Poll: When will the Knicks win a title?

If i'm lucky enough to be living for another 15yrs i'll be 39. I'm hoping that we can win a championship or 2 by then or at least in my lifetime.

My best guess is at the end of the 2013-2015 range. However, I want 2+ championships in the 2013-2020 range to be happy. It's been long enough, especially for a big market. We will have suffered through being HORRIBLE from 2002-2010 and since we're attempting to rebuild through patience, the long way, it should pay off with 2+.

If Gallinari becomes as good of a player as Nowitzki, then the Knicks may have a shot at a title.

I would be ecstatic if we could win 1 title in the next 15 years. Hopefully i will still be coherent by then to enjoy it.

We need to get real lucky. There's no other way to put it. Somehow we need to find a franchise player.

I think we need 2. An LBJ is a once in a life time player, and we're not likely to get him. If we get 1 franchise player, LBJ could end up being this eras Jordan and destroying championship hopes. I think a solid team needs at least 3 players that can be deadly on any given night a la (and I hate to say this) Boston. They have 2 legit franchise players and Ray Allen. With the way powerhouses are being built, I think we need something like that. Heck, Amare and Nash plus all the others couldn't get it done in Phoenix! Right now, our hopes are in the hands of Gallo, Chandler, 09 1st, cap space signing. I like all those options but yielding 3/4 just seems unlikely.

True, can't disagree with that. I will change my stance to we need to get really really really lucky.

lol, it's pretty hard to project past the next couple of years. won't be then though.

we... if everything goes perrrrrrfect... could turn this ship into a contender as soon as 2011-2012 imo... so anything beyond that... But we'd have to be reeeeeeeaaaallly lucky with our picks, player development, and trading partners.

probaly in 2012-2013 we will get some nice free agents with atleast 1 or 2 superstars on our team. *crosses fingers for Lebron*

Out of the NY sports teams, only the Jets and Nets have sucked worse at winning championships. And maybe the Nets won an ABA title since 73, not sure.

At this point, I'm just worried about making the damn playoffs.

Im not going to guess years because to win a championship you either have to have one of the best players in the league which the Knicks have not had since Ewing. Also you have to have one of the best coaches in the league(Pat Riley) Larry Brown was but he coached weird and Isaiah and Dolan were never on the same page as him. You also need to have one of the best GM(executives in the league) Donnie Walsh is very good. Not great but light years ahead of Isaiah. Or you have the best defense and team play in the league. For example the 04 Pistons. Larry Brown was coach of that team but I think that was his easiest job. Until the Knicks get either one of these its going to be awhile but at least Donnie is on the right track.

With all the pessimism I have to say that we could win a ring at any time. We have all the star power, we just need teamwork and defense. With MD we have a chance at getting the team aspect down and the no defense will hopefully be taken care of by individuals. If MD can convince Zach to take charges, if we can get Lee and Jeffries to be our shot blockers, a lot of our holes will get covered.
