That recently everytime a star leaves his team that team gets the number one 1 pick.

Lebron leaves cavs get number 1 pick
Cp3 leaves hornets get nber 1 pick
Dwight leaves ORL.......?

Don't hold your breath, David Stern hates our franchise. I have my own reasons. It doesn't help that he was literally boo'd by most of the arena on the opening night of the Amway Center.

Well the lottery is a likely place for a team losing players like that. Teams structure their whole team, offense, defence, and role players around that 'star'. You take him out and you are bound to crash and burn, especially as most of the significant role players end up changing teams as well. lets hope we get back to back number 1's

We have gotten the number one pick 3 times with him as the commish. I agree the NBA is rigged, but I don't think he hates Orlando. Plus, he is booed everywhere he goes. Not just here.

Recent history shows us that the worst record isn't likely to grab the top pick. Just ask the Hornets, Timberwolves, Nets and Kings. This year's lotto doesn't really matter anyways unless we are going to trade down.

Cavs got their #1 pick from LAC though when they traded for Davis' contract. The cavs pick was really the #4 pick.

Don't know if the point the original poster was trying to make was that the NBA "gifts" these teams the #1 pick (rigged) so as to keep the NBA somewhat even and exciting in all the cities, or if he was saying they were somehow "lucky" or what. If they were rigging it....it wouldn't really matter if it was their own pick or the Clippers pick that got "bumped" to #1 (conspiracy theorists would say that since it was the Clippers pick, it's more likely to be rigged so that the Cavs ended up with the #1 and #4 - two high picks). Anyways, "recent history" and all these other indicators are irrelevant assuming it isn't rigged. It's simply a 25% chance and the amount of times the team with that chance has gotten it falls well within the normal statistical realms.

That was just so conspiracy theorists could keep shouting about how the worst team never wins the lottery. Stern knew what he was doing.

I don't really care either way, as long as we get the #1 pick next year.

Side note, I think it would be pretty swell if we were to make a trade with a team, and they ended up being a lottery pick in the 2014 draft to get 2 top 5 picks.

That would be fun!

The last time the worst team got the overall #1 was 9 years ago. But yes that was Orlando for Howard. The lottery is due!
