and i like cole. but again, phil has made clear that cole is the last big off the bench.

Things change. I don't think Phil's statements were meant more as a challenge to each player rather then be written in stone. Cole might have been on the outside, but he can easily play himself into the rotation.

Plus, at a certain point Fisher can (and will) assert himself as a separate entity as a coach.

It's the first win when the Knicks give up over 100 pts. Of course this is preseason so take the scores like a grain of salt.

Melo was always suppose to carry the load. That never changed.

What changed was hopefully making it easier for him to carry the load. He worked so hard to do everything offensively for the team. This year the hope is that the system puts him in spots score more easily and conserve his energy until we really need him...the 4th qtr.

Melo is paid to carry the team. That is what superstars do. Ideally we wont take the next step until he gets additional help but he was always going to have to be a huge scorer for this team to win this year, we just don't have the talent up and down currently to help him.

Nothing wrong with Melo being the main cog or carrying us through the rough patches -- and it's not like we don't have offensive talent. The key is to make the team hard to guard by moving bodies/ball. The offensive system seems to be taking hold which is great to see.

Next step is the D.

None are ideal so it probably comes down to who fits the best next to Dally/Melo/Shump/Calderon.

I'd say Jason Smith or Acy depending on matchups.

Until Smith shows much improved Defense or Acy shows that he really cant shoot i think Acy has to get the starting job over Smith

Maybe. Keep in mind that Jason Smith is coming back from a knee injury and probably still working himself into game shape. He is better then Acy offensively, and better then Amare/Bargs defensively. He might be our best mix of offense and defense.

Until Acy stops knocking down the open jumper with consistency id give him the best mix tag.- Smith is for sure the better shooter but acy bring so much more on the defense than smith that 1 or 2 more jumpers from Smith just does not compensate for

Why would we want our big man to look like AI? We have a big man that plays like a big man and isn't afraid to mix it up inside unlike Bargnarina.

Amare, Smith, Dally, are the best 3 bigs we have. I have no clue how Bargs fits to really judge him. He's never shown himself to be a competitor so i'm cold on him until proven otherwise. I like Acy but he reminds me too much of Reggie Evans/Ronnie Turiaf types. He wont be consistent enough offensively to start, so his best use is as a defensive, rebounding, hard foul guy off the bench. Thats usually where most guys like him end up and he likely wont be any different. I also like Cole and personally would have started him had we not traded for Dally.

That said, I'd roll with either Jose/shump/melo/amare/dally or jose/jr smith/melo/jason smith/dally..My bench is Prigs/Thjr/Acy/Bargs/Cole..Let larkin and Cleanthony sit and learn until we make trades and what not.

We Need a two way big in the worst way. It's been the missing piece for this team the whole Melo era.

Hello Marc Gasol

I wonder if Memphis tries to trade him to us at the deadline to get something back for him since that seems to be the assumption around the NBA that Gasol is the Knicks Target FA.
