What trades would you like this offseason?

I don't think the Knicks can really compete as a championship team right now. I'm not sure what piece is missing though. There just seems to be a lack of chemistry sometimes.

I'd definetly like to see Phil Jackson. Hopefully Jeremy Lin will also return to form.

What trade(s) do you think the Knicks should make to get a team capable of winning the championship?

Let Smith go and pick up a SG who doesnt have the brains of a 5 year old.

Re-sign Lin and Novak.

Depth at the C/PF positions

Gadzy, JJ44, and Jorts dont seem to be rotational players

and it seems like this roster has sooo many guards....

You have to look into moving Stat, unfortunately.

We need a high energy big that can finish around the rim. Better than jj I love his intangible but he is just to small he is a pf he can't be playing 5 with a much quicker miami team or huge bulls team and we need a true point guard that can get our guys easy shots cause carmelo has to work TOO hard to score
Orlando Magic
Mike Woodson
Chauncey Billups/Dj Augustin/Darius Johnson-Odom
Monta Ellis/James Jones/DeShawn Stevenson
Rudy Gay/Jae Crowder/Sacha Pavlovic
David West/Royce White/Juwan Howard
Andre Drummond/Festus Ezeli/Ben Wallace

Knicks need a backup big man, a PG and a good SG.

Hope they go after Barbosa, and Patty Mills.

A veteran pair of guards: a legit shooter w/size and a heady speedster comfortable in the distributor role.
A young, rangy and athletic big that can actually play on both sides of the ball. Not quite JJ on offense but not Novak on defense either. Just a capable athlete.

A 3/4 that can play with Melo or back him up.

A team that wants Stat. I hate that but we need the wiggle room to improve our roster.
I'd look into conversations with Golden State, Houston, Cleveland, Charlotte, Philly and depending how free agency pans out maybe we can dangle Amare to Dallas or the Nets.

And maybe I'm naive but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Lin isn't brought back, especially if we can flip him/attach him with Amare for a respectable haul. I'm not advocating it but you have to look into it if it helps us improve the roster.

Amar'e must go. It just has to happen. I think there are a lot of teams for whom 3years/$66 million of Amar'e is a good idea. I think he is a flawed piece for a team that wishes to contend, but he is still capable of making an impact. You need to surround him with shooters and a pick and roll point guard. I think Washington would be smart to trade Rashard's contract for Amar'e.

Moving Amar'e and Lin for Andrea Bargnani and Jose Calderon makes a lot, a lot, a lot of sense, basketball-wise. Putting Melo next to a stretch four changes everything, and Andrea Bargnani is one of the few stretch fours (the other being Dirk) who is also capable of putting the ball on the floor and being dynamic. If they wanted to go the Phil Jackson route, Melo and Bargnani are a very good fit for the triangle. Calderon is a solid ball handler who can shoot and run the offense.

I would also look to the Euroleague for our shooting guard. Those guys may not be athletic freaks, but they are fundamentally solid and a fair amount of them are very good shooters. I don't know which ones would be willing to play in the NBA for minimum contracts. Anthony Parker is the guy within the NBA I would target. Obviously, if we could get Jason Terry or Ray Allen for the minimum, do that, but I highly doubt those two would take the minimum.

Nope. They probably want to see it work with Melo & Stat...
