I've watched the 4 episodes and I really enjoy this season a lot. Don't think it was underwhelming at all.

Not bothering with the leaked eps because I ain't really got time to binge watch. I thought the first episode did a good job of laying ground work for the plot lines to come. I could see some separation from the books but not overwhelmingly so just yet.

Nah there's plenty they still have. Brienne, Arya, Jon Snow, Stannis and Dany all have interesting plots ahead and we should get to see the Sand Snakes introduced soon as well.

It was a very good opening episode... episode 1s are always tough as they have to recap the previous season to refresh peoples minds and lay a lot of ground work. Episode 2 looks great as well, after that who knows.

They are deviating from the books quite a bit now it seems, which should make A Feast for Crows content a bit more bearable. For TV they can't really stop showing Jon Snow, Tyrion, Daenerys, Arya. So they will weave their stories into the others and collapse a bunch of characters.

As an example:
Spoiler:
Looks like Mance may really be dead, not glammored, and not going to Winterfell, but Sansa is... so no (F)Arya plot line. They also look like they cut a ton out of the fighting over in Mareen and just cut to the chase

Definitely will watch when they air. I enjoy the weekly conversation and the seasons are short anyway so watching most now will ruin the next 4 sundays.

could you and all your eye patch wearing buddies please post this kind of material in the spoiler thread? I'm not interested in anyone's opinion on shows that haven't aired yet.

PS I liked episode 1 a lot. Thought is was a solid opening to the season. What didn't you like about episode 1?

I'm surprised the show omitted a couple things that happens in the books in regards to the first scene with young Cersei and the witch psychic, I mean its pretty major stuff.

nitpicking is pointing out small flaws in something that's otherwise good, i flat out thought the first 4 episodes sucked, and yes i love the show and out of everyone i know that has watched the first 4 episodes the vast majority were disappointed ... i doubt you will since you're going to have such lowered expectations now

dont be scared off of spoilers things have to actually happen in order to make a spoiler  on the other hand i thought silicon valley season 2 premiere was great

one bright spot i thought was

Spoiler:
when Jaime and Bronn go to dorne and they come across the 4 guys on horses and bronn asked "how many do you think you can take" and jamie says "1 but only if hes slow" then by dumb luck he catches the guys sword with his golden hand

Book spoilers and episodes 1-4 spoilers:

Spoiler:
I wonder if this means Bolton and Little Finger are in touch with each other in the books?

Things were going too well for Stannis, and I'm afraid this alliance will be the surprise that beats Stannis, which will leave the Stark loyalist (Manderlys in particular) vs Roose.

Little Finger was pretty much the guy who won Battle of the Blackwater by just forging a Tyrell alliance. Could he do it again?

The flaw here, obviously, will be that the Vale actually has a lot of Stark loyalist. The only thing keeping them from entering the war with Robb was the insane Lysa Tully. But.... maybe the show just skipped all of that stuff we are seeing of the Vale in the books (LF and Sansa trying to win the Vale with their scheming), and just going forth with the outcome (Little Finger basically having the Vale).

Royce and LF seem pretty friendly in the show, while in the books Royce wants to just kick his ass.
