seriously. sometimes rolling with the hot hand is necessary, especially in an ugly one like yesterday.

thibs will hear non of it...he follows his minutes card to a tee.

Thibs sucks. If they extend him, they will end up firing him after a year and paying him like every HC we had prior to signing him.

His contract will be a piece for the next big trade..Problably Randle plus Hart for Towns or something like that.

I mean, he’s rebounding and initiating breaks. But that shooting is looking real rough. As are the attempts at off-dribble creation.

Would be dumb to dump Grimes (who still has big time 2-way potential) and keep Hart...

Hart is a backup sf and that’s it. He should play when OG is resting and when OG is playing PF for Randle. He’s not shooting well enough to play the 2 and doesn’t appear to be able to guard any shooting guards. He may should probably be limited to 20 minutes a game at this point.

Not even under consideration. The reports all indicate we want a facilitating guard to offer JB some help in that area. If THJ was in the conversation you’re better off just keeping the cheaper Grimes.

After the Anunoby trade, Grimes is the sole young player the Knicks could throw into a deadline deal. Thus, if they traded Grimes, they would want someone on a contract they consider tradeable in return, a player with a salary preferably in the teens or low $20 million that would be attractive to a franchise dealing away a star in June or July, according to league sources.

The Knicks could pair Evan Fournier — who is on an expiring, $18.9 million contract — with Grimes to bring back a contract of that size.

Some players who fit that description include (in no particular order): the Portland Trail Blazers’ Malcolm Brogdon, the Utah Jazz’s Jordan Clarkson and Collin Sexton, the Charlotte Hornets’ Terry Rozier, the Indiana Pacers’ Bruce Brown and T.J. McConnell, the Atlanta Hawks’ Bogdan Bogdanović, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Caris LeVert and the Dallas Mavericks’ Tim Hardaway Jr.

Defensive Numbers: Knicks/Magic

The Good:

OG defended a team high 19 FGA across 44min and the Magic missed 11 (42%)

The Bad:

Randle was 6-11 defensively (54%)

The Ugly:

Flynn: 4-6
Grimes: 3-5

The Downright Hideous:

Josh Hart allowed the Magic to shoot 9-12 FG

When your bench isn’t providing anything sufficient offensively how are you going to win a game where 3 of your second unit players allow the opposition to shoot 16-23 (70%)

With respect to Josh Hart - he’s losing guys back door, late closing out and generally gets bulldozed by anyone over 6’5”. He did an admirable job on Donovan last playoff but that’s also because he’s only 6’2”. Look at every single matchup - players who are bigger than Hart (he’s only 6’4”) who have some length/separation give him serious fits. It’s one thing if your shot isn’t falling but when you don’t play D, jump in mid-air going nowhere & take fall-away bricks you do not deserve a gift wrapped 29min a night.

These offensive scoring droughts and asking Randle to almost play a point forward role with the 2nd unit is a horrible idea. DDV surprisingly looked best getting to the rim but he’s a historically poor finisher so that ain’t no answer. I’m just tired of watching so many wasted offensive possessions with players who won’t dribble, won’t drive and will consistently look for last second bail out attempts like the damn fall is on fire.
