Travis Heath talking of Harris

Post#1 » by mbn23 » Wed Apr 24, 2013 5:10 pm

its not much but, i was on Hoopsworld and found this in his chat.

Cain
Who do you think will be 2013-14 breakout star?
Travis Heath
This is always a difficult question, and it also depends what you mean by “breakout.” Often folks mean who will be the next star, which is what it seems you mean. However, I think a guy getting a lot better and reaching his potential, even if it’s not star potential, is just as intriguing. Some names of guys I will have my eye on include: Larry Sanders, Bradley Beal, Andre Drummond, Eric Bledsoe and Tobias Harris (although I need to watch more film on him). Not sure you can count John Wall as a breakout guy if he has a big season in 2013-14, but I think he will if he stays healthy. Another guy I am really intrigued by is John Henson. Not sure he will ever be a star, but my wife is absolutely sick of me saying “I really like that kid,” every time I’m watching film on the Bucks.

It's all opinion. You "easily" see them being all-stars doesn't mean you're anymore correct than me when I say I don't see them as all-stars. In the end, time will tell.

i guess because the allstar vote is a popularity contest, guys like Vuc, Harris and Harkless will have to rely on a coach vote for a bench role, unless they start averaging 20+ and putting up some real highlight reel performances. And, I believe that they all have a chance to do that if they continue to develop the way they have been.

"Aaron Gordon will cost Henny's job by Dec 2016." Predicted Dec 2014.

"O'Quinn will have a longer and more successful NBA career than Nicholson." Predicted Jun 2012. Verified on Dec 2014.

There are some players that do awesome and are on crappy teams that still make the All-Star team.

Maybe not this year, but it is possible!

Unless GM Hennigan trades Nelson, I think the Magic will struggle to lose 50 games next year. At that point, Coach Vaughn would pressure his players for a playoff slot.

GM Hennigan has a lot of work to do to ensure a 60 loss season; trading Nelson is the easiest path for that.

Nelson will be injured for half the season anyway

On this logic, is this not the reason to trade him to Dallas now?

To the topic, I really think Coach Vaughn is training Harris to be a point-PF. It is a interesting switch on the Pippen point-SF role. Defensively, no defending PF will be able to guard Harris if he has the ball to set up an offense. And that makes it even easier to trade Nelson.
