That was my immediate thought too. If we're actually going to rebuild, taking Rubio probably isn't the best although I'm sure he'd want to come here due to the international flare.

That does makes some sense for both teams. I think Lee would save them an extra 2 mil in cap space this summer plus whatever extra money they saved by waiving Pekovic so they should have enough cap space to sign a guy like George Hill or Jeff Teague.

i think they are eyeing George Hill in FA or maybe Jrue Holiday. So yeah they would need to shed a bit of salary to make it work.

I like lee but Rubio will have an instant impact with our young guys.

Wouldn't they need a point guard though ?

They're looking to acquire one via free agency.

yup one that better fits next to slasher and drivers like Butler and Wiggins. For more spacing.

If that doesn't work out, buying him out is a must since I don't see them having him ride the bench. He'll probably still start and get his 35 mpg. Tanking for Doncic is the no. 1 priority this year, under no circumstances should Melo or Rose be back. Just fill this team with a crap load of UDFA and over the hill veterans on 1 year deals.

Quite the opposite. It means that PG will not be in Boston uniform and hence, still keeps Cavs as the best team coming out of the East.

But it could also mean that LBJ might bounce out in 2018 to play with PG and Lonzo. Interesting situation!
In short, all I am saying is RJ-Brunson-Grimes-Quickley-Randle are the untouchables moving forward.

I dont know if Minny does it but...

Courtney Lee, Lance Thomas & 2nd round pick for Ricky Rubio

Then.. But out Carmelo..

Ricky Rubio - Ronny Baker - Channson Randle
Frank Ntilikina - Justin Holliday - Damyean Dotson
Mindaugas Kuzminskas - FA
Kristaps Porzingis - Kyle O'Quinn - Nigel Hayes
Willy Hernangomez - Joakim Noah - Marshal Plumle

We get that Euro starting rotation. Entertainig to say the least. But my god that team has got to be the worst team in the NBA and will contend with a top 3 lottery team. Pray that happens

I still think that we can land Rubio for less than Lee because Minny wants to sign a more expensive point guard and will have to clear cap room to do it.

Oh yeah I forgot about Jrue. Kinda have a feeling he will stay loyal to the Pelicans. He talked very highly about the organization after the tough time he went through with his wife so he might even resign with them for the discount, he seems like the type of guy that would do that but we'll see. Would be a good option for the Wolves though.

Rubio isn't coming here. Minny doesn't have a PG without him. Dunn is gone. They winning 45-50 games this year.

I really want Rubio because him and Frank can play together and if he's resting Frank can play point. Ball movement will be impeccable and Kp and Willy will be getting buckets.

Like I said, if Rubio is available. We should look into it. Have Frank as a spot up shooter since he already has a perimeter game. The good part is that we will have 2 good perimeter defenders on the court. I would hate to lose Lee but Rubio fits with us right now.

Lee seems like a Thibsy kind of player and obviously a straight up trade works under the cap. I would have to consider Rubio the better "asset" of the two given his second half and age and one less year on his deal, so not sure if we would have to attached anything else (second rounder, Kuz, O'Quinn, etc.).

Lee for Rubio made sense for me once I saw Rubio was still on block. Would be interesting and would leave us with literally no traditional 2s on the roster unless you count our 2nd round pick.
