Diesel Fuel for the Season?

Let me know what you think.

O'Neal, Davis and Parker for Jefferson, Collins, Magloire and Wright (Trade ID #4387963)

The Nets would return a hometown hero in his declining years, but the attention he still commands could help relieve pressure on VC and Kidd. Moving RJ hurts, but returning Davis softens the blow.

Kidd, Carter, Davis, Williams, O'Neal
Williams, Parker, Nachbar, Boone, Krstic

yes please, we finally get a big man and we don't mortgage any of our future. idc about his age he's still effective and more than anybody we can put in. like ecuhus said he demands so much attention he will give everyone wide open shots. yes please and we can finally contend for a ring.

Heck no!
Shaq has a contract that last's till 2010 and even though atm he's still somewhat effective(nowhere near what he used to be) giving up RJ for him and his crazy contract is laughable.
Ricky isnt playing well this season either , Miami made a bad decision when they traded Walker a.k.a fatty for him

And just for the record no offence guys, BUT STOP PUTING RJ IN TRADE's.

The guy is the heart and soul of this team, he flipin played sick last night and scored 28 points.
Thats the kind of passion the guy gives this club.

I thought it would be better to surrender RJ and return Davis and his expiring contract, than having to trade one of our 3 young bigmen. MIA fans unanimously like the idea, but they might find Krstic intruiging.

Would a deal like O'Neal, Johnson and Anthony for Collins, Magloire, Nachbar, Krstic, Wright and two picks (Trade ID #4389487)be better? I imagine the picks would be our 2008 1st and 2010 2nd. I'm not sure MIA would go for it, but is that the basic understanding I hear?

To sum it up, I'm asking if this is true:

{Giving RJ for Shaq + Davis <<< Giving Krstic + 2 picks for Shaq}

If so, let me know, and I'll see how Heat fans feel about it.

^ sure i'd do that second deal too but i mean davis is still a good player and he wouldn't be asked to do that much except shoot the open 3. besides, shaq's contract will end just in time for us to move to brooklyn meaning we'll be major players in free agency the summer before we move to brooklyn so i don't mind that trade at all.

Edit: I almost like the first deal better because we don't give up either of our 3 young bigmen like ecuhus said but also we don't give up any picks in the first deal either. sure RJ hurts but i mean as long as carter is here he isn't the first scoring option.

Interesting reactions:

NJ fans want to get a big man and willing to trade RJ to get him.

But SHAQ isn't talented enough to be of interest.

I'm not saying that view is necessarily wrong, but it sure is interesting just how low Shaq's stock is as this time.

Extremely risky trade.

On top of the fact Shaq is on a super fast decline and his absurd contract, Ricky Davis is an expiring which means if we want to keep him next year he's gonna be looking to get paid. And I do think we would want to keep him, and although he would be a lot cheaper than RJ, he would still want a deal starting at at least around 8 mil a year.

I was actually thinking about a similar situation myself, of course involving Shaq being traded to New Jersey. Ultimately, I concluded that Shaq IS worthy of being traded for. People say that he's not not talented anymore...I don't agree. I think he's just extremely unmotivated.

The biggest obstacle would be his disgusting contract. Shaq would have to be willing to accept considerably less, albeit for a great chance at a championship, in order to make something like this work. Plus Shaq would be able to play in front of his home crowd.

it would be a great homecoming... if it was still 2001 ...... shaq is done as far as im concerned... if he came cheaper then yea id do it but hes still getting paid as if he was the most dominant big man in the game, which he clearly isnt anymore... anyway riley said hes not moving him, so it wont happen
