You know, watching this game I just want to say a couple things.

Maybe I've been a little hard on expectations of next year and the future of this team if we get Melo, simply on regular season record.

We all tend to be knee jerk and maybe I have been to, but only regular season wise.

Maybe this team can win 50 or so games after this trade next season.

Maybe Brook can turn back into that beast.

But, I just want to reiterate, that does not change my opinion, that this team would not be a true contender by any means and would still be a Chris Paul away from it. No question about it. No small bandaid fixes or MLE signings would turn this team into a real contender, we will always be a star away.

But, I've been wildin' a little lately with all the speculation and I refuse to change my stance, but just remember, my goal is never to try and stop you from voicing your opinion or believing what you will, or especially from rooting for this team, having faith and being optimistic, I simply want to put facts out there, voice my own opinion and put things in perspective.

I'm sorry if it feels differently or if you have personally felt insulted, I don't mean to piss on your parade, I just have bigger aspirations for this team and maybe it's because of so many years following such a shunned on and disrespected franchise coupled with being spoiled by such an epic and emotionally attached team as the J Kidd era, even if we were the Buffalo Bills of the NBA for that time period, I expect more, or feel entitled to have the privilege to be in that mix again.

Viva el Nets!

And then I'd like to know how he and Yormark are going to market a losing team with a bleak outlook going into Brooklyn.

Can't believe we would do something like that and if we did and it backfired in our face, I honestly may be out.

If by some slim chance I wasn't out, I would be the most cantankerous Proky hating prick that this site has ever seen and the board would probably be a better place without me.

I think this is pretty much spot on towards how most fans feel. Chris Paul should be the ultimate goal no matter what happens with Melo. To me here's the million dollar question I struggle with - What is the best way to get him?

1- Keep all of our assets, hope that Favors/Brook/our top 5 pick grow together quicker. Hope the timing of Brooklyn works in our advantage. Make some smart moves with non-core pieces (Harris etc.) - and try to get Paul by offering the best possible package and convincing him to come here.

or

2- Do the Melo deal knowing we're in the driver seat and spend the next 2 years shedding non-essential players' salaries (Outlaw, Rip, whoever else comes back) to make it happen. (basically do what the Knix did the past 2 years).

Admittedly I'm swinging towards #2 purely out of the fact that basketball will at least be more fun over the next year. Route one would require Billy King to make a lot of savy moves I'm not confident he can make. Maybe I'm crazy but I think next year if Rip has 1 year + a big buyout left and he is playing well - he'll be tradable. I definitely think he'll be tradeable in the 2012 offseason with only 1 year left on his deal.

As for Outlaw we need to pray there is a 1 time buyout clause this offseason.

Dam its going to be hard to make the playoffs.Indy has a soft schedule but Philly has a tuff one.I was hoping we could get a few more wins before the trade goes down. Those close losses really hurt.43 games left we can do this!!

I don't know if I've ever seen a tactic so belligerent, arrogant, obnoxious and underhanded in a NBA trade as the shenanigans Ujiri, Kroenke and co. are pulling right now.

They're obviously stalling in an attempt to create more Nets losses in order to increase the value of our pick.

Even if Melo doesn't want to ultimately come here, this is obviously the plan, or they would have already allowed us a face to face meeting to find out.

If this delay is ongoing and I was King and co., I'm immediately taking the 2011 NJ pick off the table or placing top 10 protection on it at minimum. It would be a straight up deal breaker.

I'd call their bluff and say fine, you take Gallo, a 2014 1st and the crappy mid 20's first you're gonna get from AR being shipped to a third team and screw. Have fun with that luxury tax.

I can't believe we're allowing them to strong arm us like this.

Maybe it's just all faulty assumption and speculation and King is thinking exactly the same?

We'll see...

I agree 100%. The whole threaten trade to the knicks was utter BS.. it's a shame this is happening with an amateur in Ujiri, if this were an experienced GM this deal would have been completed a long time ago. I'm pretty sure other GM's are getting pissed off by his lack of professionalism.

DEFINITELY. Not to mention the ultimate slap in the face when they leaked that they were unhappy with all the leaks getting out. AMATEUR HOUR.

If this team wasn't so desperate for a direction of any kind (Prokhorov) we would have walked away from the table LONG AGO and Denver would be begging just to get Favors, let alone everything else.

Either way it doesn't matter. Ujiri's time in the spotlight is going to be over in a couple of weeks. George Karl is going to pull out of there faster then Shawn Kemp in a strip club. JR Smith will be jacking 20 shots/night. Ty Lawson and Nene will have trouble creating their own shots without the presence of Melo. With any luck none of the draft picks we give them will be in the lottery.

And the most important thing our FO has to remember is that they're the one's between a hard place and a rock. They're the one's that are limited by time because if they don't pull off a trade they'll end up getting absolutely nothing in return for Melo leaving. I've said it before, if they really want to play games with other teams with less than a month left till the trade deadline then let them. We aren't the one's desperate to get something in return for a departing star.

Its pretty simple from what I understand...Avery/Billy are-were willing to walk away from this deal a long time ago...they're basically being handcuffed by Mik/Yormak and company and this deal has spiraled out of control...

Its potentially a franchise suicide, unless they're able to pull a rabit out of a hat...maybe the Nets front office has a couple moves up their sleeves post-Melo trade...but at this point, its all wishful thinking to believe we're attempting to build a championship contender...

There is no next move, we're just trying to bring a name to this team...its a wait and see game for the Nets front office and I've grown to accept that...

As for the Nuggets, unless they can get back and dump what they want now...don't be surprised if they roll the dice and let Melo walk this summer (even though I initially laughed at that idea) ...I truly believe they're STILL trying to convince him to stay, even though he might have one foot out the door...

Publicity-wise for the Nets, letting PR leak on this situation...as much as they feel its GOOD PR, this whole Melo masquerade has become a bigger and bigger joke in my eyes...And the writing is on the wall for Nets and where we might be headed as an organization...I just hope I'm really wrong...

Either way, if this deal goes down, Prok. better be willing to shell out millions for second rounders/late firsts, because that's the only way their going to be able to build this team with some decent talent.

And to think, this is the 2nd Melo thread.

The original one went 18 pages before this one was started.
