Why on earth did the Clippers sign him, then waive him, then sign him again?

But mostly on their end they were picking up salary, giving away cash, and losing picks so i don't see the logic behind what the Clippers were doing. If anything they should have waited to pick up fred jones before signing him to the original deal.

Did they sign him before 10 day contracts went into effect? If so, he now gets a 10 day contract. It is possible Fred and his agent knew this, and agreed to it.

If you get cut before January 7th certain contracts aren't guaranteed. So in this case they waive two players who's contracts weren't fully guaranteed $1.5mil in total(Jones and Davis) Now they did pay Paul Davis a portion of his $750,000k salary. They sent out cash considerations no more than 500,000k probably less because they traded for Samb who was making about 750,000k this season, who's deal remained guaranteed. They sent Det the remaining balance to be paid to him for the season which was probably like 300-400,000k plus a second rounder I believe with some protection then signed Jones to a 10 day contract. Do the math they saved money here, although not a lot.

Thanks for clearing that up wasn't disagreeing with you, but was just trying to see the logic they were using behind their moves.

I had to edit the post because I didn't factor in Davis being signed since the start of the season, so obviously they paid money out to him but then again they just signed Jones 2weeks prior to being waived so they didn't pay much into his $750,000k salary. Regardless they saved some money somewhere between $500-900k-minus whatever Jones makes from his 10 day contracts. Not sure what their values are.
