4/19 Democratic Primary

Post#1 » by Knickfan1982 » Fri Apr 15, 2016 12:57 pm

I know we already have a Bernie Sanders topic on this forum but with the primary getting to be so close I was curious to see what the forums preference was regarding the two Democratic Candidates.

There is nothing wrong with socialism. Its just a competing ideology that is more beneficial to the masses than the Republican trickle down theory.

Not surprised. I figured it would turn out that way. While as NYers we should be naturally inclined for Shillary we're all probably millenials, intelligent, internet savy, tend to research things before we speak on them and as Knick fans probably a little too optimistic for our own good. That puts us in the Bernie demographic.

I'm a registered independent so I can't vote in the primary.

Do me a favor and put Bern on the ticket so he can get my vote in November. Thank You.

Socialism has been demonized by the corporate media, while it is an essential part of our lives. It's everywhere, and we all benefit from it.

Things like roads, electric power grids, phone lines, water, sewage, garbage pick up, military services, K-12 schools, police, fire, social security, medicare, courts, prisons and agencies like NASA, CDC, EPA, FBI....

They're all socialism. Most people benefit from the fact that the government implemented them, supports them ($$$) and oversees their operation. Society as a whole has benefited greatly from these systems in place. Technology has advanced at it's fastest rate due to them as well, NASA and the military being the primary reasons. Had we never decided to go to the moon or improve military communications our place on the technology curve would be much further back than it is now and we would most likely not be having this discussion. Thank you socialism.

Here's a few things we take for granted thanks to socialist NASA

Socialism and communism appeals to economic losers, it's completely understandable though. If I have no money, and I hear someone talk about their going to seize all assets, take from the rich, so that no one loses and everyone is a winner that would appeal to me. These are the same people who believe in participation trophies and "everyone is special"

They are two very independant economic and governmental structures. Socialism is and has been the American model for over a century, while Communism is something entirely different, that has led to the collapse of the Soviet Union and is currently strangling the life out of China.

From what you are saying, I take it that you oppose all things our democratic socialist country have implemented, as it is something reserved for "losers". Are you aware that K-12 schools, the military, fire, police, the clean water from your faucet, the garbage that's picked up from your home each week, the roads you drive on to work each day, the internet we are conversing on right now are a direct result from our country being a democratic socialist government?

Maybe your view of socialism is misunderstood, as the media likes to spin socialism (something our country has been for over 100 years) into something evil along the lines of communist Russia. It's understandable, but hopefully you understand now that democratic socialism is the backbone of our country, and is very very different than communism.

That's not socialism...I don't think.
Could be wrong. I haven't taken a social studies class in years.

Stop buying into the conservative sensationalism. Where has Bernie said he's going to seize all the assets of the rich? This country's policies have been slanted towards the "extremely" wealthy for far too long and the playing field must be leveled. Hell the extremely wealthy have paid a significantly lower effective tax rate then the middle class for years.
