been to the playoffs and that's really where a player's claim to fame comes from. If he gets there and performs well, he'll get his recognition.

It's not about whether he got praise or not...he got a max deal just like Lopez, but everyone said Lopez got so massively overpaid, while that contract is fair for Hibbert...even though Hibbert is playing way worse than Lopez ever has. How is he not getting crap for that deal right now, while Lopez is STILL criticized heavily for his contract, even though he's played pretty well so far?

And Hibbert was horrible in the playoffs too. He went up against two really weak front lines, and got owned. He was soft as hell. He had a couple of good games against Miami, but outside of that, he was pretty bad, even though he was being guarded by guys legitimately 4-5 inches shorter. Bosh didn't even play in that series.

And against a Howard-less Magic team, he still only averaged 11 ppg.

The guy is valuable, simply because he's huge, and he'll have games where he'll use his size and be really aggressive...but overall, he's very disappointing, because he's generally a huge pussy, worse than Lopez.

Well, Hibbert is getting criticized. But not too many people actually concerned about Indiana or are even rivals with Indiana.

Lopez suffers 1) being in a very big market 2)playing on the rival team of the Knicks which has a huge fanbase.

To be frank, the general media doesn't care about Indiana. They do care about New York and the Knicks have many fans. And a lot of those fans hate the Nets.

Couple that with what I mentioned before about Brook not really being your atypical center (way better offensively, then defensively), he's going to get criticized and criticized a lot.

Welcome to the big market. Everything is exaggerated. It comes with the territory.

Writing columns about what's going on in Indiana doesn't sell. You talk about New York and people want to know, even if it's about the opposition.

I never want to hear Lopez considered "overpaid" by the general board or anyone but excuse some of these other bigs who are relaxing.

Lopez per 36: 22ppg, 8 rebounds, 52FG%, 56TS%, 100 Defensive Rating (best defense rating in his career)

Collison is playing well in Dallas while Hill and Augustin can't run an offensive set to save their lives, Granger isn't going to help them that much and Hibbert is beyond overrrated. He clearly relaxed after getting a massive contract.

How was that not a foul? Smith basically held Gay down.

We should have went after Sheed BTW.

I don't get why everyone is killing them over tonight. This was a very good game that they only lost due to lack of size. Carmelo on Gasol is going to be an awful matchup for them each and everytime. Nothing about losing to Memphis changes how well they have played aside from the fact Memphis is a bad matchup for them which can be said for Miami too.

Memphis is clearly an all around team and best in the West. It's going to be nice not having to hear "undefeated" Knicks anymore.

Man, we should have been 6-1. Smh.

Oh well, now the Nets/Knicks are officially on an even playing field.

I hate how everyone says we traded Lillard for Wallace....NOOOO! If we had kept out pick Lillard would have not been selected. Even if he was he would've been traded.

One thing that wasn't reported was that D-Will was injured too.

He said that there was muscle between his achilles and ankle that was bothering him and it flared up in the 3rd quarter of the game, but of course, that gets little attention.

Wasn't that when he had that collision during the game?

Yup, when he did that spin move that's when it flared up.

Yea I watched the post game interview when he said that. He sucked it up and played ball and hit some clutch free throws too.
