Marbury?

Post#1 » by Scalabrine » Fri Nov 21, 2008 6:32 pm

Walsh and D'Antoni did say that if they were to lose one of their current guards to injury then Marbury would get the call to step in and play. Now this isnt an injury but Crawford is gone, and we dont have a shooting guard other than Nate Robinson, any chance Marbury could get activated and maybe play afterall? I mean this is one of the situations in which MD&DW said Marbury would play, so could it happen?

I doubt it, but I see it as more of a possibility now than it ever has been.

I really thought we were gonna get Bellinelli in this deal and that was what I was most excited about but now what do with our extremely thin guard depth.

Duhon/Roberson
Nate/Collins
that is putrid, let the tank begin.

I expect him to play. However, Mike will manage his minutes like he has done everyone else.

TKB has learned that the Knicks are activating Stephon Marbury for tonight’s game in Milwaukee.

This is significant for a bevy of reasons:

Since Marbury has been banished, this decision is not because they’ve made room for him because of the Crawford deal.

Sources tell us that the team will activate Marbury because another trade is in the works so that the team can dress 8 players- an NBA rule.

As we’ve been reporting all morning the team is discussing a deal with the Clippers.

Stay tuned.

So our 8 men will be:
Duhon/Roberson
Robinson/Marbury(wont play probably)
Richardson/Gallinari (wont play)
Chandler/Rose
Lee/Curry(wont play)

Marbury doesnt need to be activated for us to dress 8 men, we have 3 injured players (Jeff, Curry, and Gallinari) but all can dress but not play. The only player we will not dress is James (for insurance reasons) and if the Clippers deal is true then that would mean we are only trading 3 players ( Crawford, Zach, and Collins). If Marbury is activated I would bet he plays, there is no reason to activate him without intending to play him.

Damn, we wouldn't have enough to suit up 8 players? Wtf is going on here in Gotham?

I don't believe this.

No way dressing 8 players is an issue, can't be that many players dealt today.

Actually when you take out Crawford(traded), Jeffries(injury), Gallo(injury) and Curry(injury) that leaves the active players down to 11. If we trade 3 more players by the end of the day, we would be down to only 8 guys who can play.

I already made a thread on this.

Unless the next trade that will be made is for more than Randolph and Collins we will have enough to dress 8 men without dressing Marbury. Curry, although injured, has dressed and not played, same with Gallinari, and im sure Jeffries could do the same if he had to.

If we were to play Marbury the rest of the season then this trade makes even more sense. Marbury can play the same role that Crawford played while clearing a ton of cap space.

Its interesting, right now we arent playing Marbury and Curry because they dont fit, the biggest reasons they dont fit is because Crawford and Randolph both have similar games, so we could trade both of them get players in return that fit our salary cap aspirations and then give the roles that ZBO and Craw previously had. It would make even more sense.

we have more than enough players UNLESS Zach and another player gets moved before gametime then we would HAVE no choice but to activate Steph. It what I was thinking in the "tonights game" thread.

Now that we know the trade was JC for Harrington strait up, this leads me to think Zach and filler will be moved very soon.
