Things will even out during the season, but it sure is fun to see Matthews' hot start while McDavid and Laine are somewhat cold a bit early.

The Marner-Bozak-JVR line are all well in the minus already, despite scoring well.

Just awful defensively.

Id like to see Marner with Marleau and Kadri. Maybe put Leo or Brown with JVR and Bozak.

The problem with Bozak and JVR is that there's not a lot of creativity and puckhandling ability between the two, so putting someone with some (Marner) at least kinda makes some sense from an offensive standpoint.

Bozak and JVR have been defensively awful for years. Just play way too soft in their own zone. I think we let JVR walk this offseason anyways. Can't see us ponying up the $7-8 million it'd probably cost to keep him.

I like to see most of the leftovers from the pre-2016 years gone. Kadri is probably the only one worth keeping right now as his value exceeds his contract.

Good win, strong performance by Freddie. Offense is so dynamic, it creates so many scoring chances. It's a lot of fun watching this style then what the Leafs tried to be the past 15 years.

Its time to get Martin out of the lineup. Its 2017, you cant have a guy who just hits and fights in your lineup. Put Leivo in there and maybe him and Marner can get something going.

And the best part is their two best defensive prospects are with the Marlies. Dermott could have easily made the team this year. They look like they'll have a controlled cost Dcorps for years and could overspend to retain Gardiner, if need be.
