Rose's overall tournament performance

Rose performed exactly as I expect. He abused smaller guards like he should have but has a problem facing players that can match him athletically.

As I said before in the post before the game Rose like to pick up his dribble when played up on his right side. You take away that crossover to the right hand and he cant get into his shooting motion when he drives.

Everyone called me a Rose hater yada yada. Fact remains everything I said has been proven FACT.

If CDR hits one of his free throws (or Rose for that matter but he missed only one) then we would all be talking about how Rose took over the game in the second half. He is averaging 20/5/5 or something for the Tourney which is outstanding for every player, let alone a freshman. Tonight in the second half he was nothing short of spectacular, both scoring and passing. What did he have tonight?!? 6 rebounds and 7 assists?! People quickly forget about that...

Also in the NBA the game is entirely different, much more space inside and more room to operate for him.

Chalmers and Robinson played him very well.

His problem is that he is way too passive for a player who can basically get to the rim at will. He's not a cold-blooded killer, and he got tight late in the game.

I love his talent, but how is he any different from Georgia Tech Marbury beside a few inches?

Oh right Marbury was already a better shooter...

Rose doesn't have a me first attitude. HUGE difference... Marbury with a better head on his shoulders would have been scary...

His handle isn't that great. He only has that cross over move. Problem is he NEVER crosses over from right to left. So you play his right side and he is just going to try to blow by you with the left hand.

I been watching him all year. He is a great prospect. Every propspect doesn't turn out :cough: Antonio Daniels. Look up his pre-draft articles.

Actually at Gtech and Minnesnowta Marbury was more of a pure PG who distributed the ball. In fact he was alot like Rose until he got that big contract from New Jersey...

Lamar Odom is a point forward, and Manu is a combo guard.

but i guess Mayo is immune since he isn't athletic enough or dynamic enough off the dribble to even get to the basket in the NBA.

I think he's more athletic and a better and more willing passer and conductor than Daniels, but b/c of his lack of an offensive arsenal, it's not impossible.

Whereas with guys like Mayo and Beasley, you know at the minimum they can give you 20 ppg...

(I still love Rose though)

That's taking it too far. Rose is going to be a good pro. Just not as good as 'consensus' players in years past (by that I mean, OBVIOUS top picks). Beasley is going to be the better pro. But I think Rose is slightly better than Mayo right now. Yeah, Mayo's game is probably a bit better suited to the pros. I think Rose is kinda' in the Jay Williams tweener-land. But I think he can definitely develop into a good PG on the next level.

They said the same thing about Antonio Daniels and he is a freak athlete.

Antonio Daniels is no scrub, but he isnt a franchise player either.

That will never happen man. I think you need to bring your man love for Mayo down a notch. I mean, I think he's going to be a special player, he has that demeanor and presence that says winner, but nothing is given on the pro level.. Just like we can't say Rose will be the next Antonio Daniels, we can't say Mayo will be the next Kobe.

Daniels is more selfish, and not as level-headed as Rose.

That said, he's also more clutch and a more versatile scorer.

I'd say b/c of Rose's ability to man the point and willingness to create space and find the open man, he'll be a top flight PG in the NBA.

Just not a Deron Williams or Chris Paul.

More of a rich man's Chris Duhon.

The only thing Mayo and Kobe have in common is the attitude. Mayo doesn't have Kobe's athleticism period.
