I'll hold off a little bit. McHale is not type who plays new guys. He doesn't play T-Jones although dude played out of his mind in pre-season.

But no question, he is the missing "alley oop" piece on their team. If Lin could get Landry the scrub and Shump tons of alleys last season, he will get T-Rob tons of them. Greg Smith can catch pass and dunk/ finish, but he still ain't scoring without Lin (he should donate half his salary next season to Lin). And, T-Rob is a much better offensive player than Smith. Unless the trade really bothered/ negative-psyched him, T-Rob will thrive with Lin, Harden and Parsons feeding him. The only reason he puts up the same scrub numbers would be McHale giving him Darko minutes, he's the only roadblock left.

But I'd put my money on McHale starting Smith or Motiejunas over him in first game, even first few weeks, unless he impresses quickly.

I've been kinda surprised Motiejunas hasn't played at all. Maybe he'll play now that both Patterson and Morris are gone.

I guess Beverly will see more minutes too.

Morey is really high on Robinson so I believe he will eventually get a lot of play time. He basically said the reason to trade Morris is to free more play time. So now McHale has no choice but to play these rookies more.
Morey is playing moneyball again.

@ESPNStatsInfo: Melo was traded on this date 2yrs ago. Since then, the Nuggets are 6th (.616) & the Knicks are 10th (.566) in win pct

Hmmm

The Nuggets won .207% of their games the year before Melo.

The Nuggets won .598% of their games with Melo, and got to the WCF

If the regular season ended today, the Knicks would play the Celtics in the 1st round, the Nuggets play the Grizzlies. Who would have a better shot making it to the 2nd round?

Knicks

Is this supposed to be some kind of empirical argument?

The current Nuggets weren't a 17 win team the year before either. Let's not pretend they were starting from the same place.

And I think a WCF appearance trumps slightly more regular season success.

Do you think this Knicks team is better than that Nuggets teams... as it sits right now?

That's not really relevant to the what that poster was trying to say with his baseless stat.

Agree to that, and I'll answer you
