KB2011 MOCK: 16th Pick 76ers Select Markieff Morris

Post#1 » by moocow007 » Sun Jun 12, 2011 3:05 am

Like the Pacers, the Sixers made it to the playoffs and looked solid despite losing in the first round. Pacers have talent (an interesting mix of veterans and young players) and are lead by a terrific head coach in Doug Collins. That said, with recent trade rumors about their best player (Igoudala) being shopped, anything can happen come draft time. Figure Jrue Holiday at PG and Evan Turner at SG are probably safe. And with one of the better 6th man in the NBA in Lou Williams figure the Sixers to go front court here.

Selected already

1. Kyrie Irving
2. Derrick Williams
3. Brandon Knight
4. Enes Kanter
5. Jonas Valanciunas
6. Jan Vesely
7. Kemba Walker
8. Bismack Biyombo
9. Kawhi Leonard
10. Alec Burks
11. Chris Singleton
12. Klay Thompson
13. Tristan Thompson
14. Marcus Morris
15. Jimmer Fredette

Vucevic as the only C remaining makes sense. Spencer Hawes, who has really not looked good since coming to the NBA, is really their only C right now...with the 35 year old Tony Battie their only backup.

Definitely Motiejunas here.. Philly is fairly deep, so they'll probably be going BPA.

It won't be a 6'8" guy...those are Doug Collins' words.
So we can eliminate Honeycutt, Hamilton, Brooks, Faried, Shumpert, etc.
Vucevic makes a lotta sense here BUT is he better than Hawes, Brand or Speights?
Does he bring something they don't?
He is big but he doesn't project as a class defender or shot blocker.
They play pretty good defense as is but their offense is suspect.
And if they move playmaking catalyst Iggy (which is likely), they figure to be even more inept on offense.
Motie has a package of skills they have no where on their roster.
It wouldn't shock me to see them pick him or even 'Kieff Morris at this point but I think they pick Donatas (especially if his buyout issues can be resolved).
I say Motie.

I think they'll take Motie if he's still on the board.

Have a feeling Donatas buyout situation(He's locked up for 2 years supposedly) could have him slipping all the way to the 20's, yes including over the Knicks.

I think Philly will grab Morris and ultimately leave the Knicks to take Brooks.....

I would go with Motie if I was them, but I think they will play it safe and go with Kieff

That is why I picked him with the last two polls. Donatas Motiejunas is also a pf/c, but he probably won't be let out of his current contract. I think Vucevic makes sense here.

They need a bigman and Dontas makes alot of sense. A top 10 player slipping to 16? BPA wins over any kind of need in this situation.

I think its between 'Kieff and Motie

Doug Collins doesnt want any undersized players..

But he does want players that will be able to come in right away..

Motie might have to stay overseas a few more years, and Kieff is a 6'8 PF, with short arms

Im torn between the two, and due to "innie-minnie-miney-moe" Motie is the pick.

Hmm, I see I'm going to have to choose between Motie and Vucevic for the Knicks pick.

I think Iggy will be traded so I went with Jordan Hamilton.

I'll take Motie/Vucevic over the combo-guard chuckers. See what I did there?

But Brooks isn't a combo guard...so No, I didnt see what you did.

And, I like them both, dont get me wrong..I just think IF we get a C, his role should be grabbing rebounds, blocking shots, and playing D, not standing at the 3-point line waiting for Melo/STAT to get double teamed
