“In the next four or five years, could I end up playing over there?” Kidd wondered. “Hey, why wouldn’t I play in Italy or somewhere (else)? That might be a great experience.
“It’s a legitimate option now with Childress going over there.”
As he prepares for the Beijing Olympics with Team USA, Kidd is under contract with Dallas through next season. He has his eyes on an extension past 2008-09, but who knows anymore?
“Why not?” Kidd said. “We saw the Euro players coming here, and now it’s kind of flip-flopping.”

I have a new slogan for Euro league basketball.
Too Young? Too Old? Too Average? Euro basketball is for YOU!

That MUST piss off Marbury. Steph wanted to say he was the best point guard in Europe.

Hahaha that's funny. And now Carl Landry is trying to make the move to Europe. What is David Stern to do?

Re: OT: Jason Kidd Will Consider Europe
i def agree with that slogan. If a player in his prime want to be elite then let him come to the NBA and really show his stuff. I don't think that Euro ball will ever replace NBA ball. It is sort analogous to soccer/futbol. Backham came to the US and some other post prime players, watch out.
And worst case scenario, they'll never take American football away.
Maybe Stern really needs to work on this global basketball thing. Different regions w/ individual leagues, then a world tourney, not based on nationality but teams. Even more reason Stern should help the Knicks, most recognized city NEEDS TO BE GOOD.

Re: OT: Jason Kidd Will Consider Europe
I'm a basketball junkie, so if more American players go over there and it results in more televised European basketball, then great. Imagine if in 2 years, there's a weekly double-header on NBC... That would be major!
Plus, when I watch FIBA or international games, I notice it is way more physical than the NBA, from what they allow on defense. Our interior play is more physical, but they take a beating on drives and the perimeter.
A lot of the "softness" we attribute to Euro bigs might be a factor of them preferring to launch J's and being young. Perhaps the American influx of skilled players, will have a positive effect on their play and strategy!

Carl Landry was becoming very beastly before his injury this year. A big part of the reason that Houston won those 22 games in a row. I understand stealing our NBDL talent and even our 6th man role players but when they start convincing our young and upcoming talent to come play over there ala Brandon Jennings and Carl Landry then I can forsee a future problem for David Stern and his league.

In 4 or 5 years he wont even be in the top tier discussion, so of course it would be a good move for him

A lot of this also has to do with the current financial crises with the shrinking dollar.
