OT: Still Watching GAME OF THRONES?
Been watching this series from day one. Boy, its getting gnarly with severed hands and wee-wees. I haven't read the books, so everything is a surprise for me when it happens.
Anyway, figured we could talk about something else besides the Knicks for a moment.
So, ........... (NO SPOILER Responses) .........
Doesn't the little Stark girl seem to be setting up for some big time vengeance?
Who finds the sassy warrior chick oddly sexy?
Isn't the Kalesi pretty savvy building an army by freeing slaves?

Re: OT: Still Watching GAME OF THRONES?
It's the best show on television period! When you say no spoiler, I assume you mean book spoilers right? Because I think a weekly episode discussion is due (we had a thread for Walking Dead for a while).
Anyway,
The Arya I think the youngest Stark's name is...The witch basically told her that she'd catch a lot of bodies and I look forward to it. She's one of my favorite characters on the show. Easily the best Stark family member if you don't count John Snow.
If you're talking about the big blonde chick...gross...If you mean the Wildling girl, yeah she's fly. But Khaleesi (I guess at the spelling on that) has my heart for life. She's got a dope strategy to keep a loyal following and she takes up the torch from my boy Spartacus whose series just ended sadly. When they talked about the number of slaves in that new city though, I couldn't help but think supplies might become an issue...we've already seen that small band of mercenary types complain about supplies and iron throne is being funded by loans as it is. I'm actually wondering how long it'll take Tyrion to take out Tywin and start handling the family business on his own...bc the Lannister family is worthless outside of him.

NO SPOILER RESPONSES?
Damn you.
Clyde, you should post in the media section of Real GM. Lots of great discussions going on there. There are two GOT threads, one for the non-book readers and one for the spoiler/book reader crowd.

God bless this show--except all scenes containing Theon Greyjoy. Pretty sure both book reading viewers and non book reading universally hate these scenes.

Spartacus and Breaking Bad are better shows IMO.
As far as GOT, my complaint is that the main plot moves so slowly as there's so many characters and subplots. They also waste scenes like Theon getting tortured, don't need to see that ever damn episode.
Clyde is talking about lady Brianne I think, I don't find her attractive. Hottest chick on that show is lady Margery, Khaleesy looks 16 ish
Cersei is hot too considering the actress is 39

Re: OT: Still Watching GAME OF THRONES?
One of the better shows on TV for sure, but it moves slow. I plan on buying the books the next time I'm at the bookstore...
One of the best things I can say about this show is that it's told from many perspectives which dilutes the "good guy/bad guy" dynamic and makes the characters a lot more human and believable.

Re: OT: Still Watching GAME OF THRONES?
She has dark hair normally...maybe that's why I'm a fan...usually I'm a dark hair-light eyes fan. Khaleesi got me though...and her new slave home girl is fine as hell too. I'm assuming she'll have some kinda expanded role too since she popped up outta no where. Right now, I want the dragons to run the throne like they deserve too. Stannis is my least favorite king wanna-be.

Spartacus? Really?
I mean I can see an argument being made for Breaking Bad and Mad Men. But Spartacus is straight trash. Entertaining trash, but still trash nonetheless.
To me GOT is in the top 3 when it comes to writing, ambition, acting and character development. The only other two shows that come close are MM and BB. Spartacus is barely above network television in terms of quality writing and acting.

I don't mind his scenes at all. Plus, that boy and his **** horn blowing is hilarious as hell
It's most of the scenes with Daenerys Targaryen that I cannot stand, TV and especially in the books (Currently reading the first book).

I am biased when it comes to Spartacus, story moved pretty fast, had drama, action and a bit of everything else. Also being based on an actual historical event makes it more interesting than a show with dragons/magic etc...
I agree with you that GOT is top notch quality, but the slow pace and "magical" stuff have me leaning towards Spartacus so far.

As a book reader, I'm really disliking Theon's story line as well. I also hate anything involving Shae, mostly because the former porn star that plays her sucks. Not that thrilled about the Bran stuff either.
But other than that, the show's subplots, interactions, story lines and acting are top notch.

I actually watched earlier seasons of Spartacus. After a couple of episodes this year I was done with it. I don't need to see a cheap CGI music video montage with dumb as rocks barbarian chicks grunting and big dicks swinging ever again. It was never very good, but I liked having some sword and sandals diversion to watch. It has became a truly hideous show. And that pidgin English with the idiotic stilted grammatical constructions became completely unbearable to listen to. I mean come on, most of the cast can't act their way out of a paper bag and you give them completely unutterable lines on top of that? It's a joke.

I respect that. For the record, I enjoy Spartacus. I consider it more of a guilty pleasure though.
I enjoy the slow pace because I know the payoffs are going to be worth it.
I can see why people might feel that the show is kind of stalling/slowing down. The books cover so much material. And they have to strike a balance of incorporating the important stuff(which may seem unimportant at the moment) and moving the story along at the same time. This is probably the most ambitious show in the history of television. A huge ensemble, loads of source material, and filming in multiple countries to boot.

The dialogue writing is usually sterling. The writers on GOT really have a knack for compression and advancing the plot through brief exchanges.

Re: OT: Still Watching GAME OF THRONES?
It's pretty crazy to see Iwan Rheon in this show, his character is like Simon from Misfits gone all wrong.
Nathalie Emmanuel was famous for her ass on Misfits.
Hannah Murray was just a crazy chick on Skins.
Pretty damn crazy that this season only has three episodes left.
