KB2011 MOCK: 21st Pick Blazers Select Kenneth Faried

Despite all the injuries that have plagued this franchise they still manage to win and be among the better teams in the NBA. With a new GM in place and not a small number of needs the Blazers have their work cut out for them. While both Marcus Camby and Andre Miller have withstood the test of time they are never the less getting older and both players enter the 2011-2012 season on the final years of their respective contracts. With Greg Oden no guarantee and longtime mainstay Joel Przybilla gone size up front is a need. But so is point guard where the Blazers do not have much depth behind the 35 year old Miller.

I'm going with Faried. Portland was one of the worst rebounding teams in the NBA this past season and Faried will obviously help. And while he's not a C, the Blazers right now reliably have only Aldridge and Camby at the power positions on the roster. Camby will be 37 by the end of the upcoming season and missed more games last season than at any point in the past 5 years. So, yeah, Faried. Too risky (especially for them) to go with Tyler who really is the only other big in range.

Can't really see them taking Hamilton. They are loaded at the wings (the 2 and 3 positions) with Roy, Batum, Gerald Wallace, Wesley Matthews, Rudy Fernandez, Elliot Williams and Luke Babbitt all under contract. They need size (beef up front) and someone that might actually project to be able to start for them at PG once Miller is done (Patty Mills and Armon Johnson don't project to be that).

Rumor has it they have a promise in place with Reggie Jackson, so I picked him.

Rumors are floating around about what's going on with Reggie Jackson. Is he legitimately injured? Does he have a draft promise? Why did he cancel all of his workouts?

Jackson and his agent have been suspiciously quiet throughout the draft process. After withdrawing from the New Jersey Nets Draft Combine and the official NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, it was reported by numerous outlets that Jackson had a legitimate injury.

But why would Jackson not work out for any teams, not at least interview for any teams, not even show up at the Chicago Combine, and stay so quiet over the past couple months?

It's quite obvious at this point that Reggie Jackson has a draft promise. But which team is it?

This is mostly speculation (multiple sources said they believe this theory as well) but all signs point to Reggie Jackson's draft promise coming from the Portland Trail Blazers with the 21st pick.
