BAT 8.0 OFFICIAL TEAM ROSTER/TRADE BLOCK THREAD

Post#1 » by Knicksfan20 » Fri Aug 24, 2012 10:27 pm

Image

Head Coach: Rick Adelman- In rick's 23 year coaching career, Adelman has only missed the playoff's 5 times. He has never won the big game, but he has a ton of playoff experience. He has also never had a team that was constructed like the one he has for the Hornets. Adelman was Rubio for the rest of the season. He should be able to take that Timberwolf team to the plalso an NBA player which i think it is important when your coaching players in the NBA. Its something young and veteran players can relate too. Adelman had a young team overachieving with teh TImberwolves last season, untill the injury bug hit and then lostayoffs this season and this Hornet team to the Finals.

Rotation

C: Andrew Bynum- Bynum when healthy is the 2nd best center in the league. He is probably the best post scorer at his position and is a great rebounder/defender/shot blocker as well. His whole career he has played with Kobe/Pau and other -big name players and never really had the chance to be "the man". I think in real life Bynum will be a 22/12/2/1 type of player with Philly and should be able to put up similar numbers with my team as well.

PF: Tim Duncan- Arguably a top 5 PF of all time. At 36 years old, Timmy is still highly productive at both ends of the floor and is one of if not THE best leader in the game. He put up 15/10/2.3/1.5 last season in only 28 mpg. His contract has 3 years left on it and we expect him to play at a high level for those 3 years. We will monitor his minutes and try to keep him as fresh as possible. I drafted alot of big man depth behind him for this reason. He'll sit back to back games and will play limited minutes or no minutes against the lower teams in the league. Important regular season games and playoff games he will play about 34 mpg.

Sf: Tayshaun Prince- One of the best defenders in the league at his position. Only 32 years old and is the type of player that can help ANY playoff team and make them instantly better. Possibly one of the best role players in the league. Prince is also a good slasher/finisher as well as a good passer. He can also hit the corner 3 at a great % and will help spread the floor for my 2 big men.

SG: Arron Afflalo- Great defender and shooter. Has improved his game every year so far in the NBA and we expect him to continue this trend. He put up 15/4/2.5 last season on 47% and 40%. A very efficient scorer and we think he has the ability to be an 18ppg type of player in this league. One of the best man defenders in the league, him and Prince should be a great combo in terms of guarding the elite perimiter players in this league.

PG: Mo Williams- Very underated player and was a steal where i got him. His PG numbers werent the greatest last season due to him playing off the ball the majority of the time, but he is a career 5 apg player and is a good passer. This team didnt need a pure point, but it needed a point that could spread the floor, hit 3s at a high level, dump the ball down low and score when needed. Mo Williams is a career 40% 3pt shooter and makes about 2 3s a game. I have 2 of the best shooters in the game at their respective positions right next to each other along with Prince who is a career 37% 3pt shooter as well.

Bench Rotation

C: ZaZa Pachulia- Pachulia is a great man/help defender. One of the toughest players in the game at his position. Is a "goon" type player who is thick/strong and can get you anywhere from 5/5 or 8/8 at his respective position off the bench. Isnt a great scorer, but he is a tough big off the bench and is the type of player i wanted on this team come playoff time.

PF/SF: Al Harrington- This team needed an Iso scorer and Al is one of the best at his position. At 6'9 he is able to handle the ball and take his man off the dribble and score. He is also one of the best shooting PF'sin the league. If you go back to the last 6 years, he has been a 38% 3pt shooter and he takes and makes a lot of them. He is also a solid defender and is on a good contract and a good rebounder off the bench. Hated by most knick fans, but you have to respect the man's talent.

SF/SG: Chris Singleton- Needed some youth and athleticism on this team moving forward. Singleton is a tremendous athlete and has a huge wingspan while being 6'8 or 6'9. Not only that, but he is a very good defender and rebounder and shot the 3 poi/nt ball at 35% last season which is very respectable. Not a big time scorer, and probably will never be...but he was also a rookie. All singleton is expected to do for 13-15 mpg is to play hard, play defense, fight for boards, and spread the floor and be average from 3. These type of players help win championships. Chris still has a lot of potential, he is a very good athlete and seems to have a high motor. He may not ever be a great player, but i think he can be a 10-13ppg 5-6 rpg 2 apg 1/1 44% 36%type of player down the road. In 3 years from now if i can get that stat line from Chris that would be a great move for this team.

PG :Isaiah Thomas- Thomas despite his size, is a very good and efficient player on both ends of the floor. Isiah is 5'9 but has a 6'1 wingspan. He is extremely quick and athletic and is a pretty good defender. Can shoot the rock and is a very good play maker as well. If Nate Robinson played defense, had a longer wingspan, and was a much better playmaker then he would be what Isiah Thomas is going to be. In 37 games as a starter, Thomas put up 15/5.4 /3/1spg on 48% and 41% shooting from 3 at almost 2 a game. And thats as a rookie, i think Thomas can be a 18/8/3 1.4 spg player on about 44 and 39%. He is also a very good ft shooter and is good at drawing fouls.

Bench Players:
C/PF: Nikola Vecevic- Nikola is another player i really like. He put up great numbers in limited minutes for Philly. He put up 5.5 and 5 and about a block a game in only 17 mpg. And as a rookie those are pretty decent stats, especially for a center. Nikola isnt the greatest of athletes, but he is a smart player and has pretty good footwork. Hes also a good shooter and has the capability to play inside and out which i really like. Nikola could have easily been my go to PF/C off the bench, but i wanted a more experienced player down there and a Player to learn the position a bit slower. (Kinda how Splitter is in SA) Tim Duncan should be a great mentor to Nikola and he should learn alot from Tim by watching him play and playing against him in practice/TC. Also there will be games against easier teams and in back to back's where Tim will sit to keep him well rested, and Nikola will play respectable minutes during those games. In a year or two Zaza could be demoted or traded away for Nikola to come in if he is ready. I think in 2-3 years and especially down the line that Nikola could be a 14/8/2.4 and 1.4 bpg type of player. Maybe once his prime he could develop into an even better player. Im really high on Nikola and i think he is going to play pretty well for Orlando this year.

PG: Earl Watson- An Absolute steal where i got him. He is a very solid PG and is probably one of the best backup PG's in the league. Good passer, good defender, high IQ. He wont get any consistant minutes really, but if either Isaiah or Mo get injured, he is going to be a great player who can step in and contribute. I needed more of a pure PG from this spot, and the fact that Earl was still available was a no brainer. Not much of a scorer or shooter, but he can set up his teamates well, and with the amount of shooters and size on this team, he should fit in very well.

SF/SG: Jordan Hamilton- I think he is going to have a big year for Denver. I have him on both of my summer BAt teams and i think he has the skill set to be a starter on an NBA team down the road. Good shooter, good rebounder, solid defender, good finisher, strong. I was a fan of his in College and he was very good in the Summer League this year. Denver Coaches are expecting him to be a key rotation player this season with Rudy playing over sea's. He could end up being a key rotation player down the line for me as well, or at least a nice trade chip.

SF/SG: Austin Daye- Has a ton of potential, but needs to get much stronger and add size. Ridiculously long for his height (i think 6'10 or 6'11) and is very agile and a decent/good athlete. He was a low risk high reward type of pick. Has a guards skill set while being 6'10+

C/PF:Samardo Samuels- More of a Center but is a bit undersized. Solid player, good rebounder, very thick and strong. Not a bad 14th man off the bench. Was another steal that iw as able to grab him in Free Agency.

PG: Baron Davis - Probably will not play at all this year, but has said that he is working very hard in rehab and wants to return to the NBA. I dont mind wasting a roster spot on him because he didnt show what he was capable last seasons due to not being 100%. If he could end up coming back 100% he could be a nice option to have in a year or 2. (yes i know he is getting old, but PG's with his passing ability and smarts last longer and he can play if he doesnt rush back) And if he doesnt, i still think it was a great pickup because I think he would be a tremendous mentor to Isaiah Thomas. Somone made a comment that Mentors shouldnt matter and you could draft any vet to be a players mentor. I find this to be very untrue. In order to have a good mentor they need to be smart, hard workers, had to have had successful long careers and must be able to relate to certain players. For example, Earl Watson wouldnt be a great mentor to Isaiah comapred to Baron. Isaiah also probably looked up to Baron or was a fan of his growing up as well.

Rotation Minutes

Bynum 34/Duncan 8/Pachulia 6
Duncan 20/Pachulia 13/Harrington 15
Prince 32 / Harrington 9/ Singleton 7
Afflalo 34/Williams 8 /Singleton 6
Williams 20/Thomas 28

This team is built to win the big games. I have the most size and probably the best defense in the entire BAT. I also have one of the best rebounding teams as well. With the amount of size I have up front, its going to force opposing teams to double team and sometimes triple team down low, leaving my 3 point shooters all wide open. My starting 5 are all good passers as well. Notice how i have an elite defender from 5-2 in my starting rotation along with Williams who is average size and defender. (No just because he is a great shooter doesnt automatically make him a bad defender) Then i have a good mix of scoring and defense off the bench along with versitle players who can play mutliple positions. I have youth and athleticsm off the bench as well and quite a few potential players who could be good down the road at just about every position.

Defense wins championships, and there is not a single team in this BAT that would have an easy time putting up 95+ points on me. I Also have the two best post scorers and two of the best post defenders in the league surrounded by deadly 3pt shooting and defense. I dont think some people quite comprehend how deadly of a combination that is. There is not a single team in this BAT who i think i may not be able to compete with in the Finals. Even the heavily favored Pau Gasol and Roy hibbert/steve nash combo. Last i checked...Bynum>Hibbert and Duncan>Gasol. Dont tell me that **** is arguable. Gasol has no where near the mental toughness and clutch ability that Duncan has. And dont show me stats...cuz Gasol played 10 more mpg that duncan did and Gasol, cant hold Duncan's jockstrap in the NBA playoffs. At any time i can throw out a team thats 7'0, 6'11, 6'9, 6'8, 6'2. And my bench is long too.

I dont have time to do my saleries atm. I have a busy day ahead of me.

The Goal:
To win a NBA championship. Unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to get a top 10 pick, so the only way I could realistically get to my goal from pick #19th overall was to acquire the most talent and build for the future. In addition, I want to set my team up in position to get 2 superstars to add on to Anthony Davis. I feel like I have the value for trades and future cap space to make this plan a reality in just two years.

Head Coach: Frank Vogel
Image
Frank Vogel, being only 39 years old can be my coach for the next 20-30 years. 2011-2012 3rd in Coach Of The Year voting. In 2010-2011 (first year of head coaching) took over a 17-27 Pacers team and went 20-18 the rest of the regular season coming very close in every game in the playoffs vs MVP Derek Rose and the Chicago Bulls. This year in a lockout year having to still install his offense on the fly went 42-24, finishing 7th in Adjusted Offensive Rating and 12th in Adjusted Defensive Rating (both based on pace). Beat the Orlando Magic in the playoffs 4-1, played NBA champions Heat tough, won 2 games. Defensive first coach and runs pick and roll offense. Developed plenty of young talent in Indiana. Overall fantastic coach for winning now and winning future.

Roster:

The STARTERS:
ImageImageImageImageImage
Jose Calderon - Bradley Beal - Chandler Parsons - Anthony Davis - Omer Asik

~Jose Calderon is our leader of this group offensively. He is a master at getting all of his teamates involved (8.8 APG), running the pick and roll, not turning the ball over (4.50 A-TO Ratio, highest in the NBA) and shooting the ball exceptionally and efficiently. He will be given control of this offense mostly. We feel with the outside shooters we have around him and the athletic big men to play pick and roll with his job will be even easier to find and dish. He can also be on the receiving end of some assists due to his exceptional three point shooting (38.1% career). His defensive woes are minimized with our great individual and team defenders and shotblockers at every other position.Calderon's experience in the NBA, overseas and with the Spanish National Team in the Olympics serves this team very well.

~Bradley Beal is our shooter. We feel that he can be lethal coming off screens. He has secondary ballhandler skills and good size (6'5") for his SG position. He is a strong and willing defender and a very good rebounder for his size and position. He has a very high basketball IQ, is a low maintenance kid and a leader. He was the leader on Florida, through an impressive tourney run. With Calderon setting him up, scoring will be even easier. He will also be given the ball in his hands to create for himself and create for others. We feel that he clearly has the ability to break down a defense and be a threat to score. He can be our star scorer in the future, and will be a strong part of our team now.

~Chandler Parsons main role on this team is shutting down the best wing scorer on the other team. His length and size (6'10") combined with his quickness, give fits to the best NBA players. He is already one of the top defensive wing players. Offensively he is also versatile. He has a good handle and understanding of what to do. He can also knock down the three (33.7%) and is very much so improving at that part of the game (30.4% before the all star break, 36.4% after the all star break). That number should only go up with Calderon setting him up. We will also put the ball in his hands at times to create in the pick and roll. Mostly though his job will be to hit the open shot, play defense and continue to crash the boards. Overall, Chandler is a complete player and an important part of this team.

~Anthony Davis is a STAR. He's not a potential star, he is a star. Making the 2012 USA Men's Basketball Olympic team is no easy task, making it with no NBA experience or professional experience and playing well in it is amazing. 6'10" height, 7'5.5" wingspan gives him a distinct advantage over many centers, let alone PFs in the league. He already poses elite rebounding, shotblocking, help defense, man defense and is a great finisher in the pick and roll (with Calderon being great at it also). He will be one of the primary scoring options, as the primary pick and roll player with Calderon, Beal and Parsons. He also has very high potential to be a complete offensive player with a good handle and shot. Anthony Davis is a franchise player and he is our franchise player.

~Omer Asik is our enforcer. His main role is not letting anyone score and grabbing all the rebounds which are two things he can do (13 rebounds, 2.5 blocked shots per 36 minutes). He has exceptional size(7'0", 255lbs),positional defense and help defense. Coupled with Anthony Davis and Chandler Parsons, not only will there be a "No Layup Rule", but the front court will be impossible to score on. Offensively, Omer can get us putbacks, offensive rebounders and finish inside. He can also play pick and roll. In addition, Omers experience in the NBA, overseas and with the Turkish National Team also gives us another mentor to our bigs to go along with head coach Frank Vogel who is an excellent coach and his staff.

Drive 5:
ImageImageImageImageImage
Damian Lillard-Chase Budinger-Richard Jefferson-Tristan Thompson-Jonas Valanciunas

~Damian Lillard is prolific scoring guard who can also pass the ball very efficiently. Standing at 6'3", with a 6'8 wingspan, Lillard can play both point guard and SG. Lillard has elite athleticism and quickness which gives him the ability to not only break down the defense but finish over shotblockers. Couple that with his ability to shoot the mid range, three point and the pull-up jumpshot, he makes any defense cringe. On top of this he is a willing and able passer off penetration and in the pick and roll. He has one of the best and most efficient guards to learn the trick of the trade from in Jose Calderon and doesn't have to pick up the point guard role immediately. He will be given the 6th man role and let do what he naturally does, score the basketball. Defensively he is a capable defender with speed and quickness to go along with his size. Lillard will be bread to eventually be our starting point guard in the near future.

~Chase Budinger is an elite athlete with very good shooting ability. Chase's role will primarily be as an offensive sparkplug both at SG and SF. Chase is quick enough to play SG and strong enough to play SF. Chase is a very impressive athlete, coming second in the NBA dunk contest just last year. He also has a very solid handle and can find guys open for assists. His biggest weapon for us might just be his jumpshot, especially from three point range (40.2%). Defensively we feel Chase is solid. Chase can open up the court for our point guards penetrating. Chase can also learn a lot from Richard Jefferson on cutting to the basket. We feel Chase is another key cog to our team.

~Richard Jefferson is our vet presence who can teach our forwards and wing players the nuances of the game. Although we feel that Richard is a consumate professional and a good teacher, that doesn't mean that he can't play. Richard still is a great slasher, good defender, good rebounder and now a great three point shooter. Last year Richard shot the three at a very impressive 42%. He fits our current system which is pick and roll with our big men, combined with shooters on the outside to give them space. Defensively he also fits our tough defensive mindset.

~Tristan Thompson is our athletic defensive and rebounding PF/C. His primary focus on offense will be finishing inside, offensive rebounding, play tough defense and good help defense. These are things he can already do. He was 12th in the NBA in offensive rebounding as a rookie, while having the considerably least minutes of the top 11. Also he averages 1 block per game in the 23.7 minutes he played per game. Tristan has extremely high potential to be a great all around player. He has an improving post game and has the right length (7'1" wingspan) and size (6'9", 230lbs) to be a dominant PF in this league.

~Jonas Valanciunas is a very high potential big man who is ready now. Having played overseas and the Olympics we feel that Jonas is ready to get minutes. He has solid length and size (6'11", 240lbs). He is a very good pick and roll player and has a good, yet still improving, mid range shot. He is also a very good rebounder. Defensively he is good man to man and very good help defense. We will bring him in kind of slowly to learn the NBA game. We feel strongly about teaching our big men before putting them on the court, so just by playing him shows the kind of respect we have for his game. Jonas has potential to be an all around big man. He can learn behind Asik who has also made the transition to the NBA from Europe and who is a very solid center. Jonas will be the eventual replacement for Asik.

The Ease Duo:
ImageImage
Alexey Shved - Joel Freeland

~Alexey Shved is part of the Ease Duo. The Ease Duo are the guys who ease the pain of injuries and foul trouble for us. Alexey gives us someone who can play both point guard and shooting guard. He has exceptional shooting, handling and passing skills, while being a very good athlete. We feel that he can play in this league immediately, having played and excelled overseas and for the Lithuanian National Team in the Olympics.

~Joel Freeland is a ready now PF/C. He has good athleticism and an understanding how to play the game. He is an exceptional rebounder and shooter from as far as three point range. He is a smart defender and won't give you anything easy, although he may not be a great defender. He gives us a different look from our big men and will open up space for us for our team.

The Budding Stars:
ImageImageImage
Doron Lamb - Arnett Moultrie* - Meyers Leonard*
* = Will spend time in D-League

~Doron Lamb is a very good shooting guard prospect coming out of Kentucky. He has a killer shot and can shoot it from anywhere on the court. He has a good handle and can play defense. We feel he would be best served being developed slowly and he will be. He will be on the inactive list due to Shved being more experienced and more versatile. Doron is a good prospect and a future piece for us.

~Arnett Moultrie is a very high potential, big (6'11" height, 235 lbs, 7'2" wingspan) PF/C from Mississippi State. For a guy who is regarded as raw, he has very high natural skills. He was the main reason his underachieving team was any good. He can rebound and score inside and from long range, but right now doesn't have the defensive awareness we need from him. For most bigmen, we like to bring in very slowly to teach them the ropes. We are going to do that with Arnett, by sending him to the D-League to develop his skill even further. We still feel that Arnett is a good future piece to the puzzle and has considerable value around the league.

~Meyers Leonard is a big (7'1" height, 250lbs, 7'3" wingspan) true center. He has a ton of skill both offensively, defensively and rebounding. Offensively Meyers has a lot of potential. Already possessing a solid mid range jumper and having flashed post moves, he only needs time to be effective. His rebounding is already solid and will only get better. He is a good help defender but not yet a great one on one defender. We feel by getting him playing time is the most important thing. Since we do not have that playing time here we will be sending him to the D-League to develop further. He will eventually be either the backup to Jonas Valanciunas or starting over him when Asik is a free agent.

Rotation:
PG - Jose Calderon (30) - Damian Lilliard (18)
SG - Bradley Beal (30) - Damian Lilliard (10) - Chase Budinger (8)
SF - Chandler Parsons (30) - Richard Jefferson (6) - Chase Budinger (12)
PF - Anthony Davis (33) - Tristan Thompson (15)
C - Omer Asik (30) - Jonas Valanciunas (10) - Tristan Thompson (8)

Conclusion:
I feel like I have hit my goals completely. I have given myself capspace to make max offers the next two years and have the talent to make superstar trades. If everyone makes the impact I expect of them, I feel we can reach the playoffs behind great coach Frank Vogel. We have a superstar, we have a great coach, we have cap space, we have a great location with passionate fans, we have great young players, we have long range shooting and we have defense. My goal to make this team athletic, young, big, defensive and capable of hitting shots is complete.

BAT 8.0 : Wolves
Mike Budenholzer
PG: Mario Chalmers (28) |Jason Kidd (12) | John Lucas III (0)
SG: James Harden (31) | Jodie Meeks (9) | Marquis Daniels (0)
SF: Paul Pierce (34) | Kyle Korver (6) | Khris Middleton (0)
PF: Kenneth Faried (25) | Lavoy Allen (15)| Kyle O'Quinn (0)
C: Kevin Garnett (30) | Samuel Dalembert (10) | Hamed Haddadi (0)

Always looking to improve my team. If you have an idea that will accomplish that email me.

69.7 Million for 10 starters and back-ups.... Details later...

IMO, its pointless to give a detailed pimping... Most of my players are known for what they bring to the table. Maybe- Lavoy Allen is an unknown if you didn't see his defense against Garnett in the play-offs...

With that said... What team in this BAT has a better starting 10 (forget about starting 5) defensively? what team has a combination of offense, championship experience, two 22 year old "stars"; who have proven themselves in the play-offs, as many high percentage 3pts shooters (who as mentioned before; can defend every single one of them...), and TWO closers with Harden as the potential third??? What team? the answer in none.
If the above mentioned is not enough to consider my team one of the best in this BAT I don't know what is...

And if Kidd, Camby, Grant Hill, Steve Nash, etc can play in this league at 38,39, etc... Then Garnett and Pierce at 36 and 34 will continue "to do what they do". We have enough depth to allow those guys to play 30 minutes a game if we choose to...Lavoy Allen proved that he could guard the best big man in last years play-offs (Garnett...look it up ) last year.

CHICAGO BULLS

STARTERS
(L-R): Shawn Marion, David Lee, Deron Williams, Elton Brand, Tyreke Evans
Image

DERON WILLIAMS

A 3x All-Star,2x All-NBA 2nd Team and one of the top 5-7 players in the NBA, Deron Williams is the unquestioned star of this team. One of the best pure point guards in the game, He's averaged at least 18.7 points and 10.3 assists in each of the last four seasons while shooting 45% from the field and 36% from 3 point range).

A tough, physical PG, Williams has done even better in the playoffs averaging 21.1ppg, 9.6apg, 3.7rpg along with shooting 46% FG overall and 40% from 3 (in 44 playoff games).

A true performer when it counts most and someone who has no problem stepping up when his team needs him. Again...let me repeat...he does BETTER in the playoffs than he does even during the regular season!!!! Not many players, even the superstars, can make that claim!!!

STRENGTHS - Passing (one of the best), Scoring, Shooting, All-Around Play, Toughness, Big Game Ability, Feel for Game, High IQ, Versatility, Rebounding, Leadership.

-----

DAVID LEE

After being a primary bench player for his first few seasons in the NBA, David Lee has averaged 18.4ppg, 10.8rpg, 53% FG and nearly 3apg the past 4 seasons, all as a starter. One of the premier rebounders and among the most accurate shooters in the NBA for his career, David Lee has shown that he can produce at a top level over his 7 year NBA career.

Besides the rebounding, Lee is also a terrific mid range shooter who can also finish around the basket with either hands. His shooting percentage remains among the better ones in the NBA even though he's had to assume the no.1 offensive option duties recently for the Warriors. Along with the rebounding and scoring, he has also become one of the best passing big man at nearly 3 assists per game as a starter.

A primary PF, Lee is also versatile enough to switch to C and is adept in both the Pick and Roll as well as in an uptempo offense where his athleticism and ambidexterity allows him to score quickly off the pass from his guards in transition.

STRENGTHS - Rebounding, Mid-Range Shooting, Scoring, Passing, Versatility, High IQ, Athleticism.

-----

TYREKE EVANS

One of the most physically gifted guards in the NBA, the 6'6" Evans is a handful for any opposing player to defend. Able to handle the ball like a PG and possessing the size that most SG's would envy, Evans has shown great natural skill with the ball in his hands. Averaging 20.1ppg/5.3rpg/5.8apg while shooting a terrific 46% from the field in his rookie season , Evans walked away with the ROY honors.

While his offensive numbers of dipped he's still among the best rebounding guards in the NBA (career 4.9rpg) and still can dish the ball despite being his teams number one option (career 5.3apg). At just 23 years of age, Evans still has his prime to look forward to and on a veteran team with MUCH MORE talent he will not need to feel that he has to do it all on his own.

Here's a reminder to those that haven't really seen him play is just judging based on reputation...not not just the scoring...but the dribbling, the passing, the shotblocking, the rebounding...

FYI...despite the reputation as a average defender, realize that Evans has consistently been in the top 20 in steals per game in each of his 3 NBA seasons...an indication of his defensive aptitude.

STRENGTHS - Scoring, Rebounding, Passing, Finishing Ability, Strength, Size, Athleticism, Physicality, Steals, Versatility.

-----

ELTON BRAND

While Brand is not the potent offensive player that he was in his prime, he has remained among the most physically capable AND best post defenders. Here's a blurb about Brands defense...

Synergy Sports Technology, a video tracking service provided to NBA teams, tracks every possession of every game played in the NBA and slices each game into play types. One of the plays Synergy tracks is the post-up; it analyzes how many points a player allows in those situations. So where does Brand rank in points allowed on post-up plays? First. Nobody is better this season. Not Howard. Not Andrew Bynum. Not Kevin Garnett.

...In fact there was strong opinion from around the league that Brand should have been nominated for one of the All-Defensive teams. Brand may not possess the same quickness he had when he was one of the most dominant all around power forwards in the game in his prime, but he's more than strong enough and smart enough to defend the post as you can see. His 1.6bpg despite averaging only 28mpg last season is an added indication that he is still quite able to handle himself defensively. And still among the most physical players who is not afraid to mix it up with anyone in the league.

Offensively, Brand still retains his terrific midrange shot and is still able to score in the paint.

SO please STOP with the cliched nonsense that because Brand had a big contract and he's not the same 20/12 player that he's done silliness. At this stage of his career he's actually better suited for C since he will not need to expend energy chasing quicker PF's around.

STRENGTHS - Defense, Rebounding, Shotblocking, Strength, Physicality, Post Offense, Midrange Shooting, High IQ, Toughness, Leadership, Veteran Savvy.

-----

SHAWN MARION

One of the most versatile defenders in the NBA, Marion came in 8th overall in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2012. Able to play nearly every position in the NBA, Marion, along with Tyson Chandler, were the backbones of the Dallas Mavericks defense during their championship run in 2011 and remains among the toughest covers in the game.

Having covered everyone from Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul to Kevin Durant and James Harden to Lebron James and Chris Bosh, Marion is one of the guys that Lebron James has said is the hardest player to play against. His tenacity, physical toughness, experience and athleticism combine into a terrific defensive package.

But beyond the defense, Marion has remained a terrific rebounder and shotblocker...as well as a guy that has never had a problem finishing at the basket (which he'll get plenty of opportunities with the terrific and able passers he'll be playing with).

STRENGTHS - Defense, Rebounding, Shotblocking, Toughness, Physicality, Leadership, High IQ, Versatility, Veteran Savvy, Finishing, Athleticism.

RESERVES
(L-R): Terrence Williams, Marvin Williams, Chris Andersen, Delonte West, Donatas Motiejunas
Image

DELONTE WEST

Delonte West has been many things off the court but one thing that he has shown that he is while on the court is one heck of an all around player. Able to play both guard spots very well (he was a staring PG for the Celtics early in his career), West is a tough as nails player who can elevate his game on both ends of the floor.

A terrific backcourt defender West relies on his great combination of physical strength, intensity, athleticism and experience to hound both PG's and SG's from end to end. Fearless would be a word to describe West's play defensively and he's been key in attempts to slow down some of the NBA's best guards throughout his stops.

Offensively West is a skilled ball handler who can drive to the basket or shoot from 3 (he's a career 37% shooter with a high of 40% in 2009) and isn't afraid of drawing contact and going to the line (where he's an 83% shooter) or driving and dishing to an open teammate.

He'll be the first player off the bench and his ability to play both guard positions and handle himself both offensively and defensively should put him in 6th man of the year discussions.

STRENGTHS - Defense, Versatilty, Shooting, 3 Point Shooting, Driving, Passing, Toughness, Physicality, Intensity, Athleticism.

MARVIN WILLIAMS

-----

DONATAS MOTIEJUNAS

There's never been any doubt that Donatas Motiejunas possessed a lot of talent. The knock was that he was too weak and too disinterested and didn't focus on his game. That was why he fell to 20 in the 2011 Draft. This past season, Motiejunas has pretty much blown away all the critics by being one of the best forwards and best players overall in Europe. Leading the Euroleague in rebounds, Motiejunas has shown a new found intensity in his game leading his team to critical winis in the playoffs and adding more than 20 pounds to his previously lean 7 foot frame and, most strikingly, turning from a shy introverted kid to a charismatic young man.

Offensively, the 7 foot Motiejunas can be referred to as a "5 tool player", a mismatch waiting to happen. A terrific 3 point shooter, Motiejunas has also shown that he can post up AND put the ball on the floor and finish. His gross mismatch overseas should continue to carry over in the NBA where he'll be able to stretch defenses and pull opposing bigs away from the basket. And if needed his height and quickness will cause problems against post defenders who will try to contain him.

As mentioned he was among the best rebounders in europe and he has shown terrific intensity on the defensive end as well challenging shots and being aggressive on the ball. His talent and upside is aboslutely huge given his skills, size and athleticism. The following 2 videos highlight his skills and shows his tremendous upside.

STRENGTHS - Size, Athleticism, Shooting, 3 Point Shooting, Driving, Post Game, Rebounding, Passing, Mismatch, Versatility, Intensity, Great Upside.

RESERVES
(L-R): Jared Cunningham, Rashard Lewis, Quincy Miller, Ryan Hollins, Mo Evans
Image

JARED CUNNINGHAM

Jared Cunningham was one of the best backcout defenders in all of college basketball last season. A deadly ball hawk (2.5 spg) Cunningham posses superb athleticism, a terrific NBA build, is extremely light on his feet (as you can see in the video) and is one of the quickest guards end to end in the NCAA with the ball in his hands.

He's also a potent finisher in the open court and scorer and possess the type of body control (even in midair) that the great guards in the NBA possess...able to change directions and hang in the air on his shots like few can (see video). Cunningham is another high upside, high talent, athlete that project to be a huge part of the Bulls organization (along with Quincy Miller and Donatas Motiejunas) for a long, long time to come.

STRENGTHS - Athleticism, Defense, Steals, Quickness, Finishing Ability, Passing, Driving, Scoring, Great Upside, Versatility, Aggressiveness.

-----

QUINCY MILLER

Quincy Miller was one of the most talked about and highly rated HS ballers in the nation in 2011. An athetic 6'10" SF who could handle the ball like a guard, pass, drive, shoot from 3, block shots, etc...he was viewed as a do all player that would be a mismatch at the next level. There were many who considered Miller as the 1A to Anthony Davis' no. 1 ranking and comparisons to Kevin Durant were being made by many scouts and even Anthony Davis himself who played with Miller quite often in the AAU circuit.

Miller suffered a torn ACL late in his senior season and didn't really get to show his full repetoire in his one single season at Baylor. Considering that an ACL usually takes 12-16 months to heal, Miller should be right at the cusp where he's back to full strength and being able to do all the things that he used to do when he was being considered one of the primo HS seniors. Here's a glimpse of Miller's skills (again for a 6'10" player note how he can handle the ball and breakdown defenders, drive to the basket, shoot, block shots, run and finish).

Again...this is a 6'10" 18 year old guy doing this...and also watch through the entire video, there's a 2nd part after the credits at around 0:55 seconds).

THIS is a true high end, high upside prospect that fell simply because his recovery for the ACL injury coincided with his only year in college.

STRENGTHS - Atheticism, All Around Talent, Mismatch, Scoring, Dribbling, Passing, Driving, Shooting, Post Game, Shotblocking, Great Upside, Versatility, Intensity.

I'm not going to go too into depth with the pimping because I feel my team is pretty self-explanatory. Built around Chris Paul and Kevin Love, your typical Utah Jazz pick and roll offense surrounded by shooters and hard nosed players. Dave Joerger is a defensive coach that is very energy and committed to the craft of coaching. I like Gordon Hayward as my do it all player. Courtney Lee as a defending shooting guard who can shoot threes and Tiago Splitter as our best big next to Love. He can play pick and roll as well as anyone as well, and has improved defensively.

Greg Stiemsma is one of the better back up defensive bigs in the league. Nazr Mohammed is a nice vet presence. Darrell Arthur should come back strong this year. He is a solid offensive player. Jan Vesely averaged like 8 and 7 the final month of the year, so he is improving with potential. A high flyer who is pretty wild and could catch some oops from Chris Paul. Mike Dunleavy is my best scorer off the bench. Reggie Williams can also score and hit some threes and Gary Neal is my best back up combo guard who can shoot, defend, and orchestrate for stretches. Ish Smith is fine as a 3rd string PG. Omri Casspi is another solid wing who can spot here and there and Earl Clark is one of my better defensive players off the bench. He doesn't score much but can log some minutes on the opposing team's best wing and bother him a bit.

As far as age goes, Chris Paul is in his prime. Kevin Love, Tiago Splitter, Gordon Hayward and Courtney Lee are entering their prime or still considered young players. Darrell Arthur and Jan Vesely are pretty young. Gary Neal is a young vet. Mike Dunleavy is a vet. Reggie Williams is a young vet. Earl Clark is still developing. Greg Steimsma as well. Nazr Mohammed is a vet. Ish Smith is young and so is Omri Casspi. Overall it's a young team that can win now.

Salary stuff: only Chris Paul and Kevin Love have big contracts. Everyone else a short low salary contract or is on their rookie scale. It's a great cap situation.

I honestly think I built the best overall team in terms of offense, defense, salary, youth and win now. No one has a better combination, IMO.

Brandon Roy 5.1
Will Barton 0.6
Kevin Durant 16.7

Carlos Boozer 15
Hakim Warrick 4
John Henson 1.8
Marcus Camby 4.6
Kevin Seraphin 1.8
Sean Williams 0.9 (2011-2012 salary, signing pending)

Goal: Win now, but enough youth to build around after 3+ years of championship runs.

Bucks have the talent and balance to win-now.

- We have our superstar in Durant who can handle the ball, has lead the league in scoring several years in a row (despite playing next to a ball hog in OKC), and is one of the top 3 best at creating his own shot. Can score many different ways. Durant has never had a low post scoring presence; he now has more weapons to work with him, allowing him to facilitate the offense more. He will help bring Boozer back to his all-star level of play.
- We have low post scoring threats in Boozer and Seraphin. Both of whom are capable of putting up 14+ ppg, especially with strong, passing PG's and ball handlers like Conley, Tinsley, Roy and Durant.
- We have outside shooters to open up the offense down low. Green is a spot up, lights out shooter (39% 3-PT), Durant (39% 3-PT), Carter (36% 3-PT), and Roy (35% 3-PT career).
- We have youth: our best player is 23, our lights out shooter is 26, our PG is 24, and our immovable defensive and offensive force, down low, is 22. We also have strong prospects in Will Barton (spot up shooter), John Henson (multi-fascited, raw talent with complete upside, down low), and Reggie Jackson (6'3, 210+ lbs PG who dominated ACC in college, All-ACC First team).
- We have veterans and experience to both lead and teach. Camby, even at his age, is still grabbing 9+ rpg in only 24 mpg and more than 70 games of PO experience. Boozer, although only 30 and still producing at a high level, has over 65 games of PO experience. Boozer will teach offense, and Camby will teach defense to Seraphin and Henson.
Jamaal Tinsley is a pass first PG who averaged 3+ apg in under 15 mpg and has over 40 games of PO experience. He'll be there to help guide, and provide relief, for Conley at the PG position.
Vince Carter is there, with 60 games of PO experience, and still producing 10+ ppg.
Roy, although played most of his minutes at SG and SF, can play PG and facilitate for the team. He and Green will be molding Barton, who is rated as having one of the highest offensive capabilities in the 2012 draft.
- We have 3 guys will the killer mentality, a facet required for a championship team; all of whom are at different ages: Carter (35), Roy (27), and Durant (23).
- We have size, defense, toughness, and grit at every position: Jackson, Roy, Carter, Pietrus, Camby, Seraphin, and Williams.
- Our second unit/bench is one of the strongest and deepest in the league. Tinsley and Roy can handle the ball and pass the ball to where it needs to go. Roy can also do a lot of damage in limited amount of playing time. Carter can score in bunches, and provides outside shooting, whereas Pietrus provides one of the highlest levels of perimeter defense and great relief for Durant. Warrick, although not a scorer, brings athleticism and hustle off the bench. And Seraphin brings his size, defense, and 14 ppg (as a starter) off the bench. Even our second unit has balance at every position.
- We have all the pieces to win now, as well as be set up for success in the future.
- Best case scenario: win the NBA Finals the next 3 years in a row. Follow that by making playoff runs the following few years, then back to the championship several years after that.
- Worst case scenario: winning only 1 title in 3 years, with losing in the ECF for the other 2 years.
- Notes:
Seraphin, (14, 7, 2 bpg as a starter)
Warrick (professional bench player), career 17 ppg and 7 rpg (Per36) off the bench.
Tinsley, (3 apg in less than 15 mpg)

Wizards

Obviously the first thing that stands out is that my best player is coming off an injury, one in which we are well aware of. I think it's foolish to dismiss this team because Rose will miss half a season, there is a reason as to why I got certain players. In his absence I will put a product on the court that doesn't feature a true point guard, but a plethora of capable ball movers. This is something that we feel will help us overcome the loss of Rose until he gets back, something in which I believe makes my time quite versatile.

During the absence of Rose I will go with a starting five of the following:

Bradley
Richardson
Hedo
Randolph
Diaw

One might be quick to say, oh well they don't have a legit PG so they can't win. I would say not so fast. Coming into the league Bradley was seen as an attacking point guard, he can certainly skate bye manning the point guard position. However also we will have both Hedo and Diaw, two dynamic passing players. I feel that this starting five can certainly overcome the loss of Rose for a bit as it features great shooters and guys who move the ball willingly.

Bradley can lock down the opposing point guard disrupting the opposing teams flow of offense. He can also knock down the open three and attack the rim using his quickness. Jason Richardson is inserted into the starting shooting guard spot to do just that, shoot. Richardson still remains a respectable offensive player in this league, still shooting the three at a good clip. Hedo is inserted into the starting lineup as well to help offset the loss of Rose. During the tumultuous season of the Magic, Hedo still proved to by a dynamic play maker averaging four and a half assists. His shooting to a bit of a dip, but we look at that as a one year aberration. Zach Randolph becomes the leader of the team for the time being, he as well working back from injury proved last year when he came back that he can still play. Resting during the offseason will get him back to form. Diaw gives me someone who can be our jack of all trades, he can rebound, spread the floor and facilitate the offense from anywhere on the court. That's three players that can help overcome the loss of Rose, something that we feel is easily doable before we make our push once Rose comes back.

However once Rose comes back, the starting lineup will change a bit. Rose will be inserted at the point, Bradley will slide back to the two guard, Butler will come in to start at the three and Bismack will start at center. There are quite a few reasons as to why I would do this.

Bradley like mentioned before can create a little and really use his quickness to get his shot off from anywhere. However his biggest feature is his ability to slow down the opposing team's best perimeter player. At small forward Butler gives us that tough and gritty small forward who plays good man to man defense and still has one of the better mid range shots for small forwards. People tend to overlook this because he struggles with his three's. Bismack starts at center because he can play off the ball, excels at help defense. With Rose, Bradley and Butler we don't foresee being beat on the perimeter all that much, therefore he can really help Randolph down low. Bismack was one of the elite shot blockers in the league last year while only playing limited minutes for most of the year.

Our bench becomes quite deep in this scenario. Having Diaw and Ivan as our rotation big men is excellent. Ivan plays tough hard nose basketball, makes you work and doesn't back down. He can score a little, but more importantly there will be no easy basket against him. Diaw comes off the bench and provides everything that I mentioned before. The wildcard for this team is Andray Blatche, who has all the talent in the world. With a no nonsense locker room that I built and a tough coach in Avery Johnson I can only hope that he can get his head on straight. Offensively there aren't many big man that really can replicate his game.

Jenkins, Richardson and Hedo become the other bench players. Jenkins who struggled to run a team last year, did indeed showcase the ability to get his shot off. His mid range game last year was quite the welcome surprised. He also plays some tough man to man defense, however his best quality is how efficiently he plays. Richardson can come in and change the tide of any game with his shooting and once again Hedo is paired up with Boris to create two dynamic ball movers who can stretch the floor. Gilbert Arenas while clearly not the player he used to be can still come in and do a few things. He can score from anywhere, create a little and still fill a stat sheet nicely in a limited role. [Ok we admit having Arenas back on the Wizards is funny.]

Offensively we can attack you from a lot of ways. When Rose is healthy is one of the few true MVP's in the league, something not many teams have. He can create easy buckets for his teammates, something we're hoping that both Bradley and Biyombo can convert. With Randolph's ability to stretch the floor and score down low, we view him as an ideal fit next to Rose. We have shooters who can hit the three, we have shooters who excel from the mid range. We have crafty play makers, we have guys who can score down low. We have guys who can create their own shot if need be. Again we feel that we have just about everything we need to be successful, when you have a player like Rose it makes everything else just a bit easier.

We have guys that play lock down defense, we have guys who will bang until their sixth foul is called. Defensively we can be quite the good team. When we're fully healthy we have four defenders in our starting lineup, one in which is a bit of weak link. However if there is anyone who can help masquerade Randolph in this league it's Bismack. We have excellent perimeter defense, where it all starts. Not being able to get through the perimeter stalls the offense and makes it become quite stagnant. Bismack is a human eraser, with his wing span he can get to any ball to challenge and or block it. Once we got to the bench we still feel that we can keep up the defensive intensity because of Ivan's presence. With Ivan down low and Jenkins on the perimeter, we can still be a solid defensive team. Again with our bench our defense will drop off, but it will be respectable.

Coaching

While it's been awhile since anyone had to praise the coaching efforts of Avery Johnson, people do tend to forget that he was a 730% coach with Dallas. It was because he had a star in Dirk? Oh well... what do you think Rose is going to be able to do? The pairing of Rose and Avery is a match made in heaven. Avery likes to get on his players and demand more from them, Rose has proven he can take that criticism and get better because of it. It's nice having a star who is willing to listen. Avery instills a no nonsense approach, a theme I tried to carry out with the selection of my players. Majority of this squad is no nonsense with a few calculated risk taken to see if we can get some serious talent in line. It's what winning teams and respected coaches are able to do, get guys in order. If we do indeed get Blatche in check, that's another huge piece for Avery to have at his disposal. Avery has never gotten over the hump, but he is as playoff tested as most coaches are these days.

Prospects/Future Players

Rose, only 23 and a MVP winner and candidate year in and year out.
Bradley, All-NBA team defense year in and year out.
Bismack, All-NBA team defense year in and year out.

Between these three players alone, I have ensured that this team will be relevant for years to come. Having two core pieces around Rose who know their role and play excellent defense. I picked players who can help me win not tomorrow, but both today and tomorrow.

Salary for upcoming season
Rose - 16
Jenkins - .7
Teague - .8
Bradley - 1.6
Richardson - 5.8
Arenas - Unkown
Butler - 8
Turkoglu - 11.8
Randolph - 16.5
Johnson - Unknown
Blatche - Unknown
Bismack - 3
Diaw - 4.5

Total: 68.7. With the signing of Johnson, Arenas and Blatche it will probably push it to 72-74. We will be slightly over the luxury tax at 70 million, but Washington has proven it is willing to spend where there is a winning product on the court. With the roster that we have, we feel that this is easily feasible for this franchise.

Outlook

We don't think that we have the best team... yet. We do indeed have a playoff team in the Eastern Conference and once Rose gets healthy a team that can indeed compete to make it to the finals. I won't sit here and say that there isn't a team better than us in the Eastern Conference because at the end of the day that's for you to decide.

Coaching Statement:
We have a very exciting team w/ a very productive scorer in Carmelo Anthony and I plan to implement a high octane offense here that'll exploit our strengths and expose other teams weaknesses by pushing the ball, fast breaking at every opportunity as we have a guy in Josh Smith along w/ our PG Kyle Lowry who can start/ finish the break as well as execute/ initiate the offense. We've got a young guy in DeMar who can get out and run and finish the break and we've got uh guys in Emeka and Josh who can rebound the ball to get the fast break started. In the half court set which is a strength of Carmelo's, I expect us to get the ball to that guy practically everytime down the floor as he's one of the most effective and efficient scorers in the League and he's proven to come up big in big games and on the big stage as well, he's a proven closer so I think we'd be able to be in darn near every game we play and w/ a closer like that you're liable to come out on top cause that's what this League is about when you play the upper tier teams, closing and we know we've got that. Our bench is darn near just as good as our starters w/ Kirk running the offense and JR scoring the ball, Wes out there finishing and being disruptive on the defensive end and our rookie Miles can jump and shoot w/ the best of them and I'm eager to bring him along. We've also got Jermaine who is a no nonsense kinda guy and you need that in this League to be able to successfully compete at a high level. We've also got Mehmet, a big who can stretch the floor, AJ can shoot it, Manny is a very underrated player and I fully expect him to push boh JR and Wes for playing time so those guys better watch out (crowd chuckles), we got Anthony Tolliver, another tough vet to help push Miles along and then we've got our secret weapon Greg whose working out w/ Steve and he's gonna come along just fine and we fully expect him to make a major impact come next season.

Image
GM Statement: Not including the 3yr/ $6M contract of Head Coach Paul Westphal, fiscally we're at $75.417M, which pushes us over the $70M luxury tax so we will be paying $10+M in tax but we feel it is definitely worth it to put the type of team/ product out there on the court to be winner and as the saying goes, you have to spend money to make money and we have one of the top jersey sellers in the League in Carmelo Anthony and we feel that the type of team we're putting on the floor which will be an exciting uptempo team will push ticket sales thru the roof, not only in our arena but every arena we go to as well as getting us plenty of National Television exposure which will undoubtedly help our bottom line and we plan on putting out a high quality, championship caliber product for many years to come and we realize that Josh Smith who is a major piece of our team will be a FA but we will make sure we do everything financially possible to make sure he doesn't want to go anywhere and if that means we'll be a luxury tax team for years to come then so be it because we also have a bottomline as a franchise and that is to win a title in the beautiful city of Denver, CO! (Crowd erupts)!

OVERVIEW
I have built a rugged defensive minded team that can score when necessary. We have the athletic bodies to score in transition and off turnovers, as well as the talent and smarts to score in half-court sets.

HEAD COACH
Alvin Gentry
Well respected by both young players and veterans alike. Knows how to coach both ends of the floor and has gotten the most out of whatever roster he's had. Not a coach to complain or ever make excuses. Has overachieved with Phoenix every season he has coached them.

STAR PLAYERS
Chris Bosh
How easy people forget that before he went to Miami, Bosh was a 5 time allstar with the Raptors and put up 24 and 11 in his final season with them. Even as the #1 option, he always scored at high efficiency. He took the Raptors to the playoffs twice as a franchise player. This team is more capable than any of his Raptors squads he had to carry on both ends of the floor. There is no proof that he's lost any part of his game in Miami. What he's lost in stats, he's gained in veteran know-how and winning mentality as an NBA CHAMPION.

Tyson Chandler
The super athletic defensive center that Bosh has never gotten to play alongside. A better fit alongside Bosh's game than Amar'e's. Unlike Amar'e, Bosh's offensive game is not as heavily reliant on the pick and roll, as he can score from the high post much more effectively, allowing Tyson to be the primary pick and roll man. Bosh also has a grasp of defensive principles that Amar'e does not come close to comprehending. The Bosh/Chandler pairing is as good as it gets for defense at the PF/C position in this BAT. They can keep up with the faster/athletic front court players, but also match up with the bruiser/physical ones as well. Ohh yeah, he's an NBA CHAMPION.

Jeff Teague
One of the underrated better defensive point guards in the league. Ranked second last season among point guards in total blocks (John Wall ranked first) and 8th in total steals in the whole league (4th among point guards). I expect at least 16 and 6 from him on this roster which should not be a stretch considering he's likely to average at least that or better with the Hawks this season.

Ray Allen
Will absolutely relish the opportunity of an increased offensive role in not just scoring, but running plays with Bosh and Chandler. He is still more than physically capable to handle being the 2nd/3rd best scorer on a winning team. Will be the recipient of many 3-pt handoffs from Teague on the break. Another NBA CHAMPION.

ROLE PLAYERS
Alonzo Gee: Considered the Cavaliers' best perimeter defender. Just finished his 3rd year in the league averaging 10 and 5 (12 and 6 in games he started).

Jared Dudley: Considered the Suns' best perimeter defender. Just had a career season averaging 13 and 5. He is the 10th best 3-point shooter among active players in the NBA at 40.9%. He has shot at a very high clip since he's 2nd season in the league, now going into his 6th.

Udonis Haslem: A legitimate defensive enforcer who would be a starting PF on many NBA teams. His 15-18 foot jumper and rebounding/defensive ability allows him to play alongside either Bosh or Chandler with ease. TWO TIME NBA CHAMPION.

Amir Johnson: Young 6'11 athletic big man who rebounds and blocks shots. Allows for team to not lose its inside presence defensively when Chandler goes to the bench.

Lou Amundson: Athletic hustle big man who is a luxury to have as a 5th big, considering he was Roy Hibbert's main back-up center all of last season with the Pacers.

Raja Bell: 1st All Defensive Team in '07 and 2nd All Defensive Team in '08. Can still knock down the three at a high clip and defend for a good 16 mpg. A known winner his entire career, with deep playoff series experience on the Sixers, Mavericks, and Suns.

Steve Blake: Veteran pass first point guard who can knock down the three.

Dominic McGuire: Athletic forward who has built a reputation in the league of being able to guard every position on the floor. He was in the top five percent of all NBA players as an isolation defender last season.

Jannero Pargo: veteran scoring point guard who lit it up for Atlanta all last season.

PROJECTS
Aaron Gray: Must wait and see how he performs with Toronto. Has shown flashes of promise in the post. Should improve under the tutelage of Tyson Chandler and Udonis Haslem.
Xavier Henry: Needs to find a consistent role on a team. Has potential to develop into a solid defender and shooter at SG, possibly a poor man's Aaron Afflalo.
