Wow. I'm shocked. I was following the Raptors closer early this season when he came to their Gleague team and played a game or two up with the big club. Had a longish postgame interview and I was struck by how sincere and well spoken he is. I joked at the time he should skip playing and go right into broadcasting. Then began playing more after the OG and Siakam trades and Poeltl injury. Decent looking back-up stretch big, nice passer. Had a nice moment exchanging jerseys with brother Michael Jr in Denver a couple of weeks ago.

Seems like such a likable young man, and with him trying to establish a career in the league it's hard for me to believe he's mixed up in this.

I'm not surprised at all. We called this like a week ago.

I assume you are referring to a fully healthy knicks squad. In which case I agree. Actually I would go even a step farther and say a fully healthy knick squad would have even odds with the Celtics. This Knick team, if healthy throughout a season wins 60+ games and fights the Celtics for the top seed.

This seems highly suspicious that a team who ranks near the bottom on drives to the rim can rack that many FTAs.

The top 5 FTA per game teams are Magic, Bucks, Lakers, 6ers, and Suns

They rank 19th, 26th, 27th, 25th, and 21st in drives per game

Top 5 in drives per game are the Thunder, Pacers, Nets, Hornets, and Jazz

They rank 16th, 22nd, 26th, 30th, and 11th in FTA per game

There really isn't a correlation between drives to the rim and FTA. It correlates more with post ups per game, as the top 5 in FTA are 15th, 3rd, 4th, 11th, and 10th in post ups. I believe it's most closely correlated with spot ups as an inverse, as those top 5 in FTA are 23rd, 20th, 28th, 29th, and 4th in spot up possessions per game, meaning they don't take a ton of spot up shots except for the Suns, who appear to be an outlier

In 2017, the Hornets were 23rd in drives per game and in 2018 they were 24th. Despite that, they had 1,179 more free throws taken than their opponents. As far as I can tell, 2nd place over those two years was the Cavs at +590. So you'd have to argue that the league was also rigging games for the Hornets in 2016-2018 because they did something similar.

Cleveland and Miami still have the toughest schedule with the Pacers having the easier schedule and the Knicks and Magics having comparable schedules. Seeding going to come down to 3/4/5 and separately 6/7/8. I don't think Joel comes back this year. Really doesn't make sense, so I kind of hope the 76ers can sneak into the 6th seed, but my gut is telling me it'll be a Knicks/Pacers 1st round.

All good - happens to all of us. Hell, I think OJ tried out for a movie role once and was told that he didn’t look like he could be a killer.

Jontay was pretty brazen though. He didn’t seem like he was an addict - he was just trying to game the system
