no way he gets another NBA contract if he does opt out which is why it won't happen

We get our capspace, and Eddy gets his money PLUS cheeseburgers.

No need for that. Eddy has an ETO in his contract at the end of the season.
He can exercsie his ETO and resign for one year and $1M next summer.
As a free agent below the average salary, Eddy Curry would count for 200% against the cap in 2010 (so only $2M). With only a $2M cap-hold, there would be no need to renounce Curry.
As we have his bird rights, we could sign free agents and then resign Eddy to a 3 yrs $30M contract. Eddy would then recoup the $20M he forfeited when he opted out and would get an additional $10M.

It would be legal unless the league proved we promised Eddy a future lucrative contract. Hard to prove. Of course it won't happen because Stern would hold a grudge against the Knicks and would punish the team first chance he get in the future.

GM's & coaches are not as stupid or irresponsible as they used to be. You see all these coaches and GM's getting the ax. Teams are losing money in the current economy.

Unless he suits up and shows he can produce there isn't a GM in the league that will touch him. Keep in mind that not only is Curry extremely one dimensional with a total lack of defense or rebounding. Then add his reputation for being totally uninterested in Basketball + a weight problem = Big Stiff no one will sign

We should start a charity who's proceeds will go to supporting eddy curry if he opts out of his knicks contract to help make that option more appealing to him, I'm sure McDonald's would send hima year's supply of burgers with some coaxing.
