Debatable. That Orlando team was never the most talented outside of Dwight.
Exactly how I saw it. There's only 1 other head coach that hasn't been picked that has won an NBA title that is eligible to be picked. So does that mean no other team in this BAT that hasn't picked a coach already cant win? Nope.

Not a name drop if the players have already been selected way earlier in the draft dude

when have we ever allowed someone to post there opinion on the official draft thread. Please remove it and put it in the discussion thread.
...Right. Because I did it on prupose.![]()
As a Magic fan, I love the BS spin on SVG to make him sound good.
Very humorous.
Good regular season coach in terms of pregame strategy...
Other than that...
-Refuses to make in-game adjustments (09' Finals)
-Does not develop young players (Name one he helped develop)
-Does not get the most out of his players (Gortat, Bass)
-Horrible player relations (Heat & Magic)
-Won't make rotational changes even if they fall in his lap (Ish Smith v Chris Duhon)
He coaches based on numbers...not reality. He will put your team in a good position to win, but then once the game starts...he will get out coached by the other 29 coaches in the NBA.
Every player the Magic went after HAD to fit his system...and if they didn't...they didn't play. That is not how you coach a team.
And what exactly is his system? He's consistently among the best defensive rated teams in the NBA and yet his teams, other than Howard, had about as awful a mix of guys as you can possibly want to play defense as you can get (see Jameer Nelson, Hedo Turkoglu, the guy who I can't name that has the long time running worst contract in the NBA, Bass, Reddick, Ryan Anderson, etc). He's coached 2 superstars and a pretty loaded team in Miami (Shaq...probably the most potent all around post player in NBA history...and Wade, Mourning, etc) and made that work. He's coached Dwight Howard (who's limited offensively beyond dunks...and yes...he is...no matter how often Patrick Ewing worked with him) and a bunch of basic crap in Orlando and made that work (and made them look good doing it).

I wouldnt want that coach either. I actually was thinking about SVG as my coach since my team would fit his system pretty perfectly.

Yeah I didn't want him either.
JVG has coached a more physical uptempo team (Miami) and he's coached a more finesse team (Orlando)...the Miami model probably is closer to my team (no not saying I have Shaq and Wade but the tempo probably is In both cases...and it was actually rather surprising giving the general reputation of Orlando as a 3 point shooting offensive geared team...his teams were always defensively very strong (consistently ranked among the top teams in the NBA defensively). That's what I wanted. The other 2 "veteran" coaches that I was considering were good coaches but not as accomplished as SVG was and neither one of them has won **** either.

Re: BAT 8.0 TRADE DISCUSSION (DRAFT IN OTHER THREAD) PART II

The Denver Nuggets have agreed in principle to trade PF Donatas Motiejunas and SG Brandon Roy to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for C Emeka Okafor and the 387th pick.
The Nuggets have agreed to the trade and are awaiting confirmation from the Dallas Mavericks.

His system is EXTREMELY well defined. Look at every game he coached in Orlando. No matter how much his roster changed, it was the exact same plays being run offensively and defensively.
Stan has said on the record a million times that he is all about numbers. The most efficient shot in the game of basketball is the 3 PT shot. If you shoot 44% on 2 PT shots & 30% on 3 PT shots...you are better off taking ALL 3 PT shots. That is of course, if you go by the numbers. Reality tells us differently. Stan lives in the numbers world...which is why when it comes down to crunch time or when the games really matter...his system falters and then he has no idea what to do.
Are you really going to give him credit for defense? Come on man...we don't need to get in to this one.
To say Dwight is limited offensively outside of dunking tells me that you have not watched him in the last 4-5 years. The guy has a VERY well rounded post game. He is right handed...but even better at finish with the left in the post. He can post on either block. Spin either way. Use either hand. Has great hands. Passes well out of the double team. Great footwork. He still can't shoot...that is his only flaw on offense.
The team he took to the Finals had Nelson, Turk, & Lewis all playing at their peak. From that moment forward, we got consistently worse. Yet...Stan never made a single adjustment.
How can you possibly expect to win when everyone around you is getting better, you are getting worse, and you haven't changed anything your team does?

Random thought of the day- Dwight Howard went from Patrick Ewing to Kareem Abdul Jabar. That is all...

I'm still not sure why everyone is so high on Roy. Has he shown something I haven't seen?

I'm not super high on him myself, but off the bench, he might be very effective. The last we saw of him didn't he drop like 25ppg in the 4th quarter of a playoff game? He will probably be limited to be 15-20 mpg against second units, but might be the best player on the floor when he's out there. Also could help close games.

yeah, we may not have seen what he can do, but there's a reason minny gave him that much money. yeah their franchise isn't the smartest (which draft did they get like 4 PG in 1st round?), but no one is stupid enough to spend THAT much money on a guy that would be useless. 15-20 mpg is all he needs, and if that's all he's playing, he's deadly off the bench

I'm not sure you know who that dude is but I'm completely good w/ taking that risk especially considering Steve Hess' track record.
Kenyon double microfracture - a - ok
Nene torn ACL - a -ok
training staff seems like it would be part of the equation in this BaT.
Besides, I'm a slide Oden into the lineup behind Okafor VERY SLOWLY, like as in around or after All Star break in 10-15min/ game to check progress etc.
