The worst fans
Traveled the EC a long time ago and went to a baseball game in Boston. Was shocked how comfortble they were with being openly racist. They were spitting disgusting sht to me just assuming I was cool with it cause I was white, too. Made me realize that it has to be common practice.
It's insane to me that the entire Celts team is 99% Black, the coach is Black, their star players are all Black and yet these people hate Black people. I don't understand it. It's bizarre and weird. It's the same thing with Indiana, Utah, and OKC fans. Like what possesses you to root for a team full of Black people yet you're calling opposing players racial slurs? Who raised them?
I'm not painting all Boston fans with that brush obviously, because truth is there are lots of fans that aren't about that, but it's still disturbing. I wouldn't want to play there if I was in the league.
Boston’s entire second unit are pasty face white guys. Tatum went to Duke. Jaylen is probably the cleanest cut and most intelligent player in the entire NBA. Bill Russell paved the way for their acceptance a long time ago.
I’ve been to Utah, Indy, and OKC. Their racism is very different because there aren’t many/any black people around. What’s amazing about Boston is the resilience of anti-black racism in a highly populated liberal northeast city. The Larry Bird era and the Patriot’s dynasty didn’t help, and neither does the Barstool movement. But I digress.
Oh, and my favorite Racist Celtics fun fact: Go to any sports bar in any major city in America and you will find white guys rooting for the Celtics. The Great White Hope endures and gives secret (or not so secret) Trump voters a rationalization to follow the NBA.
And one more: Brad Stevens is the whitest man in America, but it’s a close call with Danny Ainge.
