KB2011 MOCK: 18th Pick Wizards Select Marshon Brooks

Post#1 » by moocow007 » Wed Jun 15, 2011 1:24 am

The second of the Wizards 2 first round picks in this here mock (they selected PF Jan Vesely with the 6th overall pick), the Wizards could be looking for a running mate for Wall in the backcourt perhaps? While they may be looking to bring back Nick Young I think they may be better off just parting ways (especially after Ol Nick said, regarding giving the Wizards a hometeam discount..."Moma didn't raise no dumb boy"). And there's obviously a real nice looking SG on the board that could be perfect fits with both Wall and Vesely in a revamped Wizard lineup.

Selected already can be found by here

I could be going out on a limb here but my guess is Marshon Brooks. He's just seems like the perfect compliment to Wall and has the best potential among remaining players to bring excitement and put butts in the seats.

They have had Tobias Harris in for a couple of workouts, so they might be targeting him with this pick.

Their biggest weaknesses are maturity and professionalism. I can see them going with someone that oozes the two, particularly off the court and in the locker room. Tobias would be a good pick but drafting two small forwards sounds....Knick-ish and I'm doubtful they want to develop two young players at the same position (sf). I think they take Faried and hope his work ethic and tenacity rubs off on their frontline.

Nick Young, aka their 2nd best offensive player last season, is a FA and if I were the Wizards I'd just let him go. Last thing the Wizards need to do is to give a big contract to a guy who really didn't do much of anything until his contract year and who is part of the brain dead culture that the Wizards are trying to get away from. Andray Blatche should be the next guy they look to jettison and move forward with a new face, a new attitude and a new team personality.

I would swap Tobias Harris with Singler in the poll.

These kind of picks are pretty dependent on who they take with their first pick. The Jazz, Wizards, Bobcats, Wolves, and Bulls all have two picks. Its tough. But if they do choose a SF like Kawai or Vesly at 6 then Im going with Brooks here. Potential replacement for Nick Young w/o the airheadness.

Done. I thought he was actually in the poll already. As el loco said, it looks like the Wizards are really interested in Harris.

Change your vote, I added Harris and took out Singler.

I think Honeycutt here. Jordan Crawford came on strong at the SG spot and I don't think Brooks would fit in with what Flip Saunders would like. Flip needs a defensive ace on the squad and would go with Honeycutt here.....he isn't going to be a flashy player but he will be a guy who can come off the bench and be somewhat like Thabo is for OKC.

Hmmm...I forgot about Crawford. Great point...about possibly not Brooks. I changed my vote to Faried.

I actually forgot about Jordan Crawford. I know he had a crappy FG% but he has some good scoring potential. I loved him at Xavier. Even Marshon himself compared his game to Jordan and Jamal Crawford. Maybe they think Marshon is a clear upgrade though.

Hmmm. I may have to rethink this. Dont know if theyd take Tobias Harris after taking Vesley in THIS mock, but it seems in real life they might not be taking a SF at 6 if they're very interested in Tobias at 18. Who knows? Hed be a good fit.

Im going with Tobias Harris. Just based on them bringing him in for multiple workouts. I think he could work well there but their are a ton of options at 18.

Much like us, the Wiz need an enforcer type who does the dirty work. Id go with Faried.

I still cant believe Motiejunas was our pick. :(

They got their enforcer last year with Booker...they don't need Faried. I think they go with Harris...incredibly hard working, two way player. They're set at SG with Crawford and Young...need a SF.
