Read between the lines, Isiah got a guarantee from Carmelo

Post#1 » by NYCATASTROFE » Tue Aug 10, 2010 10:27 am

Carmelo told Isiah that he is going to sign with the Knicks in 2011. Isiah deserves a job with the Knicks. The man is still working hard for the team. 8-)

There are no lines to be read between. Isiah has a guarantee alright, and that's to finish what he's started when he left...

the knicks don't need isiah to get carmelo. i'm sure amar'e has more power than isiah when it comes to carmelo, because of their friendship.

i was just thinking that.. because when they were on the yacht for melo & lalas pre wedding party Amare's manager tweeted that they were talking about the future & then he tweeted "im gona say it now, Carmelo to the NY Knicks!" not in those exact words tho.. so i dont think we need isaiah to make that happen

We don't need Isiah for anything. Isiah is a known failure at everything he touches, other than playing basketball. If Isiah was all well connected every other team would see him as an asset and would have hired him. Of course he is coaching FIU so that tells you about that. Dolan is up there as one of the worst owners in all of sports. The man is a flat out moron. We can pluck anyone off 7th Avenue that would do a comparable job.

Good point. Amar'e, MSG, the Five Boroughs, and a little bit of winning this season is all you need for Melo if he is willing to take on the challenge.

As far as Melo, I don't see a D-Bag type who cares about whether Isiah is in the organization (like a fool like Maverick Carter). I mean really, who cares? The whole thing is stupid.

The man who has put the team together and acted with financial restraint and savvy to make Melo (and Paul) possible and to put the Knicks in this position -- Donnie Walsh -- should be more than enough for any superstar looking where to play. Especially when you compare Donnie's smart work to the track record of Isiah Thomas. Do you want an intelligent person running the show who can help the Knicks get to the promised land or a self-centered maniac who doesn't care about the Knicks 1/10th as much as he cares about himself?

And personally, I find it to be borderline racist to think that an African-American ballplayer simply wants an African-American or former ballplayer, whichever it is, in order to go to any place. Melo's coach and GM in Denver were white and I don't think he ever complained about that fact. And if Melo is holding out for Isiah (it's laughably not true IMHO), then I'll go so far as to say I don't want him. We want talented players who want to be in NY for the right reason: Not because Isiah Thomas is there.

It's my opinion that Melo wants to make sure that good people are in charge where he is going, not Isiah Thomas just because he's Isiah Thomas.

BTW I'd rather have Kenny Smith on board and I think he's looking for a front office job. Kenny is no great shakes either but at least he has a brain and probably won't sexually harass his assistants.

I will say one thing about isiah. The one thing he can do is sweet talk. I do believe that we missed that type of closer in our presentation, we didn't have that guy that would promise the world like a Riley would.

Having said that, we don't need him to have a real role to do that. If Anthony gets to free agency, then bring Isiah in at that time but that's it. Really no point in hiring him back now because we don't even know if Anthony will get to free agency and Paul has little power to determine where he gets traded to this season.

This "guarantee" is about as sure a thing as Lebron coming to NYC.

Knicks get Carmelo Anthony means bye bye Danilo Gallinari. No way does Melo play the 2, or we can use Gallinari as the 6th man role and he backs up the 3 and 4.

I know he made the franchise spiral downward even more after Layden but he's only a consultant. Walsh still has the final say. Plus Thomas is not getting the gm job away from Houston. Hopefully, Houston doesn't hand out 100 million contracts unless its truly an elite player.
