This is what makes it more hilarious. Watch him trade Lopez for Jeremy Lin.

that team isnt great, but you dont need to be great to get the 8 seed. we are what 1 game out despite being 21-31? I dont think anyone is excited because this team is gonna get to the playoffs and upset atlanta or washington or cleveland. Or that anyone thinks reggie jackson will be harden and a guy you can build around...

I think the perception is not making this trade means we likely dont make the playoffs, and this at worst has us there still fighting for it. and gives us a more exciting product to watch at the mean time, or at least something new to watch the rest of the year.

And a salary dump isnt the worst thing. gaining the ability to S&T, full MLE, BAE helps our flexibility a bit. Lopez and KG were not part of the short term future anyhow, both would likely be let expire if they stuck around.

I'm not sure what dark days are ahead.... at 21-31, one of the leagues worst records in Jan/Feb, all 3 our best players struggling with play, health and 2 no longer starting. i mean, to me it doesnt get much worse.

I'm VERY happy we will ahve some athletes i can watch and maybe a more uptempo style. i like our chances to stay in the race for the 8 seed. after all we would still be built aroud deron/joe/mason and i cant see jackson being much worse then jack.

but mainly... the plan doesnt change: Don't take on salary into 16-17, make minor moves where you can to get under the tax or add youth/athleticism prior, then do what you can with your assets and space and reshape the face of the team in 2 years.

2015-16 was always going to be a year we took our lumps. i think making a playoff push this year is something that is critical and i think we at least changed gears to try and do that with these 2 trades if they happen. also it gives us a more exciting team to watch next year when we do have to take those lumps

I six I was fine with any rebuild move. But I expect looking that roster on paper we get vastly worse not better in pursuit of the playoffs. I think you have always under valued Lopez. Not that I think the criticisms are unfair...but the comparison of him to other players as if some of the hot buttered trash offered was an improvement in win now talent is my issue.

Hope I am wrong and somehow we improve.

And side note. I cringe when I read things about players fitting this coach. Unless you have Phil Jackson coaching you....that shouldn't be in the conversation. Not to mention I don't know how anyone is happy to have this guy coaching this team.

Well not only are we stuck we same sad cast of characters we are now more of a lock to miss the playoffs as the Heat with Dragic are a lock to make it. Just another day in the life of a Nets fan.

Dragic on the Heat is a pretty big deal, good move for them.

I have to admit. This deal works out much better for OKC than the deal they had with us.

It's more athletic than what we have now, and honestly getting younger players is a lot better than staying pat and watching this garbage roster wallow away like they have all season long. Deron Williams is a dog, and Lopez is not even overrated anymore, he's a one dimensional soft player who doesn't make the team any better when he's on the floor or without him.

Excited? I would say I'm excited to see the team regaining flexibility and getting two young players in light of us not having draft picks. I'm looking ahead, what are you looking at??

I am looking at a fan base that despises the best player in the deal and wants him out at all costs. I am looking at posts about players fitting a mediocre coach who is kind of an A hole rather than a coach who fits the players

I am looking at a team that will go from mediocre to 76ers bad but without the draft picks and young lottery prospects.

Athletic? Just bring in a high school team and hand them Nets uniforms. They won't do much worse if that is what you want.

The only moves I want are ones that clear the deck from all salary and add future trade assets. If this does that then so be it. But listing the lineup like these guys aren't as bad as the 12 win days? Nope. Can't do that.

This deadline is insane. OKC/Jazz/Pistons 3 way. Dragic to Heat. KG to Minny. Now reports of Knight going to Phoenix (WUT? Trade Dragic coz of logjam at PG only to replace him with Knight?!?!)

Apparently Isaiah Thomas to Celtics (explains the trade to acquire Knight I guess)

Maybe i have undervalued lopez as a player. but i think you overrate his impact on winning.

We were better without him last year. there are several reasons that dont have to do with lopez as to why that isnt the case. We are also better without lopez this year (5-5 without him, 16-26 with him). maybe that is a small sample. Either way, this season, brook lopez surely isnt the difference between us being a .400 team and a .200 team.

I think it is going overboard to suggest we get much much worse with jackson in place of lopez.
