it was probably the smart move. for him and landry. i don't know that they'll make more money next time.

yup.

there is no way landry ever sniffs that contract again. He might not even be in the league before his contract is over.

Lin on the other hand is at worst a backup pg. If barea can make 5mil a year, lin makes that easy even if he ends up being a 10/6 guy.

Looking back now and considering how he is playing so far this year, the wise move would have been to take the 4 year deal without the balloon payment. He'll get a minimum contract for his 4th year if he does not improve.

Look, Lin did what was best for him. Went to a place where he could make mistakes, learn and develop. In the meantime, the Knicks got a better fit with Raymond Felton. It was handled poorly but worked out for the best.

Glad we dodged that bullet. Glad also the Lin groupies are nowhere to be seen I wonder why.

You deserve a gold star.

But, since gold stars are not administered here on RealGM, I will reward you a "And 1" instead... and also this

"I got out of a workout, and my agent called me and said, 'There's a new offer,'" Lin recalled. "I said, 'What happened to the old one?' I was told it wasn't on the table anymore, that they scratched it and made a new one."

I don't really understand what you guys are talking about, that's almost exactly the same as

"It wasn’t like they gave me the choice to sign one of the two and I chose the one that would hurt the Knicks. I had one contract offer. That was it.”

Unless you're confusing the "one contract offer" as meaning only one contract ever offered, instead of only one contract offer available to sign. There's no contradiction there.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting that Shump and Novak are the main guys he's still friends with, and why everything probably worked out best for both sides. Lin is a young player better off with a young team, and we're a vet team that's better off with a vet point guard.

Some people here suffer from issues with reading comprehension. So I shall help with a SIMPLER EXAMPLE.

Image
Jeremy Lin is offered NATASHA Kirislenko.

The Knicks state they will match anything up to 100,000 Natasha's 1 hot russian blondie for every meal of the day.
Image

Jeremy Lin wakes up a few days later.. dreaming of playing with Novak Melo Amare Chandler etc
Image

And gets a phonecall
Image

Natasha is GONE Jeremy....

Image

But there is good news! The Rockets are going to give you ANASTASIA!

Image

You may be wondering where NATASHA went?????

Image

She is no longer going to Jeremy's home, she will never meet him, and he will never meet her. He just "heard of her". Much like if you were to see your MAXIM magazine at the stand on the street - or in your local convenience store etc.

Image

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now I hope those whom created their own understanding of events - NOW "GET IT" and "What happened".

There was only 1 for Jeremy to sign.
Image

and he signed thinking..
Image

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Braintrust @ NYK said...

Image

So then Lin had to leave..
Image

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Image

And then the Knicks brought in a few good men.

Including Jason the Kidd
Image

Raymond the CHIP - Felton!!
Image

and others !

-----------------------------------------------------

Image

and the knicks lived happily ever after ~

Image
People have to remember that - the NBA is a BUSINESS. The Knicks are PROPERTY owned and provide revenues to feed the Dolan family.
Image

Its about making smart business decisions and they had to choose what was best for the Knicks in the end.
and as a by product - there was a sweet streak and run - to open the season.

The End.

Lin is a shady person IMO. He's trying too hard to be a good guy and spreading Christianity like Tebow. Personally I think he is just doing this to stay relevant in the league and it worked big time.

Lin now gets benched for Toney Douglas. I feel like we have too many Lin threads and not enough Douglas threads since he is the better player as of late.

You should make a TD thread then.
