Sorry to see the good one's go, but that paper is a rag and the market for sports journalist is over saturated.

Lupica is one of the good ones? Can't really say that he has fit that bill in a while.

While I can't be happy for anyone to lose their job, I do wish that guys like Berman and Isola could find different ones.

Lupica hasn't been good for over a decade. Glad to see him get the boot from the radio as well. It's a good day for NY sports.

I'm surprised that newspapers can still afford to keep anybody on staff for sports. Only in NYC I guess. Who reads papers anymore for sports especially?

Lupica was good back in the day probably before I read the paper. He was referenced on Seinfeld a few times.

I never liked him very much, his radio show is terrible and his voice makes me wish I was deaf.
Make the Knicks great again!

I work for a newspaper, you'd be surprised but alot of people still do.

I dont work for a dump like NYDN and NYP though. They sell off bull headlines.

Things are changing though, and that has to be scary. I assume readership is largely baby boomers and those who are older?

In Canada the baby boom was more pronounced than in the US and lasted longer. Newspapers are dropping quick here. Hell, even massive multinational corporations are closing paper mills that produce newsprint all across the country. There are entire towns here that are going under because the mills closed.

With everything going digital and social media, the newspapers should be looking for young, sharp, smart bloggers and forum posters to write their articles.

There's no joy in surviving at the NYDN. It's not some great gig. Isola is a bitter lower-middle-bottom feeder.

Lupica was a disgrace to journalism. Constantly pushing anti-Knicks and Jets stuff to the public.
I hope his radio show gets canceled as well.
