A smart coach once said, "Potential just means you're not good enough yet." Playing on potential is like living on air: It's essential, but if thats all you have, you're eventually going to starve.

Yeah he looks great! The more I watch him the more I think he is Tobias 2.0, a really good young player that Hennigan finds in a trade that surprises us all.

was high on him during his draft. but even more now. loved what is saw. happy to have him on board
Definitely can see a little Manu in him with his ball handling, craftiness and shooting. The second starting guard position battle is going to be interesting i feel.

Looks like Fournier is switching from #94 to #10. I liked 94 because it was unique but I'm definitely a fan of him switching to 10, fits him well I think.

Re: Fournier Hype Thread
Nuggets play-by-play man Chris Marlowe called Evan Fournier "the best cutter on the Denver Nuggets -- bar anybody" Let's assess the claim via Synergy data.
Note: Some of Nuggets players' "cut" numbers are based on precious few (10 or fewer) cuts to the basket all season. Q. Miller (10), McGee (9), Brooks (4). Fournier had 24 -- one shy of the the amount needed to qualify for league-wide rankings in Synergy's database.
Cut - FG%
100.0% - Q. Miller
87.50% - J. McGee
75.00% - A. Brooks
68.20% - E. Fournier
66.70% - J. Hamilton
66.50% - K. Faried
63.60% - R. Foye
62.50% - N. Robinson
60.00% - W. Chandler
58.50% - J.J. Hickson
58.30% - T. Mozgov
55.60% - A. Randolph
50.00% - A. Miller
44.40% - T. Lawson
44.40% - J. Vesely
36.80% - D. Arthur
Fournier's PPP on these plays is more middling than his FG%, but that might be because in a still relatively small-ish sample of 24 cuts, he turned it over a couple of times and never got any And-1's. But the takeaway seems to be that Fournier is effective at cutting to the basket for very high-percentage looks.
Where Fournier stands out even more is on Hand-offs, where, among qualified Nuggets teammates (25 or more plays) he ranked first in ppp at 1.19 -- a mark good enough for 7th best in the league.
Hand-Offs (ppp)
1.19 - E. Fournier (#7)
1.07 - R. Foye (#17)
0.37 - T. Lawson (#110)
Perhaps most tantalizingly to us, in the wake of the Frye signing, is his performance as a P&R Ballhandler. In this setting, he was the team's most accurate 3-point shooter (.412 3P%), and one of the team's most efficient overall options (0.89 ppp).
P&R Ballhandler (ppp)
0.91 - A. Brooks (#22)
0.89 - E. Fournier (#28)
0.88 - T. Lawson (#34)
0.86 - R. Foye (#44)
0.86 - A. Miller (#44)
0.77 - N. Robinson (#102)
0.71 - W. Chandler (#146)
0.61 - Q. Miller (#179)
0.50 - K. Faried
0.50 - J. Hamilton (#204)
0.44 - A. Randolph
0.40 - D. Arthur
0.00 - J.J. Hickson
0.00 - T. Mozgov
0.00 - J. Vesely
These numbers are all the more promising when considering the boost that Frye provides to the P&R game for a capable slasher, 3-point shooter and decision-maker.
Why don't we just compare Fournier last year straight up with the beneficiaries of this Frye effect, Dragic and Bledsoe.
P&R Ballhandlers
................G. Dragic/E. Bledsoe/E. Fournier

3FG%..........43.4..../......40.9.../....41.2
TO%...........16.3..../......17.5..../....12.7
As we see, Dragic was pretty much uniformly better than Fournier as a P&R Ballhandler -- a fact which should not come as a surprise, given that the Dragic-Frye P&R was the most effective in the league. But comparing Fournier and Bledsoe, we see that Fournier outclassed Bledsoe both individually (better 3P%, lower TO rate) and overall (more points per play). In fact, in terms of league rank, Fournier was closer to Dragic than Bledsoe, and this was for a Nuggets team without a floor-spacing big to create the matchup problems Frye did.
Overall, some very encouraging numbers when you get down to it.

Re: Fournier Hype Thread
..
Fournier ran some beautiful pick and pops with Darrell Arthur last year.
[ NBA.com/video (15 clips) ]
Now just imagine that "popper" being replaced with Channing Frye. And not 18 ft out, but beyond the 3-pt line.

i like his aggressiveness and bbiq. He can take some bad shots but overall not bad.
Best part of his game is his height and his extremely quick release.

FIBA line-ups is not a good indication of NBA minutes, esp for euro teams where they prefer to play veterans over young players. Giannis is a perfect example. He is clearly the most talented Greek player but they only play him 10-15 minutes a game.
Although Fournier is not guaranteed to get 20 mins in Orlando, he at least has a better outlook than the one he had at Denver. I'd say the main competition for minutes is Ben Gordon. And while Gordon has been a big bust, I just don't know how the coaching staff will approach this, if they will give Gordon first shot at that back up guard spot, or give it to fournier

Vucevic was coming off the bench for Montenegro last year.

Re: Fournier Hype Thread
Yep, and Pavicevic is going to be fired after he failed to get them (without Vooch and Pek, but it's still an embarrassment for them) to EuroBasket 2015. Montenegro won't be back in a major tournament again until EuroBasket 2017.
Fournier coming off the bench for France means nothing, especially when he's Nicolas Batum's backup.

Everyone should tune in tonight! Spain vs France. Spain could very well just run away with it but maybe Fournier goes god mode and upsets spain? lol Would be epic
