Gallinari or Barrett?
I know there games aren’t necessarily similar, but they seem somewhat similar to me in terms of career arc. High draft pick guys who are 20ish PPG scorers who definitely bring good things to the table.
When all is said and done, who will have had the better career (obviously with Barrett likely having many more playing years than Gallinari left?)

Gallo was a much better player.
More efficient, less selfish, better shooter, and better defender.
Injuries derailed his career but even with the injuries I'm taking Gallo over RJ any day of the week.
He was much more talented and had a much higher basketball IQ.

Injury prone but good.
Iron man but mid.
I will take the guy who is good but not healthy over the below average player who is good one game then bad for two games.
So yea gallo for me.

Re: Gallinari or Barrett?
Gallo was a cool player to watch, especially off the back of the Isiah years.
The game seemed natural to him - the talent for basketball was obvious. A bit stiff at times after the back surgery that took away some of his mobility, but he was still mobile, he had a really nice feel for the game, and he was highly efficient without being ball dominant. Bit ahead of his time with his combination of range and size. Probably would have been a 1x or 2x All-Star with better injury luck, but that wasn't in the cards for him.
I was both happy sad to see Gallo go and happy to see Melo arrive. It's too bad some people got caught in this false Gallo/Melo dichotomy.

Re: Gallinari or Barrett?
Gallo's injuries altered his career trajectory - but I also don't sense that his work ethic was the best. I expected him to be better than he became, even with all the knee injuries.

I generally agree, although it is still possible that Barrett makes all star games and Gallinari unfortunately never did.
I agree that Gallinari had some exciting moments here.

I'd take Wilson Chandler over Barrett.
Barrett is on a John Wallace/Kevin Knox level of azz.

This sadly brings up a very interesting thought that may be one of the root causes of why Knick fans are among the most dire fanbase in existence.
Other than Ewing (which was a no brainer once the frozen envelope did its job 28 years ago) what player that the Knicks have drafted has ever made an impact that altered the direction of this team and held it there for any length of relevance? And I’m not talking superstar level, any level.
And the Knicks have had plenty of lottery picks.
Anyone?

Gallo was better for sure. Who knows how good he could've been if Tractor Traylor didn't treat summer league like the NBA finals

Pre migrane RJ blows Gallo away. That said we could give RJ some Advil and have them both play together.

This doesn't answer your question but I often think of how bad Steph Curry wanted to get drafted for the Knicks, refused to work out for GSW who had Monte Ellis at the time, and they took him anyway.
Jordan Hill was a bust you could see coming a mile away.
If the Knicks did get Curry, they prib would've traded him for cap space to try and sign LeBron anyway.
We suck at lotto picks. Like the worst

Pretty even level players but durability matters so RJ over Gallo.

Before the ill advised back surgery Gallo was looking like a freak point forward.
