Do you see any change in standings if Kerr was Head Coach?

Post#1 » by poeman » Wed Dec 17, 2014 7:38 pm

Just curious...Both coaches are system guys and Fisher although learning to be a Head Coach and probably not an expert at the game as Kerr as he just retired...

Do you believe if Kerr was Head Coach we would be in a better position right now? Or is the bigger issue the talent level/type of players on this team?

Basically we'd still suck.

I don't think the main issue is coaching. It's the players and their lack of commitment to winning, or at least maximum effort. This team doesn't have the makeup of a winner, you'll have to bring in an entirely new team to see results.

I can't picture many coaches doing much for this team, especially not a rookie HC even with Kerr's success.

We would be better, but by how much is questionable. Kerr is at least a little older and will garner more respect from players, Derek Fisher is not even a full season removed from being a player.

Nope.

Nor do I see any changes in GSW's record if Fisher was the coach.

Nope - losing battle for either coach. I'm more happy with Fisher to be honest -- amazed he hasn't taken a gun out and started shooting it off during press conferences. He's showing remarkable restraint in a brutal situation.

If that is the depth of your analysis, then the only thing ridiculous is your post.

I think kerr would have a very different attitude about the way these guys compete. Unlike Fisher,.. Kerr is not months removed from being a peer. He also has much much more post playing career experience than fisher.

But I have no idea if that means we would have more wins. We might execute better.

The only difference between Kerr and Fisher is that Kerr is free and has talent. Fisher is being forced by Phil to implement the triangle no matter what. He's sticking ill-fitting pieces into a puzzle. Kerr is not doing that in GSW. He is playing more traditional NBA offences with some triangle principles. Not the complete triangle. We won't see Derek Fisher as a real coach until he no longer has to mismatch pieces.

Kerr is about to be tested.
1st test)----hit the iron while it's hot..... Bogut is the most underrated player and defensive lynch pin to that team. Iggy can still be a force in the playoffs. If he can't win now that will say something about his coaching but will also lead to his second test.

2) don't expect both Iggy and Bogut to stay healthy for the next 3 years. If Kerr doesn't hit while the iron is hot he may be looking to rebuild around the core of Curry/Thompson/Green. Then we'll find out how really good he is.

remember, he was in a great situation b4(Phoenix) and failed( or bailed---depending on your perspective)

Fisher on the other hand walked into a complete rebuild with a team full of expiring contracts and no one who can play D.

Will he use actual sense with lineups & rotations? Then he'd be better than DFish. Jury is still out on DFish but that guilty verdict looks imminent. Roster or not, you can't have illogical and counterintuitive decisions dragging this team through the mud just to force a system.

Would Steve Kerr use THJ amare JR on a final defensive possesion down 1?

The rotations thing is completely overblown. If Fisher had consistent talent, he'd have consistent rotations. We've been playing the same rotation the last 4-5 games, and the results have been no different.

How can you give Fish a guilty verdict at all this season?

And yes, Fisher should be doing whatever it takes to implement the system. Triangle Uber Alles. Next year, the Triangle will still be here, but most of these players won't. The time for separating the chaff from the wheat is now.

I dont know whether Kerr would do better with this group, but I cant imagine him doing worse.

What is known is GS plays differently and better. thasn previous year.

Our team on the other hand has gotten worse despite having some upgrades.

Of course not. The Warriors were an already established team with tons of talent. We on the other hand suck and have only 1 good player. Sooooo
