Man, except for Nimmo, our OF sucks! Hopefully “da yutes” will be ready soon. I have no faith Marte who I loved two years ago. I think he’s just finished. Bader can D up but he’s not done anything yet in the majors that excites me.

Baty is another weak link. I expect one of the team’s top infield prospects in the minor leagues to eventually take his spot even if it means moving McNeil to 3B and bringing up Acuna or Williams to play 2B.

I think the starting rotation is decent once Senga comes back healthy. It could be even good if Megill and/or Butto fulfills their potential this season.

Marte had a bad spring and he's obviously older, but I haven't given up on him yet.

I agree with you on Bader and Baty.

Not sure about McNeil at 3rd, especially since I'm not 100% sure Acuna is ready to take over 2nd and they might try Jett at CF. All 3 of their highly valued position player prospects (Gilbert, Jett, Acuna) are probably mid-season/late season callups. Maybe there's a chance for sooner, but I think Jett is starting the year in AA, so probably not soon.

That said, the plan for Alvarez was to keep him in the minors longer last year, until Narvaes got hurt. So . . . who knows.

I wouldn't be surprised if Uncle Steve was able to pull off a trade, for OF or 3rd base help, but a trade takes two to tango, so . . . who knows.

I've set my expectations to "low" and I'm looking forward to the season.

At least the bats woke up. That's encouraging. 12 hits, 3 homers. 3 hits for Alvarez. But Severino gave up 12 hits and 6 runs in 5 innings. Ouch.

Knock Knock
Who's there?

Owen who?
0wen two. (hehehe - get it?) 0 and 2.

Go Mets. They'll get there. Eventually.

LOL. This is the part where I admit to being a bad fan.

If they're 35-50 or 45-60 when the trade deadline approches, it's sell time and OK, they won't get a ton. But they could get something.

Sell Alonso - get something
Sell Marte - eat salary - get something
Sell whichever pitchers aren't terrible, who are on short term deals? - get something.
Maybe sell McNeil, Narvaez. JD Martinez.
I'd personally wait on selling Senga & DIaz. But still, there's a fair bit of return to be had if they're sellers.

I'm not saying I want the Mets to suck, but if they do, they have some tradable assets, which can be fun too.

Unless they get something going, it'll be 0-3.

Carlos Mendoza suspended for this game because Yohan Ramirez threw at Rhys Hoskins in game 2. (I applaud that action). Rhys not only has history, but did a dirty slide against McNeil, so a close shave was well deserved.

Yohan appealed the suspension, then he throws 3 innings today. He'll probably drop the appeal tomorrow and get 3 days rest. LOL.

Not even April yet and we're 0-3, Megill getting an MRI, and our offense and pitching looks like cra.p.

It's a precautionary MRI and it was a chilly day. Severino's outing worried me a bit more. The Brewers has a high babip but he was giving them some straight down the middle pitches. It's just one game, but his outing was troubling.

I'm curious how Manea and Houser will look. This isn't a rotation that screams confidence.

Tigers are 3-0 but against the Whitesox, so Mets have a shot at wining a couple here.

Well I finally finished the 4-part Once Upon a Time in Queens documentary on ESPN.

I wasn't even born at the time. But oof, that ending hit me pretty hard. Shame the 86 Mets couldn't do it again.

No. I think it originally aired in 2021. But you can watch it on ESPN+

Oof. Bats were sleeping tonight. I knew it was a mistake to put DIaz in the 9th in a zero zero game. Should have saved him for the runner on 2nd inning. Might not have mattered, but that's what I'd have done.

On the plus side - Manea pitched well. Diaz is still Diaz. Alvarez is off to a solid start. On the minus: everything else.

How long do we give Baty? If he isn't working out by midseason, they should give Vientos a try.

My guess is mid-may is about as far as they'll wait. He has options. They don't lose anything by sending him down.

Vientos' glove is a concern, so a trade is also an option but whether trade or Vientos, I think Baty has 6 weeks, maybe 7.

How about Acuna to 2B and McNeil to 3B?
