Mike Brown is an inferior Head Coach

Post#1 » by Jose7 » Sun May 31, 2009 6:10 pm

In all seriousness, forget about the jokes as LeBron being the coach and Brown being the clipboard holder/gatorade boy but Brown was AWFUL at making adjustments this series.

We all know Dwight Howard, aside of Shaq is the most immovable object in basketball but was there ever once a change in defensive philosophy all series?

How about trying to play a zone? How about FRONTING Dwight Howard for once?

Every single time after a Cavs brick (which they did a lot of), it was the same exact play. Dwight would be Big Slow and Sloppyjow down the court and be posting up already which lead to a wide open 3 or easy dunk. How about playing a ZONE to change up Howard's looks a bit or try fronting him which can somewhat work effectively ala David Lee when he plays centers.

I just don't get how a coach can be so stubborn and not make any in SERIES adjustments let alone in game adjustments.

And I won't even talk about the offensive philosophy and substitution patterns. Awful head coach, awful decision maker.

Yeah this was rediculous...he didnt have any system...Did it not seem like the whole team has been standing around the last few games? Even LeBron wasnt going after the ball...get your star motivated..it was rediculous. Mike Brown sucks and if they fire him and hire a good coach they will be already 5 times better...

playing zone....against the magic? good thing you're not the coach, seeing the magic would have ripped that zone apart and made 40 3pters a game.

There are different variations of a zone defense genius and the point of switching to a zone is to show a different look rather than keep getting ABUSED the same way, at least try something new. And the fact that he kept playing 2 big men is a joke against this magic team.

You know your coach is bad when the assistant has to call offensive plays for your team. I mean every time there was a time out the assistant coach would draw up the play while Brown would jut nod his head and clap his hands. Horrible coaching job. And firing him out of the question cause the guy is coming off a 60+ win season.

Regular season with the one the BEST players in the league on your team with a revved up home crowd you can get by. Playing 2 bad teams early in the playoffs with worse coaches you can get by. But as teams and coaches get better you see his flaws, his rotations were just awful. No offensive strategy at all.

I said it from the start, Lebron needs an offensive minded coach to take advantage of all he can do, Lebron's will can get guys to buy into playing defense. Mike Brown is going to be a big reason Lebron considers leaving Cleveland.

As a Knick fan, I surely hope Ferry keeps this guy in charge next season. Another season of coming up short and Lebron aint staying in Cleveland!

how are you considered a coach when your defensive assistant draws up defensive plays and your offensive assistant draws up the offensive plays??

all brown does is call varajou's name to sub in big z.

because the coach hires his assistants and makes them do what he wants them too.

It netted them the best record in the NBA and a almost undefeated home record

Football coaches do the same thing, does that not mak them coaches too?

Wrong, Football coaches are motivators, basketball coaches don't motivate. -1

He's not a "bad" coach but calling him Coach of Year is a little too much.

With all the calls that LeBron gets plus the non-calls on him (getting away with traveling & charging), almost any coach would get a lot of extra wins.

He's much less of a coach and much more of a Public Relations representative.

That didnt stop you from believing his team would coast to the Finals.

KnicksMetsJetsNova wrote:mann cleveland is going to absolutely wreck that team.. losing jameer killed them they have no leadership and the offense is beyond stagnant... dwight is a beast but they have no shot

KnicksMetsJetsNova wrote:i really got a sweep here.. im not saying the cavs are going to win it all (they could), but they are just head and shoulders above the celtics minus kg (regardless now, but just saying) and the magic without jameer and maybe even with him..h
