KB2011 MOCK: 11th Pick Warriors Select Chris Singleton

Post#1 » by moocow007 » Sat Jun 4, 2011 11:35 pm

With a talented back court duo of Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry things appeared to look bright for the Warriors heading up to the 2010-2011 season. Adding perennial double-double rebounder in David Lee as a free agent from NY in the offseason and the emergence of Dorell Wright on paper made the Warriors a formidable team. But paper never translated and the Warriors fans suffered through another disappointing season...leading them once again to the NBA lottery.

Selected already

1. Kyrie Irving
2. Derrick Williams
3. Brandon Knight
4. Enes Kanter
5. Jonas Valanciunas
6. Jan Vesely
7. Kemba Walker
8. Bismack Biyombo
9. Kawhi Leonard
10. Alec Burks

With Andris Biedrin's confidence apparently at an all time low, it's obvious why the Warriors need (unless one believes that Udoh is ready for starter minutes) but...alas...there are no centers worth of being selected here.

So...what to do? What to do?

I'm going to go with Tristan Thompson here. I think Thompson offers up some defensive abilities out of the box at PF behind David Lee, has upside and fits the Warriors uptempo rotation.

If Monta gets dealt, Jimmer

If Monta is kept(Which should happen and I bet will), Singleton. Chris got my vote.

Jerry West was just hired as an adviser & will determine who gets selected

Jerry West sees the similarities to Kobe and takes Marshon brooks here

Donatas, they really need a center. I could see them going with him an hoping he fits the bill for their team.

Their best move is to trade down with Utah or draft Jimmer and hold him hostage with Utah for future picks.

(I believe Utah basically HAS to get Jimmer for marketing reasons. So somebody should take advantage, and this is as good a spot as any for a team like GS to make a move).

But for the sake of the mockdraft, I concur with the general consensus here -- There is no consensus.

If the Warriors go Singleton, they'll have really nice defensive potential. Weird to think about.

They will trade down or take the best available 2 guard someone bigger then Ellis to form the back court. I see either a trade or 2/3 combo who would be left there? Someone bigger the 6' 6" so he can man either 2 or 3 spot
