I will be around most of the day and do not pick again until #259. If anyone doesn't think they can make their pick and wants to send me their board I can make your pick for you to speed this up.

bish1324@aol.com

Just let me know that you sent me your board and I can help make your pick if needed.

Nice Pekovic pick, was hoping he'd go unnoticed until my pick.

Yeah. I had him penciled in because I dont think many people realized he came over and had him on the board. This is good value and completes my roster.

Jrue Holiday - Rodrigue Beubois - Eric Bledsoe
DeMar DeRozan - Omri Casspi
Nicolas Batum - Jonas Jerebko
DeMarcus Cousins - DeJuan Blair
Andrew Bynum - Hasheem Thabeet - Nikola Pekovic

I think thats a very very good young roster, that can make the playoffs year one. Will shut teams down and has a very solid half court sets. Enough 3 point shooting with Holiday, Batum, Casspi and even Roddy B. Good midrangers with Cousins, Blair, Jerbko and DeRozan. Post up game with Cousins, Bynum, Blair and Pekovic. I think this team is one of the better value teams.

thanks.

I already have 4 coaching choices and all are assistants or not in the NBA so I think one should be in the 13th.

You certainly did a bang up job wheeling and dealing the minute you took over as GM, putting together a collection of some quality young talent. But I'm not sold that a team that resembles that of a Rookie/Sophomore challenge roster, with no proven leadership, nor a "go to" guy...is looked at as a playoff team, especially considering you speaking of hiring an "Assistant" coach or a non-NBA head coach to lead them.

Yes you put together a nice collection of talent, and you have a good eye for that talent as well as a keen sense of when to net that type of player at what time...BUT...I just can't see a team built like this having success in the league. Maybe it's just me, but there are so many elements to a build...and you beat the horse with one of them.

This is 4.0 and we still haven't got this right yet. I know you can't please everybody, but its up to those individuals to step up their game and make this as realistic as possible. Waiting til the 13th round to select the leader of your "playoff" team is basically making a mockery of the fact that we introduced coaches into the player pool itself. If nobody was going to take it seriously, then why bother? It would be one thing I guess if you limited the coach availability to only the 30 that coach in the game today, but instead we decided..."hire whoever the heck you want".

I guess I really can't blame anyone for not concerning themselves with the believability of the competition, but this is REALGM...and this BAT gives us the closest thing possible to being that.

Hey Swiss, what's your thoughts on the deal Smoke and I made? I know you said it would be interesting to see what became of our discussions.

I like Smoke's style a lot. It may not always be the direction I would have taken, but he always builds a team with a plan and finds a way to find players that compliment each other throughout the roster. With that said...if I were consulting with him before he decided to pull a trigger, I would have told him NO WAY you make that trade.

He basically traded a young Camby for the old Camby, and took on Charlie V's putrid contract for an 8th rounder. Not to mention he handed over Shawn Marion in the process. Was it worth it for an 8th rounder? I don't think so...sorry Smoke.

newera...obviously I LOVED the deal for your side, but I'd like to see you take a different direction with your roster. There is ONE guy in you Starting Lineup that doesn't fit in with the rest, and if you replace him with a guy that can spread the floor...you'll have the makings for a quality uptempo team.

Maybe SSOL?

Yeah I guess so, the board seems dead today. I was hoping the draft would move along on a Sunday.

And swiss I agree with you on the Wolves. Ra, while I love the quality youth and talent that you have assembled, and respect the job that you have done taking over in a tough situation mid-draft, I don't feel that the Wolves as constructed would be a playoff team. I just think that a team with that much inexperience would have a hard time getting into the playoffs. I do however, love your future.

swiss, as far as the coach goes, I would say that you need the players to make a successful coach. Taking a coach before you have at minimum your eight-man rotation down seems counterproductive. If you take a Phil Jackson, it looks great, but if you have a 30 win team, I would argue that Jackson is not a great choice at all. He would probably retire after one year leaving your franchise in worse shape. I think most GM's feel that picking a coach before a rotation player is a risk, unless you are picking a young up and coming coach that will stick with your franchise through a down year. And in a B-a-T, that is a counterproductive. That is my thinking on it anyway, but everyone looks at it different, that is what we will be judged on.

My take on it is that you should already have a Coach (or Coaches) in mind to DETERMINE what kind of players you draft to fill your rotation, and get that guy when your time is right. Instead, some see it as get a collection of players and I'll just take someone who's available at the end of the draft.

Whenever I do one of these BAT's, I always try to put myself in the shoes of those executives who build these franchises. It should obviously be fun, but it makes it more interesting to make it realistic at the same time.

I dunno...I think I just have to stop doing these BAT's and just get a real job in some teams Front Office. :)
