Head Coach: Rick Adelman- In rick's 23 year coaching career, Adelman has only missed the playoff's 5 times. He has never won the big game, but he has a ton of playoff experience. He has also never had a team that was constructed like the one he has for the Hornets. Adelman was Rubio for the rest of the season. He should be able to take that Timberwolf team to the plalso an NBA player which i think it is important when your coaching players in the NBA. Its something young and veteran players can relate too. Adelman had a young team overachieving with teh TImberwolves last season, untill the injury bug hit and then lostayoffs this season and this Hornet team to the Finals.
Rotation
C: Andrew Bynum- Bynum when healthy is the 2nd best center in the league. He is probably the best post scorer at his position and is a great rebounder/defender/shot blocker as well. His whole career he has played with Kobe/Pau and other -big name players and never really had the chance to be "the man". I think in real life Bynum will be a 22/12/2/1 type of player with Philly and should be able to put up similar numbers with my team as well.
PF: Tim Duncan- Arguably a top 5 PF of all time. At 36 years old, Timmy is still highly productive at both ends of the floor and is one of if not THE best leader in the game. He put up 15/10/2.3/1.5 last season in only 28 mpg. His contract has 3 years left on it and we expect him to play at a high level for those 3 years. We will monitor his minutes and try to keep him as fresh as possible. I drafted alot of big man depth behind him for this reason. He'll sit back to back games and will play limited minutes or no minutes against the lower teams in the league. Important regular season games and playoff games he will play about 34 mpg.
Sf: Tayshaun Prince- One of the best defenders in the league at his position. Only 32 years old and is the type of player that can help ANY playoff team and make them instantly better. Possibly one of the best role players in the league. Prince is also a good slasher/finisher as well as a good passer. He can also hit the corner 3 at a great % and will help spread the floor for my 2 big men.
SG: Arron Afflalo- Great defender and shooter. Has improved his game every year so far in the NBA and we expect him to continue this trend. He put up 15/4/2.5 last season on 47% and 40%. A very efficient scorer and we think he has the ability to be an 18ppg type of player in this league. One of the best man defenders in the league, him and Prince should be a great combo in terms of guarding the elite perimiter players in this league.
PG: Mo Williams- Very underated player and was a steal where i got him. His PG numbers werent the greatest last season due to him playing off the ball the majority of the time, but he is a career 5 apg player and is a good passer. This team didnt need a pure point, but it needed a point that could spread the floor, hit 3s at a high level, dump the ball down low and score when needed. Mo Williams is a career 40% 3pt shooter and makes about 2 3s a game. I have 2 of the best shooters in the game at their respective positions right next to each other along with Prince who is a career 37% 3pt shooter as well.
Bench Rotation
C: ZaZa Pachulia- Pachulia is a great man/help defender. One of the toughest players in the game at his position. Is a "goon" type player who is thick/strong and can get you anywhere from 5/5 or 8/8 at his respective position off the bench. Isnt a great scorer, but he is a tough big off the bench and is the type of player i wanted on this team come playoff time.
PF/SF: Al Harrington- This team needed an Iso scorer and Al is one of the best at his position. At 6'9 he is able to handle the ball and take his man off the dribble and score. He is also one of the best shooting PF'sin the league. If you go back to the last 6 years, he has been a 38% 3pt shooter and he takes and makes a lot of them. He is also a solid defender and is on a good contract and a good rebounder off the bench. Hated by most knick fans, but you have to respect the man's talent.
SF/SG: Chris Singleton- Needed some youth and athleticism on this team moving forward. Singleton is a tremendous athlete and has a huge wingspan while being 6'8 or 6'9. Not only that, but he is a very good defender and rebounder and shot the 3 poi/nt ball at 35% last season which is very respectable. Not a big time scorer, and probably will never be...but he was also a rookie. All singleton is expected to do for 13-15 mpg is to play hard, play defense, fight for boards, and spread the floor and be average from 3. These type of players help win championships. Chris still has a lot of potential, he is a very good athlete and seems to have a high motor. He may not ever be a great player, but i think he can be a 10-13ppg 5-6 rpg 2 apg 1/1 44% 36%type of player down the road. In 3 years from now if i can get that stat line from Chris that would be a great move for this team.
PG :Isaiah Thomas- Thomas despite his size, is a very good and efficient player on both ends of the floor. Isiah is 5'9 but has a 6'1 wingspan. He is extremely quick and athletic and is a pretty good defender. Can shoot the rock and is a very good play maker as well. If Nate Robinson played defense, had a longer wingspan, and was a much better playmaker then he would be what Isiah Thomas is going to be. In 37 games as a starter, Thomas put up 15/5.4 /3/1spg on 48% and 41% shooting from 3 at almost 2 a game. And thats as a rookie, i think Thomas can be a 18/8/3 1.4 spg player on about 44 and 39%. He is also a very good ft shooter and is good at drawing fouls.
Bench Players:
C/PF: Nikola Vecevic- Nikola is another player i really like. He put up great numbers in limited minutes for Philly. He put up 5.5 and 5 and about a block a game in only 17 mpg. And as a rookie those are pretty decent stats, especially for a center. Nikola isnt the greatest of athletes, but he is a smart player and has pretty good footwork. Hes also a good shooter and has the capability to play inside and out which i really like. Nikola could have easily been my go to PF/C off the bench, but i wanted a more experienced player down there and a Player to learn the position a bit slower. (Kinda how Splitter is in SA) Tim Duncan should be a great mentor to Nikola and he should learn alot from Tim by watching him play and playing against him in practice/TC. Also there will be games against easier teams and in back to back's where Tim will sit to keep him well rested, and Nikola will play respectable minutes during those games. In a year or two Zaza could be demoted or traded away for Nikola to come in if he is ready. I think in 2-3 years and especially down the line that Nikola could be a 14/8/2.4 and 1.4 bpg type of player. Maybe once his prime he could develop into an even better player. Im really high on Nikola and i think he is going to play pretty well for Orlando this year.
PG: Earl Watson- An Absolute steal where i got him. He is a very solid PG and is probably one of the best backup PG's in the league. Good passer, good defender, high IQ. He wont get any consistant minutes really, but if either Isaiah or Mo get injured, he is going to be a great player who can step in and contribute. I needed more of a pure PG from this spot, and the fact that Earl was still available was a no brainer. Not much of a scorer or shooter, but he can set up his teamates well, and with the amount of shooters and size on this team, he should fit in very well.
SF/SG: Jordan Hamilton- I think he is going to have a big year for Denver. I have him on both of my summer BAt teams and i think he has the skill set to be a starter on an NBA team down the road. Good shooter, good rebounder, solid defender, good finisher, strong. I was a fan of his in College and he was very good in the Summer League this year. Denver Coaches are expecting him to be a key rotation player this season with Rudy playing over sea's. He could end up being a key rotation player down the line for me as well, or at least a nice trade chip.
SF/SG: Austin Daye- Has a ton of potential, but needs to get much stronger and add size. Ridiculously long for his height (i think 6'10 or 6'11) and is very agile and a decent/good athlete. He was a low risk high reward type of pick. Has a guards skill set while being 6'10+
C/PF:Samardo Samuels- More of a Center but is a bit undersized. Solid player, good rebounder, very thick and strong. Not a bad 14th man off the bench. Was another steal that iw as able to grab him in Free Agency.
PG: Baron Davis - Probably will not play at all this year, but has said that he is working very hard in rehab and wants to return to the NBA. I dont mind wasting a roster spot on him because he didnt show what he was capable last seasons due to not being 100%. If he could end up coming back 100% he could be a nice option to have in a year or 2. (yes i know he is getting old, but PG's with his passing ability and smarts last longer and he can play if he doesnt rush back) And if he doesnt, i still think it was a great pickup because I think he would be a tremendous mentor to Isaiah Thomas. Somone made a comment that Mentors shouldnt matter and you could draft any vet to be a players mentor. I find this to be very untrue. In order to have a good mentor they need to be smart, hard workers, had to have had successful long careers and must be able to relate to certain players. For example, Earl Watson wouldnt be a great mentor to Isaiah comapred to Baron. Isaiah also probably looked up to Baron or was a fan of his growing up as well.
Rotation Minutes
Bynum 34/Duncan 8/Pachulia 6
Duncan 20/Pachulia 13/Harrington 15
Prince 32 / Harrington 9/ Singleton 7
Afflalo 34/Williams 8 /Singleton 6
Williams 20/Thomas 28
This team is built to win the big games. I have the most size and probably the best defense in the entire BAT. I also have one of the best rebounding teams as well. With the amount of size I have up front, its going to force opposing teams to double team and sometimes triple team down low, leaving my 3 point shooters all wide open. My starting 5 are all good passers as well. Notice how i have an elite defender from 5-2 in my starting rotation along with Williams who is average size and defender. (No just because he is a great shooter doesnt automatically make him a bad defender) Then i have a good mix of scoring and defense off the bench along with versitle players who can play mutliple positions. I have youth and athleticsm off the bench as well and quite a few potential players who could be good down the road at just about every position.
Defense wins championships, and there is not a single team in this BAT that would have an easy time putting up 95+ points on me. I Also have the two best post scorers and two of the best post defenders in the league surrounded by deadly 3pt shooting and defense. I dont think some people quite comprehend how deadly of a combination that is. There is not a single team in this BAT who i think i may not be able to compete with in the Finals. Even the heavily favored Pau Gasol and Roy hibbert/steve nash combo. Last i checked...Bynum>Hibbert and Duncan>Gasol. Dont tell me that **** is arguable. Gasol has no where near the mental toughness and clutch ability that Duncan has. And dont show me stats...cuz Gasol played 10 more mpg that duncan did and Gasol, cant hold Duncan's jockstrap in the NBA playoffs. At any time i can throw out a team thats 7'0, 6'11, 6'9, 6'8, 6'2. And my bench is long too.
I dont have time to do my saleries atm. I have a busy day ahead of me.
