Way to go, Woodson. Way to be your typical unsure self.

Why can't he give a straight answer?

"Kidd is probably one of our best defenders being out on the perimeter, as old as he is," Woodson said. "He gets beat from time to time, but for the most part, he's pretty good and clever at pushing guys off their sweet spots when we switch and they try to post him. And he's got pretty good hands when guys have the ball around the rim in terms of stripping and things of that nature.

"So I don't have a problem with Kidd in terms of how he defends or if somebody tries to take advantage of that, because he's pretty good at holding his own."

The Knicks can work out their constant switching by having Felton and Iman Shumpert improve defensively. That means better predicting, communicating and fighting through screens. If they can stay with their man better, that will not only help Kidd, but it will also allow Tyson Chandler to protect the basket better. Too many times lately, he has been stuck on opposing guards, leaving the paint more vulnerable.

So Woodson doesn't think the excessive switching is a problem?

I don't see any other team that switches as much as the Knicks (maybe the Lakers).

Kidd does a good job at defending bigger players in the post, but the thing is that he shouldn't have to, except maybe one or twice a game, because there was absolutely not way to avoid the switch.
It's hard being a Knicks fan...

I know defense has been a problem, but it's possible that the starting lineup in even worse offensively.

Kidd is inconsistent and does possess a driving game anymore
Shumpert is coming off injury and wasn't what you'd call a lights out shooter even in the healthy version.

Or, to put it more clearly, neither is close to being an "all around" offensive player.

So, couple that with an offensively limited Center (come on, Chandler does only one thing, though well) and now it's THREE incomplete offensive players.

IF Chandler is your center, you need better all arouind players around him. Maybe get by with Kidd or Shump. not both.

Chris Herring ‏@HerringWSJ

Woodson: "I may be a little stubborn" with changing the starting lineup. Says he just wants them to play more anxiously to start games.

Win this for Toronto, you bums.

Joking aside, hope you guys get out of the slump and get back on track.

See you in March, and hopefully in the first round of the playoffs.

the lineup simply isn't a good fit. early in year it worked because brewer was making team's pay for leaving him open and kidd was playing great. shump isn't nearly as effective at the 3 as brewer was, and kidd has fallen off.

amare should start... it's really that simple. melo is a 3. i'm tired of the nonsense about him being better at the 4, that is not true. melo needs bigs behind him to protect the paint. so many times we give up points in the paint because melo is not a good help defender which you need at the 4.

woodson is absolutely clueless.
