Jr Smith Vs Jamal Crawford

Postby SwaggedOut30 on Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:40 am

Both 2 guards, both idiots (low BBIQ), both love jacking up 3s, both can come off the bench and score. Both free agents (Crawford opting out) whose better, and a better fit for our team, please discuss.

Smith actually plays defense, so he's def the better fit.

JR can be a lot more dangerous when he gets hot than Jamal. HoweverJamal is more clutch. Having both come off the bench would be like the battle of 6th man of the year. Jamal is a better passer but a little bit more passive. JR i better on the D. They're both ver similar type of players.

Crawford seems to have this rep that somehow he is clutch. I have to wonder where it comes from. I would like to find anyone to present any evidence that he, during crunch time has above average performance. If I recall correctly, when I did look into it, he is below average in crunch time. He doesn't have a notable shooting percentage. Oh yes, he does chuck a lot, and isn't afraid to chuck, but I don't get where fearless chucking = being clutch.

If someone can show where he actually steps up performance wise in crunch time, please do so. Else, I think it is a case of his fans having selective memory of the times he made shots. They remember the 3 out of 10 times he made a 3 in the closing seconds, and think it is 6 out of 10.

I'll take JR smith's defense and ability to drive to the basket over the 40% chucking mid range game of crawford.

Smith is a much better player, and is younger. No brainer.

Yeah Smith is a better fit. Having tasted defense after almost a decade of "defense, wtf is that", the last thing I want is the Knicks to replace one of the better defenders they have for a guy that really isn't a defender especially at this stage in his career (Crawford is 32).

I would never welcome Crawful back here

JR Smith is a small upgrade over him but still not a good fit for our team

both are erratic shooters...neither of these two players ever worked on their game to get better.

both have been the same type of player since coming into this league.

Crawford is a better ball handler and has less off court issues, but other than that Smith is better at everything else including defense. And I was a bit of a fan of Crawford when he was here(I had to root for someone on the roster lol)

Smith plays decent defense at times so he occassionally makes up for his own bone headed offensive decisions. Crawford almost never attempts to play defense. Dont like either one of them but I'd take smith over crawford any day of the week.

This is a good comparison.

They have poor shot selection but I think J.Craw stifles ball movement a bit more with all that crossover crap he does, and like everyone else has mentioned JR's defense gives him he leg up on this one. (although Crawford can give you something defensively the way he plays he passing lanes and gets steals)

JR slightly>J. Craw

Pretty much...

BTW I'd take either one of them as our 6th man over not having anything. I just dont like either one of their games very much but still either one of them helps our team considerably coming off of the bench over some of the other options around the league.

So was I. Was a huge fan of his when he was playing @ Michigan and followed him on the bulls. Thought Him and Jay Williams were gunna tear **** up. Untill the pavement tore Jay up.

I acually personally know Jay Williams (not like good friends with him or anything) and have played pick up ball with him. Fun fact, his mom was also the assistant princaple/diciplinary person at my high school. We also share the same barber.

Back on topic. I was a Jamal fan and was so happy when he was traded to NY (I use to trade for him in NBA live) I still am a fan of Jamal even after his NY years...but no way do i want him back on this team over JR smith. I would take him at a discount if we had no other options, but hes too much of a liability more times then not.
