Re: E this is for you. Sean May to sign with Nets.
So you are saying that a rebounding big man with low minutes per game...has a me first playing style?
I guess I didnt pick up on that. Typically...guys who arent go to offensive options...dont really make that impact on me to be a me first player.
Just see him as a role guy...grab some boards...guard someone...hold the spot for Favors while he learns on the job.
And you know I think fans over think starting status. Favors is the go to PF. He will just get to ease in and hopefully become a starter in a reasonable time period.

No way should this useless roster spot have gone to Ike Diogu. Diogu has his own FAT problems and he's coming off micro-fracture surgery.

USELESS PIECE OF CRAP...YOU GIANT TUB OF GOO.
Maybe it is Prokhorov's idea to use his goo so nobody can make fun of him?

On a serious note though I wouldn't be surprised if he got cut like a month into the season or something unless he decides to quit eating all those damn twinkies

See, i already have realized that with teams like Miami and Chicago getting better there's no room for us for the top prize, not even in our own division. So, again, like E said, we can just keep sucking and pile up talented kids from the draft and sign good players on good contracts until our team is finally on a good position to make a grand move for a superstar and by that time, we will be in a more desirable location in Brooklyn. I think, eventhough we missed out bigtime on superstar FA's this offseason, we are still in a great position and perfect timing as we wait for the Brooklyn move.
Now, there's also one more move that i would like them to make. A team like the Heat, who will consistently try to muscle us inside because players like Bron and Wade are not really good shooters, i would try to add another long body, just a cheap shot blocking SF/PF just enough to disrupt anybody that tries to drive to the basket. He doesnt have to be an everyday plyer but someone who can play a bit of defense when somebody is in foul trouble. Remember that these Refs will still give that star player treatment so our big guys should be ready for that.
I would waive Q. Ross to make a space for that player because i dont think he has no use for us since Avery clearly stated that TWill is not a 3.
Per 36 minutes...doesnt OUtlaw average like a block a game? Just saying because you said an SF/PF type...and that is sort of what he is.
THe one kid I would have liked is Fernandez. I got shot down in another thread....but I think for a mil...and he is out there...if you can get him cheap...I say do it. I think he got crunched in Portland. Not saying he would have so much more time here with all the swingmen we have...but I thik he is a value pick up. I like him more than C.Lee...who I think is over rated....and I dont want to give up a first for Rudy straight up...which is what they want. But I would give Lee...or Ross+ a 2nd rounder for him.
He has self creator talent on offense. He wont be a star...but he can absolutely play. Worst case scenario...its just another value talent pick up on a dirt cheap contract to add to a trade later....or that will get minutes with us BECAUSE others got added into a trade.
Eventually landing him could lead to more value for us later.

I cant argue for Ike anymore because of the surgery. However, he was not a tub of goo like May. He had absolute legit skills. Short and stocky yes...but NOT a tub of goo.
At this stage....he has not gotten an opportunity and his value has dropped. Add in the injury...I can understand anyone not wanting to take a flyer on him. However, this kid asolutely had significantly more potential than May....who GOT more opportunity and couldnt do jack with it.,
Whenever Ike played big minutes in a game...he had a big game to go with it.
HE had LEGIT post moves...and he was strong as an ox. I think I ke could have been "Brand lite". Sean May was the doody that came out of Big Baby. He was Marcus Fizer HEAVY from day one. THis is without question...his last stop. May will show a thing here and there...but then he will crap the bed.

All the more reason to have a non guaranteed contract right?
I think the Nets did things right. Once they decided not to go after any high priced guys after striking out on the big three....they filled the roster with as much talent per dollar as they could while maintaining MAX cap space for an opportunity later.
I really dont care who we added for this role. BRING BACK DOUBLE NICKEL BABY!!!!
I wouldnt have cared all that much. Diogu was just a sentimential fav for me.

Ike and Sean are the same to me...both are worth non-guaranteed contracts until they prove otherwise..simply as that. This move is just us inviting Sean to training camp..and he'll probably be cut.

No E... What i meant was... As of right now, we have 7 guards and 8 F/C's but what i want is 6 guards and 9 F/C's. This way we can protect the inside more and have more bodies to use just in case the Refs screw us by giving superstar calls to players like Wade, Bron and Bosh, who happen to be on the same team. Im just worried that if the Refs would call an unfair game especially with a young team like us and we dont have enough big bodies or long arms in there, then every game against a team like them will end up being a blowout.
We have to factor in how the Refs call the games nowadays because no matter how good can we be but if the Refs decides to give more favor to them, we will find ourselves digging beyond the bench and if Avery looks and there's nobody waiting there, then we'd be in deep trouble again.

YOu mean you want to make a small trade? Which perimiter guy would you want to deal?
FOr me...Lee is lowest on the list. For Taj Gibson work for you?

I think that was fair...and probably true. I just happen to HATE one...and on draft day LOVED the other. I think you can understand why it would have been more fun to give the flyer to the guy I...and some others had a fondness for, right?
But in the end...if May works out...fine with me. Except of course...it would make BASKETCASE'S freakin' year. Cant have that Nancy struttin' around here with a win now...can we???

Omg... Are you kidding? I would trade Lee for Taj in a heartbeat! Man, i think it would be a steal because he's still in a rookie contract, he's a hard worker, he can rebound, his defense is decent and he has offense. We also dont have to give up a lot for him and still very young. Actually, i would rather have him than paying Scola, David Lee and even Stoudamire lots of money because we all know this year we're not going anywhere anyways so if this can happen then im all for it.
But what i want to know is if what i was saying make sense. Would you guys be fine having 6 guards, 6 F's and 3 C's? As a young team, you bet we're gonna get screwed in some games with the way the referees are calling the games now, and all it would take is just one look from Wade and a yell from Bron and it's over. So for me, i'd rather have more big guys so we wont be playing scared and ruin the game plan. And since TWill can play both guard position, we have more flexibility, if he stays healthy.

Re: E this is for you. Sean May to sign with Nets.
I think you are right. I guess I am just not that invested in wins this coming season. As stated at length in other threads....we arent a playoff team. So all I want to see is player development. Now, if a trade creates more minutes for guys I think have more upside...great. But for more wins...nah...doesnt do it for me. Baring a big trade or two...I am in it for the3 ping pong balls again.
I know that is hard for most fans to root for....but its our best path to being a contender again. THe best path to landing superstars. The elite of players. A chance to have a superstar making rook cash for a few years. So I guess I dont over think...what we need on the court for the coming season all that much. I just want to see tha talent come through. Twill, Brook, Favors. Did we get a steal with James? WIll the real Lee please stand up? Morrow can you break out with that shot and be the next Redd? IS Outlaw a steal or a bad signing? Devin Harris...cna you stay healthy long enough to restore your trade value so we can ship you out of here for more?
Farmar, Petro, Hump....are what they are.
So that's it for me. That is what this year means. Not win...development...and oportunity.

Re: E this is for you. Sean May to sign with Nets.
Im on the same page with you E. Putting more bodies on the court is my only way to protect Brook for becoming foul prone. I believe that if we have to be contenders in a few years and if we want to attract bigtime players, we're gonna need someone to step up and have an allstar year at least. Brook should be one of the guys and more bodies means more playing time for Brook and not the other way around. We need more big bodies out there just as an insurance that if need be we know we have someone to plug in there. For me, having more bodies doesnt translate for more wins, i believe we're still gonna be the same, a 20 something win team, which is enough to get a top 5 lottery pick and hopefully this time around we screw someone and get the top pick.
You are right E, nobody really wants to lose and lose bad every year but losing more means a better chance for us to get great players from the draft and a quicker fix. Especially with the way teams now are constructed, that would be the ultimate goal. We lose and get the top player from the draft, Brook for an allstar year, Favors showing his potential and in two years, while moving to Brooklyn, we might get a more decent shot of landing a superstar talent whether it'd be from a trade or a straight up signing.

Re: E this is for you. Sean May to sign with Nets.
Why I hope he makes the team
1.They needed another pf bad.
2.He's young.
3.He's big
4.If he can stay healthy and in shape he is a 17 and 8 guy per minutes. For us he would just be a great guy for Favors to play with in practice and show him the ropes a little.
5.He can score in bunches.
6.He can play the 5, maybe even better suited for it ala Glen Davis
7.Loved him in college
8.Has lotto pick talent
9.Not black hole like Humpries
10.If you double Brook this dude will score.
11.Excellent rebounder.
12.Only problem was his shape, now he's gotta tryout should see his best
13.Excellent personality
14.Can fit into what the Nets are building and be here for the next 7-10 years
15.Kris Humpries is a black hole.
16.Nets would just have awesome depth if he worked out.
17.Very coachable.
18.Has very advanced post moves.
19.Stretches Defense
20.Cheap contract (KING DON"T CUT HIM, SIGN HIM FOR THE YEAR, THIS WOULD MAKE AN EXCELLENT FIRST MOVE FOR YOU)
21.He clearly just needs a chance.
22.Young and competetive but perfect backup for Favors and Brook.
23.Gives Nets 5 bigs 5 wings 2 pg's who can play good minutes which is exactly what you need.

He was the best passing big man in the league when he was healthy enough to waddle down the court. For those two or three weeks he showed he could really play.

Time for what? Time to make the donuts?
I said he would be a bust the day he was drafted. Nothing has changed. I said he was a tub of goo. Nothing has changed. So a matter of time for what? Someone to give him another chance to porve he is a tub of goo?
