KB2011 MOCK: 15th Pick Pacers Select Jimmer Fredette

Fresh off of a nice run in the playoffs, the young upstarts from Indiana are a team on the rise. Led by Danny Granger the Pacers have an otherwise youthful lineup with strong talent up and down in Roy Hibbert, Paul George, Darren Collison and Tyler Hansbrough. So what do they do here? George may be viewed as more of a SF than a SG and there's been talk that moving Granger might be an option (and Brandon Rush doesn't appear to part of their future plans). So SG or do they look to add more depth and offensive potency upfront where only Hibbert and Hansbrough are under contract for next season.

I think it'll be either a SG or a PF, that is obvious IMHO. Jimmer is probably BPA here but Motiejunas could give them a real interesting complement to Hibbert and Hansbrough at either C or PF positions...especially from an offensive skills standpoint. I think it's one or the other.

I really don't see Jimmer lasting this long but if he does, no way in hell does he get past Indy. They need a power forward but they need a long and athletic, defensive shot-contesting type OR a spread-the-floor type. The latter description figures to be off the board at this point. Ken Faried does fit from a certain standpoint. Though considering Tyler Hansbrough's emergence, I can't see him (who owns a similar motor and height---and far less polished offensive game) being picked here. Tyler didn't impress on the glass this year but watching the guy for all these years we all know that he battles underneath. And I think they have big plans for him. Faried would be redundant here. Jimmer, if he makes it this far, is the pick. I mean, this is Larry Bird's team, right? We know his steez.

I think IND would make a play to get OJ Mayo at draft day(They nearly got him at the deadline) and then get a big for insurance of Jeff Foster but since we really can't predict trades, Jimmer gets the vote here.

Why would Indy draft Jimmer when they have other needs and a great up and coming pg in Collison? I'm not saying it won't happen, but there are some players they could use more and who rate higher considering who is left (Like Morris or Motiejunas and even Ferried.)

Voted Jimmer because I believe this is the slot he goes. It's obvious that the Pacers have some decent young talent at all positions, so they can go any direction. I think this is the perfect spot for any team to trade up and get Jimmer and the Pacers have let it be known that their willing to deal.

Jordan Hamilton is on the poll 2x.

I went against the grain with this pick and gave them Vucevic. It is rumored that Donatas Motiejunas might not be able to get out of his contract, which could cause him to slip pretty far. I selected Vucevic because Foster is getting up there in age and has hinted at retiring. Vucevic gives them a backup C with some decent size, which is an area of need for them.

Staying where the Knicks are I think it is important they draft Tyler. He has a followers type of personality and he will be lead to the right direction by Amare, MDA, and Melo. He could be opening night starter easily guy was top 1 pick before he skipped last year of high school.

I went with Jimmer. I dont think Indy would pass on him. Love him to fall to the Knicks but i dont think its happening.

They want an athletic defensive PF, maybe someone like Tristan, but since he's gone, Jimmer easily.
He can be there Jason Terry of the bench for them. If Lance ever gets his head straight he and Jimmer would complement each other nicely in their second unit backcourt.
