Re: UCF Football[8-3]: vs UAB

The move by Maryland will be regrettable for everything and everyone except for the money.

The feedback so far has been enormously negative, but reality won't really set in until the move takes place with new schedules underway.

The additional revenue stream will be helpful to the school and its supported athletics, but c'mon, is it really prudent long term and short term to leave generational and geographical rivals so that the school can field women's field hockey, men's badmitton teams?

Message to Md; Try winning more to produce revenue.....

Maryland is a founding member of the ACC too and I'm just stunned they're not listening to everyone's advice about them staying. They'll regret it long term. This is a smart move like Rutgers and they'll mesh immediately. They look like a Big 10 school.

Now rumors are that San Diego State and Boise State are getting cold feet about moving their football programs to the Big East. Not good.

UCF is looking very dumb for not taking the bowl ban this season because all of a sudden this team is actually in a decent spot to play well in the Big East next season.

Maryland to the ACC is a silly move. Unless the B10 plans to move to move to 16 teams. Say, taking GT and UVa. The Terps and SKnights are on an island right now. Adding 2 more east coast teams could create a decent 4 team "pod" and add new markets.

I'm fairly pissed about Rutgers going to the BIg Ten. I think in 20 years it'll be viewed as a huge gaffe. The school has been around 150 years, yet been "relevant" (kind of) the last ~10 years (i.e. under Schiano's fist). Hell, they stormed the field against a school in the FBS for ~10 years at the time (you know who). That said, of the Big East teams, Pitt and Rutgers were the most Big Ten "like".

I like the idea of UCF/USF coupling, actually. In effect, I think we can sell being "reverse linked" to FSU. That is, if the ACC loses FSU, are they comfortable only having Miami representing the state? Similarly, if the Big XII doesn't ever "woo" FSU do they want no FL presence? Regardless if UCF/USF pair up, I hope USF is selling the above.

"We" kind of need to hope for a complete collapse of the BE, otherwise, the old standby's may be Cinci and USF + it's old C-USA brethren, without BSU/SDSU. I'm not sure that's an improvement over the C-USA we used to be in (before it was C-DOA).

Also, don't discount that ND may do the unfathomable and join ACC as a full member. That stops expansion in it's tracks IMO, for a bit.

I don't think anyone fits the ACC geographically, culturally, and without significant opposition in what's left of the Big East. UL and UConn both, allegedly, have major detractors against them; surprisingly UL has more detractors apparently. USF and Cincy are probably met with apathy currently, but USF has obvious opposition.

The feedback has been overwhelmingly against the move by MD.

I would expect that the shock and negativity will wear off in the coming months.

Football-wise, MD isn't going to miss much other than Clemson where there is some history....but basketball is another story. The ACC has already lost some of it's identity with the earlier expansion, so basketball was already affected.....but still their is a lot of history that has been kicked to the curb

The funny thing is; is how long does it take before MD and Rutgers outspend their new TV windfall?

SDS and BS is probably an issue, depending on what happens with the TV contract.

If they don't come, and UCONN and/or UL leave, then the BE is essentially dead in football.

I wonder what is going through the minds of the BBall schools? I'm sure many want to bail...

If we show any signs of testicular fortitude and preparation, we'll win by 2 touchdowns.

ECU I'm more than fine with. Our rivalry with them carries over.

Tulane?

Man I am disgusted with UCF. How do you give up a touchdown right before the half. The coaching staff fell asleep thinking that they were going to run out the clock. Typical UCF. I am not suprised if UCF gets blown out in the second half now.

This is the most (Please Use More Appropriate Word), awesome, gut-wrenching game I have watched in a while. I have no idea how it is going to end, but my money is on badly. Or spectacularly.

I mean, championship game in what looks like a high school stadium...wind blowing mercilessly in one direction...announcers getting like 50% of the player names right...plays I have never seen before...extra points getting blocked all over the place...5 yard punts...ball on the ground every time I turn around...I am on a roller coaster.

Another spectacular loss by UCF and GOL. Got to give GOL credit, he just finds unique ways to lose. its a bad sign for a coach when his team is racking up penalties and makes constant mental errors like the punt return. His teams have zero leadership and discipline. It happens every big game.

And about that punt return....that had to be a dead ball, right? Right? That play can't continue once UCF batted the ball, can it? And I swear it looked like those two Tulsa guys ran back in off the sidelines to throw blocks...no idea if that would be illegal or not. Just added to the craziness.

I'm not even going to get mad at the multiple referee errors on that punt return. Basically, it never should've counted. O'Leary couldn't even call timeout in time to challenge it. What was he doing that entire time? Keeping his hands in his pants?

But our preparation (again) and our play was so appalling that I don't care. It's a proper punishment that they have to play in the hell hole that is the Beef O'Brady's Bowl. It's gotten to the point where you almost have to hope President Hitt passes away before we can even dream about O'Leary getting fired. It's sad and sadistic, but it's the truth.

Another sad ending to a potential opportunity for success.

The time out before the half was ludicrous.

The HC falling asleep late has become normal.

The results are normal too. Could have been a nice win today, but......

Skippy was canned at usf

They'll eat a couple of million, but he was a massive fail.

How many were there last night against Pitt? 20k?

Ucf should have done this after last seasons terrible season

Its the same story every year. We always says he should have gotten canned way before and he always sticks around. That was such a dumb decision by Hitt to give him that really long contract all those years ago. Then you keep hearing school officials say they are perplexed as to why more people dont shot up to the games.........SMH.

It's Ball State vs Ucf in St Pete on December 21.

This should be a ratings bonanza
